Heya Leif,

Just to be on the safe side.. is it advisable to switch to your latest forum release ?
Besides the red blinking bars there is no sound problem… so we don’t mind.

greets.. and Thailand ? better weather ?
The only thing you can do with this version is: create a batch file that kills BA, replaces the ini file, and then starts BA again.
You could shedule this batch file to run at 4 am or something. It will give you a few seconds of silence, but it will work.
Don’t want the silence? Wait for the hardware version:)
We run it very simple with a macro scheduler.. its precise to the nanosecond 🙂….

Hey,

I had the problem again today.. the red blinking bars.
And while it happened , i looked at the processor/memory load , memory remained constant at 10%.
The processor load increased from 27 to 59 %.
The input oscilloscope did not give any sign of clipping. The output oscilloscope did not clip.
The clip warning (is it still in the settings/calibration area?) did not blink.
The audio that came out of BBP was perfect. No problem.
I rerouted the studio&STL to another processor and got BBP offline , did not switch it of or changed anything, the result was no audio input to BBP and the bars went on blinking in a steady interval! one sec red , one sec normal.
Cause i read something about an dpc latency checker , i had it running with it.. it floated around 100Us and a maximum of 300. No problem there.

So…. next time i’ll try to find the exact source of the increased cpu load and take a look at the hmzzz ultra vnc program ?
which is the only thing running next to the standard programs.

Ehm crap? Now what ?

Hello , just an update about the 0.90.80 –

Its up and running for some weeks now.. and today i noticed an error.
A minor one.. the overall red colour you see when the signal clips was present (red blinking bars) even when the levels were just fine.

the audio was ok.. no glitches there.. everything else was working fine.
a quick switch to the i/o settings and back solved it.

no resets.. no changes of parameters.

thought you would like to know.

greets ,

heya… the gods are with us…

still using 0.90.80 .. did not downgrade.. in stead i just rebooted and waited for something to happen. (and monitored the signal as much as possible)

We’ll the previously mentioned problems did not occur yet.. and its running for two weeks now.

maybe it was just a bit of bad luck back then…

greets..
Oh trust me, when I tried BBP for the very first time and plugged in that exciter to a soundcard…I clearly realized when something worked right…in fact I about hit the FLOOR.
Am i the only one who, in pure bliss , floated to the roof… and bumped my head ?

Without any BS… next month i’ll attend the IBC in Amsterdam.. the international broadcast convention, which i go to every year for quite some time now… I NEVER SAW ANYTHING LIKE BREAKAWAY there.

So Leif…. Well Done!

Hey Leif,

I’ll drop a screenshot here.. this is whats running.

strange thing … we have bought the computer for BBP, and it ran the demo’s since version -.49 and we didn’t have a problem there.
The computer runs in a 19" cabinet.. cooled..

We ran the demo of 0.90.77 without problems for weeks and weeks.. then we added the purchased key… and updated it to 0.90.80.
then we bumped in to this little problem..

Voices inside my head (and of my colleagues) tel me to downgrade to .77 and wait for IT!
🙂

cheers !

Hello Leif,

unfortunately i have to let you know about a problem in 0.90.80.

We got it up and running for a week.. with no errors.. then yesterday the processor got the flu.
the audio came out like riding a bumpy road. Turning up the buffer to "huge" buffer worked for one day. Then it started over again.
processor load was under 30% , the memory usage was 10% no other programs on the pc running besides the OS.

resetting the pc fixed it. (temporarily i think)
winxp 2002 sp2
dual core proc. 2.2Ghz
4Gb mem.

greetzz..

in reply to: New feature for BBP??? #8121
Found this article in a broadcasting industry news letter. Possible new feature for the Breakaway family of products? 😆

KroneHit Blasts Mosquitoes
08.12.2009

Vienna, Austria-based music station KroneHit is offering listeners an unusual summer prize — a mosquito-free environment.
Since mid-July, the station has embedded a 14,850 Hz tone in its audio signal in an effort to discourage mosquitoes from biting KroneHit listeners.

According to a Google translation of the KroneHit Web site (http://www.kronehit.at/), the tone imitates the buzzing of a female mosquito, discouraging other female mosquitoes from approaching. The 14,850 Hz tone corresponds to a 27th harmonic of a mosquito’s hum (550 Hz), making it imperceptible to human ears.

The station cites Dr. Michael Müller of Kiel, a city in northern Germany on the Baltic Sea, as saying that “within a radius of five meters around the radio, mosquitoes will no longer bite.” It does not work if you wear headphones and according to the site, the level is adjusted to avoid harming pets.
yeah, every year the same hoax… but we fell for it the first time.. actually we tested it with a tone generator and a couple of specially trained mosquitoes..after exposing them to the 15000Hz tone.. fire.. and a bottle of anti-mosquito.. they just disappeared !
guess you cant equip BBP with a flame thrower and a anti mosquito spray ?

greetos ,

right.. like we did not do that. pfffffff

Of course we did that… and it worked fine afterwards…

But hey… i thought it would help someone by pointing at the problem we had.

kind regards..

in reply to: Keeps freezing our streaming PC #7159

Hi folks,

I had a problem like the one described here.
On a win2K machine without proper drivers for the videocard..(that is the only thing wrong on the machine)
A demo of breakaway audio enhancer (not the pro version).
soundcard : m-audio audiophile 192
win2K sp4
P4 2Ghz
500mb free mem
It is a clean install without any aditional programs.

The computer restarts everytime i close breakaway or close the i/o settings.

On a clone pc (only with updated driver software) it has no problem what so ever.

Kind regards,

Joop Krauthausen
