Hello. Version 1.20.22 works fine with USB headset……so is 1.20.21. Let me explain…..
After installing 1.20.21 I selected my audio card as output device (via wizard) so it worked fine….. What I didn’t noticed (untill you mentioned it in earlier post) is that BAE set Channels to 8 (must be max supported by sound card), so when I tried to swich output to USB headset (via expert or wizard) it was trying to do so with 8 channels, and it seems my headset supports only 2…..thus the "bug error". After installing 1.20.22 I selected output device as Headset and it set channels automaticaly to 2….thus Headset and Sound card works fine with channels set to 2….
So I guess that bug is fake….sorry about that.

Oh well I already figured out it’s not a bug it’s (probably) trial limitation.
November 2, 2009 at 5:07 pm in reply to: Breakaway Audio Enhancer NEW BETA with Windows 7 support #4941Maniak2000MemberHello. Another bug I found "Bypass" is randomly enabling itself. Can’t pinpoint the cause because it doesn’t happen often, but I know I am not enabling it. Last time it happened when I was playing the game, at the time output was set to sound card (KS interface). This bug wasn’t present in earlier version.
Update: It may be a coincedence but it seems that "bypass" is enabling itself right before little window pops up asking to buy BAE……….So maybe it’s not a bug?
November 2, 2009 at 7:52 am in reply to: Breakaway Audio Enhancer NEW BETA with Windows 7 support #4939Maniak2000MemberYes USB headset worked fine in version 1.20.12 using KS interface in XP and 7.
P.S. No volume up down keys? I thought you were going to add those (customazible)
November 1, 2009 at 7:53 pm in reply to: Breakaway Audio Enhancer NEW BETA with Windows 7 support #4937Maniak2000MemberHello. I installed this new version, and now it detects my sound card without Safe mode (DS interface) yay))).
And the first bug – When switching to USB headset output (KS interface), following error comes up: "Error starting audio Engine: Unable to find usable pin.
Device does not support requested format, or sound device is busy"… If DS or Wave interface is used (Output) everything works fine. Sound card works fine in KS interface. No other bugs detected….yet
P.S. "Volume control" effect seems to be turned on by default.
Maniak2000MemberYes it does detect it in Safe mode and seem to be working fine, it doesn’t see it without safe mode though….why?
and what is safe mode in this program?
Maniak2000MemberMost games won’t allow to change sound output device……from within the game anyway, and game’s configuration files aren’t always in plain sight and or in plain text. For that matter most games just use default device, which in my case is BAE.
Maniak2000MemberSo in other words it is safe to use "volume control" as long as I keep volume sliders in players and such to the max, except games. Am I correct?
At least until next version.
Maniak2000MemberSo that mean the only solution to this problem is "Game mode" button described above? Since it will be easier for most users then to download separate control panel and check uncheck there.
Maniak2000MemberMany games have volume control for music, voice, SFX and maybe something else and some have "Master" or "overall" slider on top of that. If there is a difference between those sliders (program-wise or Breakaway algorithm-wise) why not set it so that BAE will ignore game’s "Master" slider but allow volume change on SFX music etc sliders by default. Since game’s Master Overall slider is the same as BAE volume slider (or sound card headphone overall volume slider) while SFX, Music, Voice seem to be different.
Update: Along with game’s volume I can change volume by means of video audio player control, and BAE fights this as you described earlier, however isn’t player’s volume control is the same as game’s Master volume or Sound card overall volume control? In that case won’t method mentioned above solve this too?
Or maybe it is possible to create "Ignore list" programs in that list will ignore BAE (or BAE will ignore them) so that programs in ignore list will have full control over volume while not "damaging" the rest of the system volume (controlled by BAE).
Or maybe it is possible to add another button like Bypass and call it Game mode or something that will turn on
off "volume control" like in that control panel.Maniak2000MemberThank you, volume control seem to work now.
Why this option wasn’t in program? Is there any "Side effects"? Or it will be added in next version? Speaking of which – when the next version will be released?
On a side note – there isn’t apply button but Set button, and you need to close Breakaway to make changes. Not a problem just thought I write about it.
Maniak2000MemberVolume sliders for main sound card and this Microsoft GS synth … thing… seems to be linked. When I lower main volume in GS synth sond card’s main volume also decreases and vice versa. Currently I solved this by lowering "Synthesizer" or "Sw synth" (not sure about correct translation) slider almont to off (1, 2 or maybe 3 above off) in sound card volume controls (this afffected default MIDI device settings as well). That maked MIDI volume not that freaking loud maintaining "Normal" sound volume to the max and handled by breakaway.
P.S. By the way when MIDI music is playing breakaway doesn’t "see" it. (I mean it’s Osciloscope).
Maniak2000MemberYes Volume up down keys also control Pipeline’s volume (even though changing that volune has no effect) If I connect my USB headset, then the keys will control Pipeline and Headset volume but leave sound card alone. It’s either notebook specific problem or notebook model specific I think. If anyone else with a notebook could confirm how volume up down keys work for them it would be great.
Also if I put my notebook in sleep (hibernate) mode while let’s say game is playing then when I load it up again sound’s gone and when I change output device in breakaway settings it crashes (after pressing finish), however after that I just start it again and everything’s fine (don’t even have to restart game). I didn’t tested it much with hibernate mode since I don’t use it on my main PC. edit: it doesn’t always crash but sound seems to always disapear untill I change output device via settings (even to the same one).
P.S. And what about hotkeys? you didn’t answer on my suggestion.
Maniak2000MemberEven though Breakaway Pipeline is set as default output device, Volume up down keys still control both Breakaway’s and Sound card volume…. Maybe they are hard coded or something I don’t know.
As for hot keys… Yes I understand that some hot keys can interfiere with other program’s hotkeys, but if you let people set their own hotkeys in breakaway settings there would be much less chance of that happening since people use different sets of programs. In my case for example ALT+F5 won’t interfiere with anything cuz I don’t use Total Commander and I keep this "Nvidia crap" out of autorun )). Personally I was thinking of using Comtrol+up and Control+Down keys for volume comtrol, but then again if those combinations interfiere with something on other users’ PC, they could always change that to whatever they find more acceptable (if you let them). If you insist on using Preset hotkeys (users can’t change it), then tripple hotkey are less likely to cause interfierence (Control+Shift+up or Control+Alt+up).
Another thing I noticed, Not sure if that’s supposed to be that way. But yu can recreate the situation easily.
Let’s say Breakwaway pipeline is set as your default output device.I have Russian XP so I’ll use images to help.
1) Start some music
2) Go to control panel audio settings (http://www.tinyeye.com/avsetup/images/x … ayback.gif)
3) Select your sound card as your default device, but don’t press ok or apply (I think it shouldn’t matter what you cjoose there unless you click apply or ok)
4) Go to volume control (press volume button)
5) Slide left-most slider up or down (http://www.askdavetaylor.com/0-blog-pic … ontrol.png)And you’ll see that volume actually goes up or down even though breakaway’s volume do not change. I don’t think that should be happening and this may be the cause of my notebook problem.
