A "PRE AGC" or "POST AGC" switch perhaps!
Lee XSMemberI just want to confirm I’m not in favour of it either, I may of not been clear towards the end of my post.
I’m actually trying to think of a usefull reason to have Mono and I can’t! 😕
Lee XSMember

He’s got a point. Also in (large) disco’s you do not need stereo sound.
In certain places mono is better than stereo.
Tell that to Ministry of Sound, or any other club DSL has handled. Better yet, audition one of his systems and compare stereo to mono. You’ll find it is needed and makes a huge difference if the system design doesn’t suck. The problem is the system design, not the source or the room/place. But I do agree with you, some systems are designed so badly that mono actually sounds better. Sad but true, but still not a constant.
I agree!
Switching your club Sound system into mono is not the way to go…we’re not in the 70’s anymore1 It’s 2010!!!
Fix the problem rather than choosing the easy way out.
I deal with many club sound systems, most of them (including Ministry Of Sound) use Sondweb DSP from BSS Audio….google them….and I’ve never come across a Mono program design (apart from single speaker zones such as Toilets, Lobby etc…you know what I mean!)
A proper system sounds way better in Stereo even in a big oddly shaped venue, there’s better feel for the music and ambience rather than flat single firing Mono channels….but if the venue has a poor or limited system and there’s nothing you can do about it then, yeah maybe Mono could help make a bad situation a little better!
It’s up to Leif if he wants to chuck the feature in. 🙂
Lee XSMemberIf someone wants to send me an MPX tuner then I will record any station from London you want?? 😆 😆
Lee XSMemberOk so the Mobile Broadband thing didn’t work out as it would of cost around £200 per month just in credit for the bandwidth and that’s even if it was reliable enough with a constant 3G signal!!! 🙁 🙁 🙁
On the plus side, I’ve now got an Ogg vorbis stream set up doing nothing……so if any of you guys are curious to see what an OGG stream sounds like at 128mbps then check this out…..(copy & paste URL into your winamp etc)

🙂 🙂 🙂
Lee XSMemberThanks…I’m gonna try the Vorbis for now…..
Already got Edcast and Icecast hooked up…just sorting the Vorbis side of things out now, see how it goes. 🙂
Lee XSMemberIf I remember rightly…you have to make to sure you send both stereo Pilot and RDS from Airomate to BBP.
In BBP select 2 Channels (MIX) in the RDS Input Pipeline and BBP should sync them for you.Someone can confirm this?
Lee XSMemberHDMI all the way Leif….it’s the way forward and if people don’t have it now….they soon will! 😉
If you build this with 5.1 and HDMI I will personally build a HTPC especially for it….unless you can somehow get this to work on the PS3 platform?? 😆
Lee XSMember
in the 0 to 48kbps area, I would go with the latest Coding Technologies PS-AAC codec.
In the 48-96 area it’s pretty much a tie between CT’s latest HE-AAC, and the current aoTuV tuning of Vorbis (v5.7)… Vorbis has the advantage the higher the bitrate goes (by around 64kbps), and sits very pretty between the weak point of the transition from HE-AAC to LC-AAC, in the 80 to 160 kbps area.
What I would do is go with Vorbis at 128-ish kbps if you have the STABILITY at that bitrate. Otherwise go with PS-AAC at 48 kbps.
OK nice one, I’m going to give the aoTuV Vorbis 5.7 a try at 128 kbps and see how it goes…..
What do I have to do (or not do)or download differently from Leifs settings on this thread to get this going? any info or weblinks would be great. 😉

Lee XSMemberI found that on these scenarios if you ensure that the CPU keeps cool it helps A LOT!
Try re pasting the CPU with some fresh decent Thermal compound and maybe even upgrade the heatsink/fan for a nice meaty one, they are only a few quid…and then make sure you got some decent case fans…..
Also make sure you blow or hoover out all the "furry" dust build up.
And obviously make sure you don’t have any unnecessary programs running in the background on the PC…look at Task Manager to see what’s running. A clean XP install is also a good idea if the PC has been used previously for day to day usage.
I had a PC that would "fall over" after a few days of continuous usage and it would start skipping like you said and then after doing some of the things I’ve just mentioned, it would run for weeks or months without a problem.
If this doesn’t help then I’m afraid it’s about time you went (at least!) dual core…. you could build a decent one these days with all bells and whistles for less than £300!!!
God Luck. 😀
Lee XSMemberYep, got it…..thanks. 😉
Lee XSMemberHi icy,
For the installation, will this boot and load from disk in DOS?
Lee XSMemberErm, I’ve seen a few Dance stations use a range of presets, from New York, Point Blank, Amsterdam & French Kiss, it’s down to your personal preference at the end of the day. Can you be more specific on what type of Dance?
Lee XSMemberOut of those 3 I’d say New York with the range turned up to 55 to compensate for tracks with a lot of bottom end, this will even it out and give the Mids/Tops a chance to catch up.
Lee XSMember
Lee, have you tried using the paralell port to create a square wave? you can then cal your scopes, or at least tell which one is reading correctly.
Good idea!, I just need to dig out an out printer lead so I can chop it up….not seen one of those in ages! 😀
