Yes, mommy π.

LeifKeymasterHi Bamp!
You get the best results by using one processor. I believe the Barix has a low enough noisefloor to not need processing or limiting beforehand — just make sure to never clip the input to the Barix, and you can make up the gain at the other end, in the processor.
May I ask, how did you decide to use the Omnia for main processing? Did you A/B Breakaway Live against the Omnia?
Best,

LeifKeymasterSure, http://www.ceaudio.com/plugins for DSP plug-in attenuation, or just lower the L/R output level in the settings inside BBP.

LeifKeymasterWhy, yes — Twente, of course! π

LeifKeymasterUpgrading is not possible, but they’re free to try. Try both, buy the one that suits your needs.
I absolutely recommend Intel over AMD for the reasons stated above, but again, try the free demo versions. If they work, so will the licensed versions.

LeifKeymasterI have successfully used Breakaway on Windows XP Embedded systems without DirectSound. In fact, I have even successfully used Breakaway on Windows systems with the Windows Audio Service disabled!
Kernel Streaming bypasses both of them — they’re neither required nor used as long as you use KS. Of course, sound card drivers could conceivably refuse to install if they’re not there.

LeifKeymasterFan vad tufft π. Jo det hade rΓ€ckt med MPX inspelning fΓΆr att testa det ju.

LeifKeymasterMan those are sweet specs! I love it. Can’t wait to try it π.

LeifKeymasterThe Dance preset was very light processing. You can get a very similar sound from Plutonium by turning down the Power and Final Drive controls substantially π.
For Closing Time, I know this song very well. If you want the intro quieter than the rest, the key is to process less. Have you tried Reference Settings with bass boost adjusted for taste?
Reference Settings is what I use for myself when listening to music — any more than that and it’s too much for me personally.

LeifKeymasterAh, my bad. Livelink itself is also not low latency, not even in Breakaway Live.
I can see how this is a real-world problem that needs a solution. I’m starting to think the Breakaway family needs a new member, such as a truly low latency processor for DJs, designed to run on the same machine as DJ software, and with two separate stereo cores for under $100, and without streaming.
Breakaway Live for PA use is really intended to be a standalone audio processor — i.e. use a separate machine for it, and forget that it’s a computer — it’s just a low latency audio processor like any other.

December 20, 2009 at 5:20 am in reply to: Do not underestimate the importance of tilt calibration.. #9214LeifKeymasterNo problem. This topic is "near and dear" to my heart. Any discussion about it is good!
And yeah, one man’s edgy new sound is another man’s 20 year old boom-box low on batteries turned up too loud.

LeifKeymasterAccording to Marian themselves, Trace Alpha is also DC straight! Bob Hawkins has tested and confirmed. I’ll be buying a couple of cards as soon as I can! As it is, with DC straight outputs for not much more than the price of a Juli@, this card appears to be the absolute best choice for MPX.
Other than that, they’re nice and stable cards — we’ve used Trace Pro and Trace D4 in Linear Acoustic products for years.

LeifKeymasterI completely rewrote the KS system a couple of months back, so if it didn’t work for you earlier, please try again now.
If KS doesn’t work now, that’s indicative of a serious sound card driver problem. I’ve actually never seen it not work properly except on certain older AC97 onboard devices.
