I am not competent enough to start talking about K S, as I said at the outset I am not a techy type person.

Bose users suggest it is a Breakaway problem.
"KS" is an output interface option in Breakaway, all you have to do is select it from the dropdown that sets output interface… For instance in regular Breakaway Audio Enhancer:

    Interface: KS

The reason I"m asking is to see if you tried another method besides Kernel Streaming, because that’s the 1st thing I would try if it says the soundcard is being used. Maybe the soundcard really is being used, but maybe (as I previously suggested) the Bose doesn’t support Kernel Streaming.

If that’s the case, and Bose and those people can’t even answer that for you, then you’re already getting way better help here (to try our suggestion), than the lack of help and bad advice from the Bose forum.

It’s not a problem with Breakaway. 😉 I know that’s a fact. It just has to be used correctly with some hardware that doesn’t support all of the capabilities that it normally should under Windows. If that’s the case here, then that’s Bose’s fault.

Try another interface in your Breakaway settings as I showed you and let us know.
When and how much? Got a prototype pic?
I can’t say, I can’t say, and no but it’ll look really nice. I don’t wanna give any specifics in case they change em, but it’ll have a large touch screen on it, military grade controls/switches, and a sexy anodized (a clearish coloring process) metal faceplate. It’s going to look really pro… it’s getting mass produced so it’s not going to look like a hacked up computer case anywhere on the front or the back or the inside. 8)
Very cool! So that’s going to be a hardware box, not one of these sound-cards to be installed on a computer à la Orban or Sound4, correct? Very exciting indeed!
Well the Sound4 is actually completely isolated from the computer other than for getting its power source, and I think you can remote control it through the PCI-E port too (in addition to the network)… but don’t quote me on that.

Breakaway’s audio component doesn’t even use Windows’ audio subsystems, it’s completely custom from the hardware to Breakaway.
What about off-site servers? I gather we’ll need to set each of those up with the new box?
I’m not sure what you mean here.

It should be quite low latency even with KS, if you’re able to optimize the buffers to the point where the machine’s DPC latency is the only bottleneck.

What core mode are you using in Breakaway… Phase Linear? or Extra Low Latency?

Frank pretty much replied with what I would have said, him using fewer more eloquent words.

And I added a thing at the end that I was trying to edit some of the "bite" from when I got rejected from more edits. 😉 Oh well, it’s all true, and pimping the truth shouldn’t hurt. Too much. Unless you considered Breakaway but paid 13 grand for another box based on those misconceptions. That might hurt a little bit. 😉

I can’t leak any information, but I can say that it’s already been in the works for YEARS now. There will be some surprises when it’s officially announced. 😉

As far as demo units, I haven’t heard about that aspect yet, but I would imagine that’s what will happen. That’s how you sell audio processors, and I’m sure Leif (and everyone else involved) intends to do so. 8)
PLEASE say there will be a full-control
yes
software version available…
It’ll only come with the hardware box and will require the totally custom audio card (part of the copy protection) that’s in it in order to be useful. So I guess it’s only half of what you really wanted. But I will say that it has usability features that FAR surpass anything that anyone has done with a processor up to this point, that are integral to Leif’s new software platform which is designed from the ground up for very rapid development of new products… If there is ever a hardware box that you have wanted most since the 8100A1 (and maybe XT2), then Leif’s box will become that box.

I can’t wait to start on the mastering box too. The possibilities the framework opens up are totally cool for that market, and I can’t wait to hear the first wax cut directly from the clipper running in RIAA emphasis mode.
Which stream? I’ve heard it on my "built-in" flash player on my listen page.
The 48kbps aac, and going by the sound of the little blip of silence, i would think it’s on all the streams if they are all sourced at the same point.
So, no doubt the next release will be a real blockbuster.
Affirmative. 8)

And p.s. when I teased, I didn’t know that such a drastic change would build up in the pipeline, but when it releases, it’ll be worth it. Way more than just waiting for 2-3 presets, especially with the new products, and more "free-time" for Leif. (and hopefully some real free-time too)

Yeah nice station Dave. Can’t wait to hear Passive Aggressor on it. 🙂 There is some kind of slight audio skip thing going on, like a split second of silence every now and then.
When do we get to experience passive aggressor first hand?
Soon, but it’s nothing like Eruption. It’s actually less processed sounding & more open than Reference (!!) on the micro-dynamics… but it has a very solid macro-dynamics that’s more ideal for broadcasting than Reference or Zenith. Dunno if that gives you an idea of what to expect.

One thing is for sure though, it seems to be even more enjoyable & relaxing for long-term listening than anything else so far.

It’ll be coming out whenever the next generation of the existing Breakaway products comes out. 8) There’s some awesome changes coming, but the cat is happy in the bag for now.
should i trow away the Yellowtec VIP-1 (Analog) ??
Heck no. 🙂

I like the digital ones more since they are slightly more accurate & controlled and of course the smart card recall for each jock = priceless. Otherwise both are killer.

Yellowtec and the 286A = my favs for jocks.
VoxBox + Mullards & Evantide verb = my fav for VO persons.

Try also disabling the SRC in Breakaway config, which should be fine if you’re using the same card for input & output.

And of course the combination of reducing jitter and with & without the SRC.
