I am searching for a good AGC plugin for use with breakaway before the other DSP plugins
Can you please help me find a good "soft" AGC plugin ?
let’s say a plugin that will raise the imput volume after 7 or 10 seconds softly sooooftly..?

Or better yet, the ability to load the "before" winamp plugins after the Breakaway AGC. I can’t remember if I’ve directly suggested it to Leif before, but I still think it’s not a bad idea, even if it does add a slight delay.

yeap! that’s also very good idea,
if the DSP plugins are loaded after the bult-in breakaway AGC control they will perform excellent with all songs,
    100% efficiency 🙂

    that’s good!

A "PRE AGC" or "POST AGC" switch perhaps!

This is a good idea in theory, but in practice it fails on one important point:

Winamp plug-ins use 16-bit integers. Thus, they clip at 0dB — there’s no headroom.

An AGC with 25dB range can have momentary +25dB overshoots before it has time to react, and clipping those to get into a 16-bit plug-in would sound awful. Attenuating by 24dB before the clipper would work, but we’d lose 4 bits of resolution.

On the other hand, the day I have time to do native VST plug-in support in Breakaway, I might do it.

While it hasn’t been true of the SDK for a few years, it still is true even for most plugins to be released/updated since the support came out. A very good point you make there. Like, Duh. 😉

Cheers, hopefully your move went great.
