I’m wondering how I can monitor the output of Breakaway Live while it is streaming? Is it possible to have one Pipeline feed a sound card and the streaming encoder at the same time? Or is there another way of listening to Live in real time while it is streaming?
If you use the Winamp plug-in version of the EDcast encoder that’s exactly what you are able to do…
(viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1533)radio oude stijlMember@Jesse: what will happen with BBP and BL? Any idea about release of the new ‘platform’ including Undo and the Passive Agressor preset?
radio oude stijlMembertry swapping memory between laptops…
Would it damage the audio so hard?
Absolutely…If your sourcematerial (music) is stored in a compressed format and your STL is compressed as well (MP2, MP3, AAC, etc) don’t even consider doing it that way.
Like suggested, use Remote DesktoP or similar solutions.December 20, 2011 at 5:26 am in reply to: Breakaway in STL (Studio to Transmitter Link – IP Link) #12896radio oude stijlMember
Hello!!I’m thinking if it would be possible to let the Breakaway main processing (New York preset) in the studio, and then buy another PC with Breakway (with presets ยฟยฟยฟProtection Clip 6dB, Protection Limit 12dB???) at our Tx site.
Why??? Why not just keep the pc at the TX and use your STL unprocessed?radio oude stijlMember
I uploaded plenty in the past, including the full torture test, but took the files down a while ago. Sorry that you missed it. =)
Missing it is out of the question, but… I’ve seen plenty of photos of the Loch Ness monster too. Never seen the real thing though… ๐
By the way, it sounds even better than those samples I uploaded before, due to a few new tricks being added to Omnia.9’s core.
uhuh 8) …radio oude stijlMemberOk… let me rephrase.
I would like to run VST/Direct-X plugins in the airchain. But a lot of the offered solutions are pretty old, no longer available or simply unstable…
@Jesse: I believe you use adapt-X?
radio oude stijlMemberHow did you find out it is BBP that locks up the PC?
radio oude stijlMemberNo matter what I did, i’ve never managed to get that phat analog sound from a digital box. I know, I know, louder, more transparent, remote controletc, etc… But in the end it still sounds like a digital box ๐ I really really like the 8100/XT2 but I love the 8100 with card #0 and a set of prisms (and a RCF-1 or RCF-2 card)

"coadiuvate" ??
Come on Jesse, you know…radio oude stijlMember
wonder why it doesn’t do it "locally", but only after it goes through the encoder
Because encoding or transcoding always causes overshoots…radio oude stijlMember
I can’t wait to see the first station running a 9 with Passive Aggressor.
D*mn… would I like to get my hands on a Passive Agressor preset for BAL… ๐
BTW Jesse, to kind of go the opposite way of everything you just said: do you know of any good expander plugins to use alongside the declipper (get it closer to O.9)? Or should I just leave it at this?radio oude stijlMember
radio oude stijl told us that he was using the oldies preset, in some earlier replies. it isn’t the zenith preset ๐
It actually is. I’ve done some tweaking and fiddling and went back to my ‘old’ preset which IS Zenith. With BBP we used Oldies.
However I’ve added an extra ingredient, Stereotool 6.20 is added as a plug-in, with only the de-clipper active…It does tend to make the soud a bit too nervous with some songs though, still playing with it
radio oude stijlMember
I’m a little puzzled why you would go down to LIVE from the full version.
I like phatt btw
Hi Pete, I love phatt to, no better way to achieve that than analog processing (personal favourite: Texar Prisms with Orban 8100/RCF-2 and card0)But the sound we are (still) looking for is aimed at the highest quality within the technical limitations that we have to deal with. As neutral as possible and well controlled, smoothing up the difference between songs from the 60ties all the way up to today. So adding a little brightness and restricting dynamics for the older material, and just deal as best as possible with today’s hypercompressed and clipped garbage. Pour a little transparancy and warm bass over it and you’re there (we’re not there…yet) To prevent us from moving away too much from that ‘neutral’ sound we compare the 160kbps MP3 stream to 160kbps mp3’s created from the source files.
BBP is just a little too much in that aspect. Suggestions are welcome! ๐
Cleveland brightens things up then I find a little bass added is it.
Cleveland creates a little too much coloring for us, thank you for the tip. With BBP we used ‘Oldies’, but with BAL that actually does sound different due to the lack of clippers I guess (less transparant). Right now, we’re fiddling with ‘Zenith’.
@Jesse; we need a declipper!
radio oude stijlMemberSure:
– 82.146.61.187:8000 for the AAC+V2 in 40kbps
– 82.146.61.187:8010 for the MP3 160kbpsBoth streams are still in a testphase.
Just listen carefully to for example the ‘ss-es’ and you’ll know what i mean -
