MrKloroxParticipant
oops, ignore my previous suggestion. i mistook this for the BA1 forum. ASIO is not in BAE
MrKloroxParticipantI would recommend ASIO if your device supports it. Not to be confused with ASIO4ALL, which is a KS wrapper.
MrKloroxParticipantSo, I can’t currently test, but I don’t recall what FM Mode is in BAE (or if it even exists). It’s not a preset, is it? I will be able to answer your question more clearly once I learn what this is.
Just to reiterate, you can download and freely test/set up BA1 indefinitely. No trial, just the occasional nag. I actually ran BA1 for like a year in this mode before I was able to invest in it. I highly recommend test-driving it before buying, or even deciding if it’s worth it.
One bonus to BA1 over BAE is the 32bit VST2 host allowing the Thimeo Declipper to be used as a plugin on the input. Highly recommend looking into that too.
MrKloroxParticipantI believe yes that the Volume Control box has to do with windows master volume setting. It also had some other artifact on the sound quality the last time I tried it, but that was likely an earlier version of Pipeline/VAC. I think one would skip that checkbox if you want to use external volume control.
MrKloroxParticipantHi. So, BAE is for standard home users who don’t need to stream audio or otherwise broadcast on air. BA1 is more for hobbyists and professionals who want more out of a processor. Yes, it supports 24-bit soundcards, ASIO support (therefore less potential jitter), more sliders and deeper configuration, is based on better processing algorithms so the presets sound better, can stream out via Shoutcast/Icecast, can be controlled remotely, and more I’m forgetting.
BAE2 is in development and doesn’t yet have a public release date. BA1 is not so much an upgrade to BAE, it’s an upgrade to Breakaway Live. It might not be something you need, but it’s free to trial indefinitely with minimal nagging. So go ahead and play around with it and drop some thoughts in the BAE2 wishlist thread if you have some others haven’t noted.
MrKloroxParticipantHi. I believe Breakaway Pipeline is based on the original Virtual Audio Cable, whose documentation you can find here: https://vac.muzychenko.net/en/manual/main.htm
Good luck!
MrKloroxParticipantOh! So the GUI is at least functioning. That was what my suggestion was to find out. If the GUI was somehow not rendering, that warning about not having pipeline installed wouldn’t show up.
Frankly, I don’t have it installed fully right now as it requires Breakaway Pipeline; and I worry it’ll conflict with my existing VAC installation if I do install it. If I could figure out how to trick Breakaway into thinking my official VAC is the Breakaway Pipeline fork, I’d be able to help further.
MrKloroxParticipantHmm, I don’t have Windows 11 yet and this is the first I’ve seen of this problem. However, it might be worth trying to run the app in compatibility mode for an older version of Windows.
What happens if you uninstall Pipeline before running BAE? You should get a box popping up telling you to install Breakaway Pipeline that floats over all other windows.
It might be useful to say what version of 11 is currently running, in case an update messed something up.
MrKloroxParticipantI have an idea regarding this issue: since BAE seems to only be capable of integer scaling, would it be reasonable/ possible/ trivial to make the application “round up” to 2x scale if Windows’ DPI is at 150% rather than rounding down to 1x?
I don’t know how far along BAE2 is, but this seems like this could be a way to extend the life of BAE without redesigning or updating the GUI framework. Could you mark this as an issue for Leif since it seems like it could be fixed, @Milky?
MrKloroxParticipantI think the issue may be BAE might require integer scaling to work. Meaning 1.5x (150%) won’t have any visible effect. Somebody correct me if I’m wrong. Try 200% and see if it doesn’t change.
I don’t know why Windows defaults to 150% when using 4k. It’s clearly supposed to be 200% of a standard 1080p. I guess cause it assumes a 4K monitor is a TV, which always gets 150% scale, even when using 1080p.
150% scale is for 2560×1440 resolutions

MrKloroxParticipantYeah, 1.44 appears with gigantic 2×2 pixels on my 4k screen at 200% dpi scale, without changing any settings in the executable properties. It seems to be correct here. What is your DPI scale?
MrKloroxParticipantThat’s good to know. My only idea would be to look up the Omnia7 manual and try to extrapolate from it; since according to Jesse G. a while back, it’s the closest product to BreakawayOne by Leif.
Still, I think some in-app information popup or right-click entry or something for each slider would be incredibly handy. I’m of the school that going outside of an app to learn how it works is bad accessibility design (said school is called Video Game Tutorials). Milky, could you add this to the list of requests for the upcoming/next versions of these processors?
April 7, 2024 at 10:08 am in reply to: Anyone using ‘Enhancer’ to normalize ‘Youtube’ videos too? #17380MrKloroxParticipantHi again. I found BAE to help with quiet moments in speech-based videos with the Explosion (I think it’s called — or Explosive, I forget) preset. Movies require more dynamic range though, so I’m not sure what works best with those. It’s been a few years since I used BAE.
I hope this helps!
November 23, 2023 at 6:17 am in reply to: Is there a problem with the forum preventing to post? (as of Nov. 22, 2023) #17320MrKloroxParticipantI had this issue too. Not sure what the deal was. I turned off all my ad blockers in case they were interfering, then I tried later and it went through. I’m frankly curious if this reply will go through.
November 22, 2023 at 4:30 am in reply to: Anyone else having problems with BAE and Bitdefender AV? Can´t run BAE #17316MrKloroxParticipantHeya. Tried posting yesterday, but it never went through. I was going to suggest to submit it as a false positive using the correct bit defender submission method for consumers. https://www.bitdefender.com/consumer/support/answer/29358/
This is the way one is supposed to handle this situation.
