Hi Leif,
The part i find objectionable in your example is right on 0:15 when it kicks in.
I’ve made a little (crappy) graph to explain what I hear visually. I love the way everything else with Breakawaky Live works (well a Leif stereo enhancer dsp would be good 😛 but there’s no rush for that), it’s just the AGC that I reckon could be improved. With all your other projects and accomplishments, I’m sure you’ll work it out 😀

lpy7MemberHey Leif,
This is similar that Volume Logic AGC comparison that I did.
My current settings are:
Reference Heavy NR
Range: 50
Power: 55
Speed: 70It sounds alright at current, but if I reduce the Speed any more, the attack is too slow and very noticeable, especially in the bass region (possibly distorted for a slight second). If I set the speed any higher, the release sounds too quick.
If I increase the Range, Power or both too high above 50, it has the same effect as the Speed being set too low.
Basically my settings are working good, but it leaves me with no room to move without the attack being too slow.
To hear an example with any song, restart Breakaway with Bypass enabled. While a track is playing, diasable Bypass and you’ll hear a loud thud of audio until the AGC settles.
Leif: to be honest, with your example mp3, I think I can still hear what Adam is talking about. It’s not as noticeable, but I think it’s still there.

Breakaway Live output hits 18db on the meter, should that be 0db or is it correct?
Breakaway Personal volume tooltip says 10db is half/double the volume, should that read 6db or is it correct?January 21, 2009 at 12:22 am in reply to: Which (internet) stations using Breakaway at the moment? #6300lpy7Member?
lpy7MemberNah not that one, I’m referring to the mini taskbar display that works in XP & Vista…
Vista:
lpy7MemberDamn. Anything I can try? i tried reinstalling, but no go. Maybe a registry entry I can try? (BTW, using 7 64-bit, if that makes any difference)
lpy7MemberNah, .67 (non-stop, excluding the 10 second update).
lpy7MemberBreakaway Live running non-stop for nearly three weeks now. No bugs or crashes to report 🙂
lpy7MemberInteresting. Thanks.
lpy7MemberHey Leif,
I think i’ve asked this already, but you probably missed it…VAC 4.x vs VAC 3.12, any difference in audio, or is it exactly the same? I’ve read what the differences are between the two, but don’t quite understand it 100%.
Cheers.

Get this lame

replace the lame_enc.dll EdCast is using now.
Out of interest JesseG, any particular reason why 3.90.3?lpy7MemberThanks Leif. They’re some good points there. I guess I shouldn’t be too concerned about it. The main thing is I have it sounding good, now it’s just a matter of a little fine-tuning to suit.
Cheers.lpy7MemberHey Adam,
The overshoots are going over 0dB, you might wanna knock back the peak level to -2 dbFS.
How’s my one Leif, anything bad you can detect in the audio?
Cheers.

Possibly, but if someone can’t find it by typing in your name, it’s as good (or rather bad) as not being listed.
It’s actually spelt as one word, I just felt like using two then 😛
And nice playlist Adam, good tunes, got it bookmarked now. As Leif said, just a bit of distortion going on, otherwise it’s sounding very solid.
lpy7MemberKinda cool being the first, or one of the first to broadcast BA Live 🙂
It’s listed on Shoutcast…only a quarter of the listeners for now though until my bandwidth issue is fixed. Tuner2 found us a couple of years ago, so that’s cool. Xiph I’ve never heard of, might have to look into that one.
