Correct. Please reference the block diagrams topic 🙂 http://www.forumclaessonedwards.com/forum/index.php/topic,579.0.html
JesseGMemberMake sure you're using the latest chipset and graphics (GPU) drivers for your hardware. Also try running Breakaway in one of the "older" compatibility modes like Server 2003 or XP if you have those.
JesseGMemberIf you're able to use the force USB v1.1 mode on the BCA2000 and still have the functions you need, I recommend it. It's much more stable than USB v2.0 mode.
JesseGMember"ITU Ref Level" calibrates a few things to match your input loudness (ITU-R B.S.1770 / LKFS) target.
The insinuation is that you should be mixing and/or using loudness normalization with a loudness target. There are several major advantages to mixing with loudness meters and/or using loudness normalization in your automation and/or during ingest.
JesseGMemberNot that way. Leif knows about the Android kernel mods that make that happen.
I haven't looked at Android 5 info yet, but I know they've wanted to allow system-wide audio effects to happen for a while, and a complete overhaul of the audio engine to allow for ~realtime audio apps.
JesseGMemberI just heard about it being down. I've notified Leif of the situation. I'm not surprised that it slipped past him, since NAB Show is basically in go-mode right now. It's been busssssyyyyyyy…..
JesseGMemberand with whatever player you're using, see if it has an option to automatically drop (video) frames, so that at least the playback speed won't slow, you'll just get less FPS (frames per second). I'd suggest getting a better GPU too, for hardware decoding, but being a laptop you're basically stuck with what it has.
JesseGMemberIf you lose it, you can always contact keith@claessonedwards.com
JesseGMemberI can't wait for it too. 🙂 It seems as the efficiency of the mobile CPUs is capable now without destroying batteries. 🙂 Unfortunately Undo is a pretty CPU-heavy beast, not to mention the entire psychoacoustic code would have to be ported to a different SDK (from the one it partly uses now) which runs on ARM, and it's still a CPU-heavy beast. But just the basic Breakaway dynamics core would be pretty sweet.
Now all that has to happen is for Android to support system-wide audio processing so that it works with all audio on the phone, not just a purpose-built "player" of some kind, which wouldn't allow people to use whatever they want, it wouldn't work on any other apps. That's why I've kind of shrugged at all other attempts to bring any kind of audio processing to Android, being limited to their playback software.
JesseGMemberThere actually was a full port of the audio back-end done for OSX, in 5.1 surround, but the developer that was porting it came onto some major health problems quite a few years ago, and work could not be continued on it at the time.
I know that OSX has always been great for sales, and Volume Logic (the audio processing previous to Breakaway) was at one point the most popular audio processing for OSX. That was when it only worked in certain players, like iTunes. Now it's possible to do audio processing on the whole system's audio at once in OSX, so if there is a new version eventually, it'll be much more awesome experience on OSX than previously. Windows now has built-in audio processing support for soundcards too. 😉
JesseGMemberWe'll see how the future progresses as the CPUs become much more efficient, and the battery technology will improve a little more still also. Until recently I would say that it wasn't feasible to do.
The other big hurdle to doing this is Android itself, and the lack of support for a standardized system-wide audio processing method. Custom ROMs with their own audio processing doesn't count, for 99.999% of users. 😉
JesseGMemberIt sounds like the driver says it supports Kernel Streaming, but in reality it does not. That's a very BAD thing to do, and it will cause a "blue screen" and reboot. It's the fault of the soundcard's drivers. Have you tried updating the soundcard drivers to the official drivers from the manufacturer?
JesseGMemberwhat preset are you using? what are the settings like final drive and bass? 75uS or 50uS emphasis?
February 12, 2015 at 5:22 am in reply to: Noise when i go to the internet and when i scroll trough a window folder #13999JesseGMemberYou need a new soundcard. 🙂 What you're hearing is noise on your motherboard, and a soundcard on the motherboard with zero protection from it, partly because it doesn't have its own power supply & conditioning like a PCI/PCIe card would have.
JesseGMemberBreakaway needs to be licensed for each computer it will be running on, just like Stereo Tool.
