Awesome detail; thanks so much. As with many of your posts, I will be clipping this one for its instructive value too. You are SO dedicated to this stuff Leif, and it really shows.

Question on those new Phase Rotator plug-ins: If I do end up liking one of those, it seems I should then turn off the built-in Phase Scrambler. Is that correct, or would I leave it on and have both rotating and scrambling?
celarMemberAH. Gotcha; thanks.
celarMemberOMG, you got Cornelius on board!!?! I swear, BBP is a who’s-who of processing. Fantastic.
I can hardly wait to see more of his presets integrated into BBP. The CGSlamminCHR and CGSmooth series of Omnia presets are Corny’s finest work.
celarMemberJesse- thanks; I had never heard of that custom version of LAME.
Those presets you mentioned (preset 12 and preset 5), I can’t see those anywhere. The presets seem to have names like sw, fm, radio, tape, hifi, cd, studio.
Can you tell where to find the preset 12 and preset 5? Thanks again.
celarMemberSweet, thanks!
That info will be so helpful in trying out different settings. Awesome customer support.
celarMember
You could try to apply bass cut. This is not actually a filter or EQ, instead it lowers the thresholds for the B1 and B2 AGCs, thus causing less clipping and cleaner bass.
Thanks for that clarification Leif. I had thought the bass boost was some sort of post-multiband bass enhancer.
So that raises a question: What does "Bass Shape" modify? Does it change your B1 and B2 crossover points or something? Thanks for any info you can provide.
celarMember
However, you really aren’t missing much. I do hear up to 18 kHz, but i don’t hear a lot of difference between 16 and 18.
How right you are. I just ran some tones, and discovered that I can’t even hear 15 kHz.
I can’t hear 15! That is PATHETIC. 🙁
celarMemberYeah, I like the New York preset but I noticed it can get into "listener fatigue" territory real fast! (I think Adam uses New York too — assuming he’s still using that in Breakaway Live)
I started using New York mostly because I couldn’t get the other presets to maintain consistent dynamics (between songs of different genres). But "New York" brought in a few other issues: squashing, pumping, etc. So I had to twiddle around and turn down a few things there too.
Maybe a new preset could fill this gap. If you find a preset that does a better job holding the spectral balance than "CHR", but isn’t quite as squashed as "New York" or "Amsterdam", that would be sweet.
celarMemberHAH, yes exactly…
celarMemberAh– so that must mean that in the BBP promo, the guy mispronounced your last name. Turns out I had the wrong pronunciation for both first & last. 😯
celarMemberThanks Leif. I’ve been playing some more with the sound of BBP, and may I just say, you are an awesome engineer and all-around tweaker. 😀

"Concerto for pin-drop and air horn"… I swear, that is the funniest damn thing I’ve heard this month. I’ve already worked it in to a joke at the office.HA, thanks Leif…
