One of the preeminent mastering engineers once told me that music mogul Clive Davis has a stereo in his palatial office, his stereo would be turned up to a predetermined spot, and if the master didn’t pass muster at that point it was turned back in for a re-do.

A man in his eighties (and hearing, thereof) determining how loud a CD should be mastered.

This, is just a small taste of what’s wrong with the music biz, kids!

If you’re programming a radio station, 99% of the time, you’re better off playing anything but something that’s been "remastered."

well given hardcore’s line of reasoning, all radio stations should remove their audio processing chains and go straight to the transmitter.

He has a point, but, but the post is irrelevant.

Here’s a 44.1khz 48kbps AAC+ stream using Live, unfortunately, due to the wide varying levels, there’s a compellor in front of it doing level work only.

Is it an issue with your CPU load increasing? As I recall, when I first loaded windows, the CPU load was around 30%…if it’s now around 40-60%, without heat, freezing, or glitching, then, what’s the problem?

    I’m running a custom-built 2.4g Core2Duo w/Intel Mboard, 2 gig of ram and emu0404 soundcard.

Also running Airomate….cpu load ranges anywhere between 45-60%. It goes up, it comes down…it never burps, barfs, belches or farts…it’s been running for 45 days without a hitch or glitch.

Just because you can drive a car at 160mph or km/h…it doesn’t mean you should.

What were the final drive settings on this demo? In our market/city…I even have to push Eruption up to about +1.7 to get to get into the loudness arena around here.

I am a huge fan of this sound. It gives the sonic appearance of being untouched….but better. 🙂

Well…. MPX Tool does come with a new Omnia.11. Which is a great thing!

As far as I know, Noise Reduction is not dependent upon the preset to be functional or not. It’s separate. It’s your choice at any time with any preset.

Passive aggressor sounds like it might be close to the cosmic setting in the omnia6. Very open and doesn’t crush anything.

I am anxious to hear it. 😥

Thanks, I’ve changed things a bit…I am now using the same pre-STL feed that our $10,800.00 processor is taking…which is a compellor…and feeding that into Breakaway as well. Heresy, perhaps to some. (leveling only…no compression on the compellor and certainly no stereo enhancement).

I like it. Slightly more density. I backed out of eruption’s range, certainly…and backed out a touch of range and speed, too.

I tried adjusting the preemphasis down to 50 and it removed too much of the highs. That was with Plutonium.

Frankly, the difference was switching to Eruption.

Several of todays 5000 series WAV cards support 192kHz.

They all support AES, though. I bet the marian trace is a third of the price of the cheapest 192 capable ASI card.

I’ve never seen a card as durable as an ASI, though. Never ever seen one fail. Ever. Bulletproof.

"extreme" is a relative term. To my sensibilities, +19 is extreme. But, it’s all relative.
