Email support: broadcast@claessonedwards.comkes11MemberThis is really weird because aside from one other preset, Oldies is what I use most often and have never had a problem with stereo output. The screen shot shows your right channel is hotter going in but significantly lower in the output. 😕 😕 😕
I would re-boot and see if that helps. Also I’d love to hear your stream with speed at 32……I never run speed that slow on Oldies. Can you give me a link?kes11Member
Hi,
I can’t understand how this software is making my music sound so much better!
I am playing music though xbmc or windows media center and the sound is quite muddy until I turn this software on. I have the sound card set to Hi-Fi mode and all equaliers/regain etc disabled. It’s stereo output from the media center to the amp.
My understanding is that the sound card should convert digital to analogue and then the amp should make it sound great. how can this software improve it so much?
Any answers would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

If you search for forum you will find there are future plans for a "surround sound" version of Breakaway. Idk if you are going to be successful running surround sound until an actual version is written for that.

(gating and freezing are two different things in Breakaway, and there’s some "blend" between the two also) Cheers.
Automatic and user preference settings would nice with this one tokes11MemberMight try this useful little tool: http://www.prnwatch.com/prio.html
It’s amazing what a little "tweaking" for any system can do. 😉kes11MemberDo you know if of these versions also offer a compressor/limiter that can be adjusted?
Yes. I recommend you go to the the creator’s website …. http://www.claessonedwards.com/index.ph … Itemid=139 ….. and read about all the great things each version has to offer. The select the one you think most fits your needs and download the 30 day trial.
Also too, I sometimes like to listen to OTR (Old Time Radio) shows where their recording techniques were HORRIFIC! I’m thinking the parametric EQ could help in eliminating some of the tape hiss. Unfortunately there isn’t really much that can be done with the clipping aspect (unless you know of some tricks) of the recordings. Garbage in garbage out. On OTR recordings they overmodulate during loud musical numbers and audience applause and laughter. It would be nice to curtail those peaks without muffling the rest of the dialogue by bringing down the high end. If you have any suggestions I’m all ears.
Personally, I would start with Reference Classical default settings and adjust to taste if you want more of a flat sound. If you want a more open sound but aren’t sure exactly how to "EQ" it for your needs, I’d suggest Oldies all default and adjust to taste. As you can read on this forum, future versions of Breakaway will contain a brand new technology designed to reverse clipping, "Undo" technology is something the creator of this software, Lief, introduced in Omnia 9, the latest big name processor for radio stations. I have never heard a station running "Undo" yet but from reading trade papers, forums and hearing others talk who are using the box now, there’s just nothing else in today’s market that comes close. So, to make a long story short, "Undo" isn’t available in the current versions so you will just have to tweak until you find a happy medium that balances the bad sounding clipped audio with the good and what your ears can take. HINT: Less compression, remember Power = compression ratio, gives a more open sound. I wouldn’t recommend going above 80 in an instance and in most cases allot lower than that!
How about being able to adjust or enhance the seperation of each channel? Is there anything on Breakaways versions that will allow for such an adjustment?
Breakaway to my ears does a super job of separation out of the box. You can in LIVE turn on the challenger enhancer and expand the separation I suppose. If you use enhancer best advice I can give, search the this forum for settings, JesseG’s are the best IMHO and set it and forget it. If it’s equalization of the channels your looking for go here …. http://www.claessonedwards.com/index.ph … Itemid=139 …. and download the Auto Balance plugin.
Hope all this gives you a little tad bit of information from an old radio and audiophile junkie.
kes11MemberJust sent you the settings u asked for. Check ur messages wouter! 🙂
kes11MemberI think you misunderstand the purpose of Breakaway. You are hearing compression changes in the music. Breakaway Personal does have, if I remember right, an FM Mode that allows some minor changes to the sound by letting you set crossover points and gain. But I also think I read somewhere that it could be counter productive to us the FM Mode. Tilt in your sound card can also change the way things work.
For what you seem to be looking for, I would recommend you download BBP-LIVE and try it if you want more control over the music sound. It has a parametric EQ for the speakers. But that limiter isn’t as clean as the loudness settings so I don’t use the PEQ for anything except to cut certain frequencies like a de-esser would do so that the limiter never raises it’s head. 🙂 BBP-LIVE has a stereo enhancer that is sweet on some presets, to my ears at least. In BBP LIVE its worth keeping in mind that the effect plugins are BEFORE the multiband and the encoder plugins are after. I learned that the hard way! 😳
Get BBP-LIVE and see what you think! Sounds like you would be more pleased with it. 🙂

Downloaded this 100 page baby and just finished reading it! AWESOME processor, all in one, and from what I can understand it’s built on the Breakaway core! For medium and small markets in the states processing with Omnia One, 5, and 6 or other brand processors like the Orban 5500, this new OMNIA.9 deserves a serious look when it comes time to upgrade. I’d buy one myself, but I can’t afford the extra $10K. 😥 😥 😥kes11Member
Yes i know :p
But i had VAC way before i started to use BALive.
Have you tried un-installing both the VAC and BBP-Live then re-installing just the Breakaway software? It sounds like you have a conflict between the two.
kes11MemberI think -20 is as high as you can go. I can honestly say I’ve never touched that setting. If you are having input level problems within 10 db BBP-Live should handle those without any problem. Or, you can turn down your input level or use the plugins to decrease it.
Sorry I can’t explain that setting to you better. 😳
