Hmmmm…. methinks my words have come back to bite me!
Still, with all the discussion over ways to modify an already great processor, it seems odd that the "powers that be" are strangely quiet about this particular issue. If it’s a "look in the mirror" problem, you’d think someone would have figured it out by now.
As for patience… This started 3 months ago, and nobody’s indicated they’re making any progress on it. I’d think that having it fall apart every couple of days might kind of be a priority.
RodeoJackMemberUmmm… is there a reason why this issue hasn’t been fixed? Why is it that some of these problems don’t get a response from the experts involved?
It’s one thing to be constantly bugging for enhanced presets. It seems to me it’s quite another when a paid-for program exhibits a clear problem and nobody’s responding.
RodeoJackMemberI have the problem, too.
Dell Optiplex 760
Intel Core 2 E8400, 3gHz, 3 gig ram
32 bit Win7
Juli@ cardBBP ASIO 0.90.95
In Phase Linear mode, I get 2 to 3 days before the audio clicks, spits or burps… it’s pretty random, but obviously wrong. CPU load goes over 88% at its worst
For me, the fix is as easy as hitting the IO Config tab, "yes", & "finish". The processor returns to normal & CPU load drops to 15 – 20%.
RodeoJackMemberElsewhere in this site, you’ll find comments regarding dedicated boxes. Windows embedded and solid-state hard drives are discussed there.
On the other end of the scale, I’ve had a couple of BBP installs up & running on common Dell computers for over a year… Win7, 24/7, Juli@ cards, no problems.
RodeoJackMemberWell, consider the source.
Someone comes in here, and on only his second post, knows more than everyone else.
The comments about CD processing are certainly valid, as would be any commentary about the differences between getting music from his pristine studios to a home stereo or the interior of a car.
Methinks there’s more to this guys story.
RodeoJackMemberWell said. 😀
RodeoJackMemberDon’t get too worked up over this, Jesse. The idea that any product, much less one like Breakaway, should come with docs, upgrades AND customer support for the kind of money Leif’s charging is what’s "unbelievable".
Example: There are two ‘point of sale’ software packages that generally meet the needs of my theatre. The first one I tried was a buy-out at something like $700. Within 6 months, I had problems with functions the software wasn’t doing well. Unfortunately, the only member of the ‘customer service team’ was the owner, and he rarely returned his phone calls.
I soon moved to another product. This one comes with a yearly license fee. Don’t pay the fee and the software stops selling tickets and snacks. On the other hand, the higher cost pays for 24/7 support, all upgrades (downloaded off the ‘net), and quite a few features that they wrote into the package to suit the needs of a drive-in theatre (which is what I run). I am MUCH happier with this package, even though I pay nearly 2,000 per year to keep it going.
I suspect most of us who have licensed the Breakaway products are well aware of the value we got for the money, especially those of us who have purchased and worked with any other high-end processing.
RodeoJackMemberWell, I don’t know, Jesse. We’ve been going up and down in band counts since the Langevin Pro-Gar (was there something earlier?).
But… now that we have a processor with a 31 band limiter, not to mention multiple AGC, final and clipper sections, it’s only logical that a 64 bander should be right around the corner, eh? That’ll probably be introduced "at a classical station near you"!
RodeoJackMemberquote="timmywa"]You might find them in C:Users*userfolder*AppDataLocalVirtualStoreProgram Files (x86)[/quote]
That did it! Very strange that it wouldn’t show up in a search.
Thanks for all the effort. Appreciated much!

RodeoJackMemberWell… I did notice I was running an earlier version… so I upgraded this morning. Still no .ini file, but a couple of new presets in the list.
I went into the folders section & opened everything that made some sense… extensions, hidden, system folders, etc.
Here’s what my Breakaway folder looks like in the program files section:
In my XP installs, the .ini file shows up in this folder… but not in my Windows 7 compuers.
RodeoJackMemberThanks, Jesse.
I would… if I could find it.
The .ini files are in my XP machines, but nowhere to be found in my Windows 7 installs.
Something I’m still missing? How can Breakaway remember where it was without the .ini?
(confused) ❓
RodeoJackMemberHello? (echo… echo…)
RodeoJackMemberWow… hard to know what to think about some of the posters here. I assume those who can’t get enough new presets, features, skins, sounds, bass (lots more bass), more treble, less treble and squarewaves clipped flat, but sounding silky smooth have never purchased a major manufacturer’s hardware processor for broadcast use. Sure, those boxes might have more control over detail, but few come close to what the BBP products sound like.
Given the insanely (thanks to Jesse) low price for the software, it’s well worth the money just to evaluate whether it fits your needs. If not, fine. Chances are though, you can find a way to nudge one version or another into giving you the sound you want.
Frankly, I’ve made a couple of radio stations (one an AM) and a 3-screen drive-in theatre sound really incredible with BBP. If Leif comes up with a new product that tops this, even if it is more appropriately priced, I’m hoping to be near the front of the line to buy it.
Meanwhile, thanks to Leif and those who are closely supporting him and his efforts (this site, his marketing, etc). I wish I had found you guys before spending major bucks for the boxes I now have sitting around (well, one is running a web stream)… but I guess it gave me an easy way to a/b this stuff! 😕
RodeoJackMemberYou’re right about the price. If you don’t have a card, the ASI models are a spendy choice. They are bulletproof, though. I’m running a 3-screen drive-in theatre on 4 of the cards and a 4-instance Simian install, as well as taking care of a local station that has a few of the cards, too.
Don’t know much about Nexgen, though an area FM just changed formats & put one of those systems in… seems to work well, as far as I can tell as a listener.
RodeoJackMemberHmmmmm… Guess I’ll have to see what I’m missing. I set up 4 computers with M-Audios… modded all of ’em. Gonna be a real heartbreak if I wind up putting those cards on the shelf after all that cutting & soldering! 😥
