I played my Kate Bush remix of Running Up That Hill and a few other vinyl goodies I have though Breakaway’s Plutonium preset, and the sound blew me away. It handled the occasional vinyl pop better than any processor I’ve *EVER HEARD*.

    Listen to Bassdrive.com

I’ve personally worked on this show for the last 5 years. 🙂 Possibly the best sounding show that plays vinyl on the planet. The gear from end to end is PRIME. Over the last 5 years we spent about 50 grand getting it just right. 🙂

About 80% of the stuff played is unreleased and unsigned too, all the best cuts, so if you like Drum & Bass too… this is one of the shows to check out stuff months before it is out. All the top D&B DJs are trainspotting this one. 😉

Yes, we’re also testing BBP with vinyl. The vinyl we play here is a bit older than what the previous two posts were talking about 🙂. This means that the quality differs from record to record, which makes it more difficult to process. You want to be somewhat loud, but not at the expense of sounding really awful 🙂.

We use an Esi Juli@ for input and Breakaway Live output. BBP uses a Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS that is connected to a (homemade) transmitter.

BBP is using the ‘Twente’ preset with roughly these parameters:

    Final drive: +1
    Range: 65
    Power: 75
    Speed: 50
    Bass cut: -15
    (Impact plugin: 1/1)

I recorded some fragments (tuner output -> m-audio delta 44 input), which you download here: http://www.speedyshare.com/189342961.html. I know, it’s compressed, and not the actual MPX signal, but it’s just to give you a rough impression. Also, the tilt was not configured properly yet (we will use a Pira75 analyzer for that).

Personally, I think it sounds quite alright. What bothers me the most are the higher frequencies, which stand out a bit too much (especially when the quality of the record isn’t very good).

It seems the high-end in the Twente preset is a bit overdone. I think I might tame it down a bit for the next version, maybe?

That would be cool. Twente is such an excellent preset. Any attention you can give it (to bring the treble in line with other presets) would pay off a dozen times over.

I agree, your recording sounds more ‘open’. Does that Waves Restoration plug have a big impact on the overall sound? Or is it just there to remove the occasional vinyl crack/pop ?

    Hello,

I’ve got a question for Morsink: What Waves Restoration plugin you use, it sounds very clean without cracks or plops of the vinyl…?
And is this a DSP or VST Plugin?

Sfinx also a question for you: I’ve got some information of that Pira75 Broadcast analyzer and you said here

    quote :

Also, the tilt was not configured properly yet (we will use a Pira75 analyzer for that).

that it is possible to configure the Tilt with that broadcast analyzer? Is that true? Because I have not noticed that the broadcast analyzer of Pira75 is a Oscilloscope(computer based)? It’s not mentioned on the Pira.cz website?

    Thanks in advance.

To do this, you use the modulation monitor function of the Pira75 analyzer. See this page: http://www.claessonedwards.com/index.ph … &Itemid=83
