Just so I’ll know everything about the product features: Is there any trade-off when using the Phase Scrambler, that might make you want to turn it off in some cases? Since it’s defeatable, something in my brain says "well then there must be some scenario when someone wouldn’t want to use it".

    Hi Celar!

    Excellent and valid question.

Personally, the only time I turn it off is when I feed test tones through the processing chain.

The phase scrambling does slightly alter the audio, but it’s nowhere near the degradation that happens to certain sounds in the clipper stage if phase scrambling wasn’t applied.

If you’re running *very* light processing, for a purist format, it might make sense to turn it off.. Make sure to try with Kenny G or similar (saxophone + bass) — saxophones are among the first things to be damaged in clipping if you turn it off.

Thanks Leif. I’ve been playing some more with the sound of BBP, and may I just say, you are an awesome engineer and all-around tweaker. 😀
