Participant
This brings up a question and while it’s related, I’m sorry if it’s hijacking…
For optimum sound quality and results for streaming…
Should I: A) Put the 1db attenuator plugin under the Plugins section of Breakaway Live first on the list, or…

Thanks.

B) Put the 1db attenuator plugin under the Encoders section of Breakaway Live, before Edcast?I would put the quality on the Breakaway side of things before the Edcast side of things (meaning using the limiter inside of edcast). I mean no offense to John by saying all this as Edcast is WONDERFUL and does it’s main job FANTASTICALLY!
Thanks for the advice and whatever further explanation you could provide along with the answer.

ParticipantI was allowed the great opportunity to visit Farnsworth Peak in SLC where most of the major FMs broadcast from. I was shown around and saw the little black CC clipper boxes on a few of the station’s racks.
I also was put to work in moving out and in some transmitters. Those dawgs are HEAVY!!
It was very educational and a lot of fun!

ParticipantMy question, if this is just for streaming, why use HPF and enable bandwidth limiting at all? Why not shoot the moon and sound as full and complete as possible? No need to filter to protect a transmitter anywhere…
What is the rationale?
Thanks!

ParticipantHave you tried Rustonium with speed backed down to -30 – -40?

Participant
Sorry guys if this has been asked before.
Since lief is/was workig with them is it possible for a new release of Breakaway Broadcast to have a preset that sounds like an Omnia box?
That is, we assume Leif’s working on anything but actual Omnia products… Breakaway not being an actual Omnia product…

ParticipantMy main preset has always been Zenith but I’ve also dabbled in Motor City and Rustonium. The latter is great for an all Christmas format!

ParticipantI wasn’t aware you could run an attenuator plugin under encoders. Whats the diff between having them in encoders versus in effects?
Thanks.

ParticipantI agree, the vocals and lead instruments were all very dull. I thought perhaps my receiver was misconfigured but even when I threw it to plain stereo, it still was lousy. It’s really too bad. Other content on that station, including live sports all sound crystal clear so I doubt the local affiliate or cable provider is causing this.

ParticipantCheck the Power Settings in Control Panel. Choose High Performance and then go into that preset and check all the details. Be sure min and max cpu are both set to 100%, turn off any other power-saving items for USB or PCI or Sleep. MAx that puppy out! Then check in the BIOS for anything about power-saving/sleep/speedstep. Turn all that mess off as well. Start with that, then experiment with drivers, if needed.

ParticipantThat is odd! My first thought is to go through your windows sound settings in control panel and just make sure all your items are balanced properly. Other than that… I’m certain someone here has more info.

ParticipantJesse, how does this -23db standard reflect on your advice to use mp3gain to -85db for all my music files? Does that still correlate pretty well or should I re-gain my library at a different target level? And the -6db adjustment to the replaygain settings inside Winamp?
Thanks.

ParticipantI like the idea of built-in streaming for Live as well.
