I tried uninstalling and reinstall both BL and BAE, rebooting between each, several times, couldn't find a way to make it work. I've attached the screenshot. I tried it in a freshly installed Win10 Familial 32 bits inside a virtual machine just to make sure my system is clean. BAE always runs perfectly, but not BL.

If needed, I can give a remote access to this VM so you can do all the tests you want.

If anyone reading this post and somehow concerned about the future of Breakaway in newer versions of Windows could write a mail to the following address:

    code :windows_system (at) claessonedwards.com

Maybe this would make Claesson Edwards Staff know that we, customers of Breakaway, want an answer to our problem.

Last answer I got (21/11/15) was the same as last year's :

    quote :

Thanks for taking the time and effort to research the problem and write to us.

Yes, we are quite familiar with the problem and solution.  Leif is planning to release updated versions of all the Breakaway products early next year.  The new versions will be compatible with Windows 8 & 10.

We will notify you when they are ready.

I doubt this takes that long to do…

Probably Software Protection problem (Win License or Themida or both). You cant do nothing till that one is updated.
It is the software protection indeed. Some other software, like games, suffered from this bug as well, I looked how they fixed it and… all they did was to update the protection and then it worked. That's why I think it would be interesting that Leif made an upgrade too, because Breakaway is still sold, and shipped with this bug, so it doesn't only afffect long-term customers, it affects new customers too, and also those who try the demo first and see that it doesn't work… Too bad, one sell lost!

Personally I still have the "internal exception occured (Address: 0x0), please contact support@oreans.com".

Weird thing is I tried a cracked version of BAE (yes I know it's wrong…) which in fact is totally unprotected (no more WinLicense junk, original executable code), and it works very well, even on an Atom tablet with Win10 Home 1511 (it worked with "Win 8.1 with Bing" too). I wish I could have such an "unprotected version" of Breakaway Live too, to have access to a proper equalizer…

Please Leif, do something, just tell us how to make it work on newer systems or give us some new exe…

EDIT: Interestingly, Breakaway Live 0.90.96b works on Windows 10 (Pro at least) 1511 64 bits… Doesn't work on 32 bits OS. What's the difference??

Got a quick reply from Claesson Edwards support:

    quote :

    Hello

The current version of Breakaway is not compatible with windows 8.  We plan to release a new version early next year that will be compatible.

    Breakaway support

So I have to wait… New version, hum? Early next year, hum?…

I think he means that the Latest version topic is unavailable because you need a login to access it:

    http://www.ceaudio.com/beta/breakaway_s … .02_rc.exe

Asks for a login/password (and a 401 if you fail at it).

There isn’t any 17.5 kHz in Breakaway Live… Does Broadcast ?

You can still get Breakaway Live, and then you’ll be able to run up to 4 stereo-independant audio engines with low latency. But you’ll have to pay for two cores in your case (something like $200).
I do intend to make a Breakaway Home Theater software product, and I believe it will be exactly what you’re looking for, MWyann!
Thanks for the confirmation Leif 🙂 I think I’ll enjoy it very soon then 🙂 I remember one time, when I simply connected a 2.1 sound system to BL, my neighbour who came watching Alien vs Predator with me at home with the video projector told me that he had the impression that "the sound came out of the wall"… 😉 And I do not have any latency problem with BL, I can watch movies, even play games and I never had a problem.

As I can read, BHT will then include the UPMAX II algorithm and Undo, amongst others… sounds promising, no pun intended 😉 If you want me to try it out here, you’re also welcome to test it here i you come to France some day 😉
Breakaway won’t batch process since it’s a "real time" processor.
The "real-time" is not a requirement, it’s just processing sound it’s being fed with, so if you feed it with some wave data instead of a sound stream, it’ll do its job just fine. If Leif thought it was possible, then it IS possible 🙂 "Gewoon omdat het kan" 😉

Man, this post sounds just as good as Undo 😉 I’ve never looked forward a summer like this one in the past 🙂

Well, I thought, with the INI you can easily set up Breakaway with all the correct values without having to change every setting by hand : just back yours up, replace it by mine, change the io settings and you’re good to go. But if you prefer, here is a screenshot 🙂 Every other window not present in the picture is just set to default.

Good one Leif 😉 I also love the "Because we can" statement, I know (and am a customer of) a hosting company here in France (OVH) and they do a lot of stuff too, because they can 🙂 for example, SIP telephony, SMS gateway, VPS, and ADSL provider too…

I’ve got a question though, but I wasn’t there: what about the Breakaway versions? Will they be made available before the box? Which features? And last, can I get a free license, "because you can" give it to me ? 😉 (kidding of course, you deserve your money 😉)

Thanks a lot eldoradofm for this recording 🙂 It looks very promising, and I’m really looking forward the software versions that will be made available.

(BTW I wondered what was the jokes at 28:36 and 31:38 and 34:23 and after too.. like 53:06 I can’t get it ? 😉)
and please listen for more than 5 minutes to be sure that you don’t hear only 80s bad recordings .. 🙁
be patient and keep in mind that the loudness is ….at very very extreme levels .
Also I think, when people scans stations with their radio receivers (which seems to be the Graal for you), you can’t ask them to "stay more than 5 minutes", because your station can sometimes sound bad. People will not stay 5 minutes, but much more like, say… 5 seconds 😉 So you have to make your station sound properly on 99% of the songs you’re playing, not just sometimes. Or people will bounce off when they’ll reach your station. Carefully choose your songs (and song quality),and your settings to keep clear over all of them.
