Appie, I think I can hear what you are talking about. What I’ll do tomorrow is upload a clip of the updated Point Blank preset with this track for you to listen… 🙂
Lee XSMemberAppie, I’ve managed to source the track now and after a very brief listen, I couldn’t hear anything out of the ordinary that the "other" presets weren’t doing. Can you be more specific?
Lee XSMemberGreetings, there is in actual fact, an update for the Point Blank preset already but I didn’t get it over to Leif in time to have it ready for this release.
Appie, I’m not familiar with that specific track, so can you please upload a processed sample of the problems you are having to just to ensure that it’s not happening in the updated preset. In the mean time I’ll see if I can get hold of the track so I can upload a clip of it with the new preset.
Any more suggestions are welcome. 🙂
Lee XSMemberHey Leif, how do you make a PC boot from a flash drive? 😕
Lee XSMemberKingdaniels,
You may be pleased to know that I am working on a preset for this kind of "Top 40" sound for BBP but hopefully without the side effects, as Leif mentioned.
I agree with both your comments and Leifs, there is a big demand for this flavor with the HIT/CHR stations, it seems to be the type of sound that they want. But weather or not this type of sound is preferred because people actually like it or because people are just following every else’s sound because that’s what they are used to, is another story altogether. It’s not my personal favorite type of sound, (it used to be!) but I’m designing a preset with this sound in mind. I’ve got stations here in London busting my balls for it…..I’ve not had enough time on it yet…but I’ll upload some clips soon for some feedback.
P.S, don’t get too excited also, because it’s up to the main man Leif and the other guys to decide if it will ever go into the BBP package. Also, Kingdaniels, I’d strongly recommend running BBP in 6db clip mode with your setup also. 😉
Lee XSMemberI’ll see what I can do.. 😉
Lee XSMemberThis won’t work for FM broadcast though as you are already using the Pre-emph for EQ high gain like Leif said.
I could make a killer preset of this sound if only I had full control… 😉Lee XSMember

I know it’s a bit offtopic, but interessting too.. modman, are you doing the sound of kiss 100 too? sounds really good..
Thanks, I had something to do with it before EMAP bought Kiss, they still are the loudest sounding station in London!
Do you know what they are using at the moment? I guess orban 8400? Sounds like it..
Nooo, they use O6’s now cranked to the bones, a few years ago they used to sound terrible with the worst bass distortion ever (on occasions, they even used to over-deviate!) but they’ve had a major update to the firmware and that has now gone, stations like Capital and Heart have now have just about caught up in terms of perceived loudness. All 3 stations now dominate London each with slightly different edges to their sound. I love Capitals Mic processing, yes it has that digital grunge to it but there’s something about it!
Staions like, Magic, XFM, and Absolute follow closely behind in the loudness wars!
On the other end of the scale you have Smooth FM (formerly known as Jazz FM) who has a very dynamic sound with ample clarity and depth, very similar to CGould’s classic smooth sounds. They use Orban and don’t drive the clipper hard at all, the only downside is that you do hear some stereo hiss noise and interference in the fringe reception areas due to the output not being ballsed to the wall.

Don’t forget, stations the UK use different "lighter" processing for their web streams compared to the pump heavy processing on the FM. So listening to web stream is a whole different ball game to what they "actually" sound like.
Lee XSMemberThis is exactly the sound I desire here in London, unfortunately for me I set up the audio for a lot of stations here and convincing a lot of these stations to switch to BBP is very hard because they all want their own taylor made type of sound! Using the stock presets just isn’t enough for these people, no offense Leif and everyone else who made the presets, they are very good but you really need full control to satisfy everyone! I know you guys are working on the future versions so all is good.
So in the meantime we are only using the Final Limit 12db preset with our own array of plugins and settings in front, to get the sound we want…..
See what you think of this Gwen Stefani track… 😀
Lee XSMemberHi Coner & Lumper,
That is most helpful, thank you.
Turns out I had the ms set to 15 all this time…. 🙂
Lee XSMemberLumper, where do you find the "ms" settings in Spartacus? I don’t see it in mine, only Percentage upto 400% and Default, Heavy & Crazy presets?
Lee XSMemberWhat Leif said is very true, if this doesn’t work try this….
If you have a audio gain control on your Tx then I recommend you adjust this and the output of breakaway so that they are both in medium range. It sounds like one of the gains is very high and the other is very low, this will stop pilot tones getting through on some stereos.
Which modulation monitor did you use? because then this should give you pilot levels anyway.
Lee XSMemberI feel it’s very nice for web radio but it can’t be used for FM. You’d sound quieter than everyone else! It’s very clean though, almost like a beefed up reference preset!
Lee XSMemberCool, so basically one of these….(with a few mods)

and a Laptop with MPX Tool is everything you need to set BBP properly?
Does the laptop need a decent sound card?
