I am wondering if there is any way to control the attack and release in the current Breakaway LIVE aside from using the "Speed" dial? I have taken a look at a couple files that come with Breakaway LIVE and it seems a series of numbers control the product. Let me say that I’m not a computer whiz but I know this is undoubtedly some type of "code" and wonder if there was a sequence of numbers or "code" that would allow for this?
Finally, will the future version of Breakaway LIVE allow for individual adjustments?

It actually *is* planned to have separate attack and release meta controls, for some versions.September 9, 2011 at 11:11 am #12559radio oude stijlMemberWe always used BBP but have lately started using BAL for the webstreams. The absence of clippers does make the sound on the stream ‘sweeter’ which is good.
But at the same time I do miss the 15uS pre-emphasis which made it just a little bit easier for the encoders (AAC+V2 and MP3).I would like to see the possibility of 15 and 25uS pre-emhasis in BAL… 🙄

Is there a link where I can listen to your stream R.?
September 9, 2011 at 8:44 pm #12561radio oude stijlMemberSure:
– 82.146.61.187:8000 for the AAC+V2 in 40kbps
– 82.146.61.187:8010 for the MP3 160kbpsBoth streams are still in a testphase.
Just listen carefully to for example the ‘ss-es’ and you’ll know what i meanSeptember 10, 2011 at 4:38 am #12562Peter TateParticipantI’m a little puzzled why you would go down to LIVE from the full version. If CPU power is the reason I understand. For me it was the opposite way. I was frustrated with lowe power machines not putting the gloss on the processing that the final limiters does in Broadcast.
To my understanding a little pre-emph is spot on for the streams. The comments for me have come in saying "it’s more controlled" but still phatt! I like phatt btw.
You might want to try a few different presets. Cleveland brightens things up then I find a little bass added is it.
Regards
Pete

I like phatt btw
Hi Pete, I love phatt to, no better way to achieve that than analog processing (personal favourite: Texar Prisms with Orban 8100/RCF-2 and card0)But the sound we are (still) looking for is aimed at the highest quality within the technical limitations that we have to deal with. As neutral as possible and well controlled, smoothing up the difference between songs from the 60ties all the way up to today. So adding a little brightness and restricting dynamics for the older material, and just deal as best as possible with today’s hypercompressed and clipped garbage. Pour a little transparancy and warm bass over it and you’re there (we’re not there…yet) To prevent us from moving away too much from that ‘neutral’ sound we compare the 160kbps MP3 stream to 160kbps mp3’s created from the source files.
BBP is just a little too much in that aspect. Suggestions are welcome! 😉
Cleveland brightens things up then I find a little bass added is it.
Cleveland creates a little too much coloring for us, thank you for the tip. With BBP we used ‘Oldies’, but with BAL that actually does sound different due to the lack of clippers I guess (less transparant). Right now, we’re fiddling with ‘Zenith’.
@Jesse; we need a declipper!

Have you tried the Classical preset? That what I use. I find it very transparent and it evens out the levels. You probably won’t win any loudness wars but there is room for some tweaking.September 10, 2011 at 12:57 pm #12565ModulatorMemberquote :….we need a declipper! While i’m not Jesse, please try Stereo Tool, it has built in declipper (which is used in Omnia 9 😉), though the output resolution is only 16bit, you can use Hard Limit to flatten any very high peaks caused by declipper, sounds still a lot better!

I’m listening right now to your MP3 stream, how do you get your mid-bass section that great?
I’m also use the oldies preset, but it sounds not that great in the 125hz – 500hz section.– 174.37.194.139:8425 in MP3 192kbps Source are 48Khz WAV files.
Thx 🙂

May i answer?
Because "Zenith" 🙂 Zenith is very and VERY open preset. Jesse once explained that. That is the only preset (in current ba products) where you’ll have mids like that, open. Not only mids, lows are also tweaked to max with minimum ‘pumping’ and in same time sounds like original just bit more warmer.October 2, 2011 at 7:29 pm #12568wouterMember

I’m listening right now to your MP3 stream, how do you get your mid-bass section that great?
radio oude stijl told us that he was using the oldies preset, in some earlier replies. it isn’t the zenith preset 😉

It actually is. I’ve done some tweaking and fiddling and went back to my ‘old’ preset which IS Zenith. With BBP we used Oldies.
However I’ve added an extra ingredient, Stereotool 6.20 is added as a plug-in, with only the de-clipper active…It does tend to make the soud a bit too nervous with some songs though, still playing with it
October 2, 2011 at 8:00 pm #12570BokiMemberI carerfully listened (for 20 sec 🙂 ) and this is Zenith 😉 Final Drive maybe bit down and bass added bit more.
edit: ow he confirmed 🙂
@ radio. it’s not mistake to have DeClipepr from StereoTool at all!!. Default settings should be good. BBP loads plugins before AGC, so ideal place for DeClipper.
Maybe "vail" to 93% 😉October 2, 2011 at 11:48 pm #12571bennylein1985MemberLike this. ??
