All marketing aside… the inside has changed as little as the outside has. 2.5 to 3 dB less of high frequency protection limiting is not going to do much to clean up the sound of the unit, especially when 2/3rd of the distortion product isn’t coming from the treble.
I’m not saying the slight change won’t be good, I bet it is… but that whole platform is a lame duck at this point. And the 8585 is pretty much not even usable for the intended market. They need to start over from scratch just like Omnia has, and ditch the DSP chip platform and join the growing crowd (two’s a crowd?) of true next generation processing.
As far as the O11 being the star of the spring NAB show, that’s not even a debate. I would be shocked (and happy) if BW brought anything truly "next gen" to the show.
