I was having a good laugh about that topic yesterday, when someone mentioned that song on Radio-Info.JesseG
MemberAbsolutely. The majorly reduced noise of mono wins every time vs *maybe* a few radios not displaying RDS.
Also, if the pilot is there, the radio will operate in stereo mode, no matter if there’s a LSB/USB L-R signal or not. For instance, playing mono content on an FM-Stereo broadcast, such as voice. 😉 The radio will start to mix to mono as the signal to noise ratio of the pilot itself starts to drop towards noise.

Member
Is the new motor city present a present for all kind of gerne’s??? or is it more a rock present?
somebody a nice present off motorcity for me?
Not quite sure what that last sentence means, but Motor City doesn’t just have to be for rock. See if you like the texture for the style of music you play, and think about what your listeners want. If it works for them, then great. 8)

MemberThe most popular television broadcast audio processors in the world run Breakaway as the core audio processing, and cost $15,000+ … as heard on the super bowl, olympics, grammy’s, eurosport, nbc/abc/cbs/fox/etc, and most digital television period.
NOTHING is "poor cousin" with that audio processing inside of it, with any feature set, at any price.
Hopefully nuff said.
If the feature set isn’t right for you, and one of the other options is, talk to support about what you can upgrade to. That’s what I would do. Maybe you want all of the added features in a multi-core Live setup.

Read it with open ears. 🙂 Strut your stuff with CG duder. Good on ya.

MemberAll marketing aside… the inside has changed as little as the outside has. 2.5 to 3 dB less of high frequency protection limiting is not going to do much to clean up the sound of the unit, especially when 2/3rd of the distortion product isn’t coming from the treble.
I’m not saying the slight change won’t be good, I bet it is… but that whole platform is a lame duck at this point. And the 8585 is pretty much not even usable for the intended market. They need to start over from scratch just like Omnia has, and ditch the DSP chip platform and join the growing crowd (two’s a crowd?) of true next generation processing.
As far as the O11 being the star of the spring NAB show, that’s not even a debate. I would be shocked (and happy) if BW brought anything truly "next gen" to the show.

Member
Will someone "bench" this thing 🙂
Stelios, can you make some records in MpxTool from transmitter? Any test is welcome now.
There have been some benches earlier in this topic I think…
and using MPX Tool to listen to how good this sounds through a receiver is pointless. There isn’t a receiver in existence that can touch how high quality this is. Any receiver used will degrade the sound because the receiver isn’t high enough quality to capture how accurate the DDS exciter is. Not to mention an additional ADC stage.
That’s besides the point. Every step in the overall quality counts. The fact remains that it would be difficult to get near this quality even with a very well tuned "digital" (actually only part digital) exciter like the ones Harris makes. Which cost thousands upon thousands of dollars.
Getting the picture yet? 8)

Since you started the topic, you should be able to click "edit" button on your 1st post, and change it. 🙂JesseG
MemberThe new Zenith will probably make it. Not sure on Motor City, totally up to Leif. Breakaway Audio Enhancer has the same concerns as Breakaway DJ, as far as the need to retain some of the original micro-dynamics.
There’s of course also the whole idea of the up-sell. Pretty much everyone selling more than one of anything has an up-sell to better products. In this case… BAE –> Live or DJ. And still to come, the surround sound version of BAE. 😉

Memberrendered this tune earlier for a friend who said it pumps like the dickens on the Omnia 6.
not sure why Motor City didn’t end up in Breakaway Live, probably was just a mistake, but it should be in the next version of Live. Celeste also wasn’t in Live, not sure why there… if it’s been ported from the FM version or not.
JesseG
MemberMarian Trace Alpha, if you’re going to be translating to AM. Otherwise that or an ESI Juli@ for FM which is a tad easier/cheaper to get.

Member
The user feeds the exciter with a nominal audio level -12dBFS, and then defines from the menu how many kHz deviation he wants.
It should be made to be able to adjust what the nominal level is too, if that is possible. -3dBFS is way more than enough for Breakaway, and will improve where the 16bit noise floor is a tad.JesseG
MemberGreat things take time, and more is getting added other than bugs, lol.
Have a great spring time, to everyone in the northern hemisphere who may read this.
