Got a target date on the new box? Might could get some last quarter sales for stations looking to buy gear before end of year…

IIRC,the high end on the 8500 was something i did not care for.Sizzle or distortion?? Just too bright for me.That box found a home in the Netherlands…

Wouldn’t work for composite unless it does 192.But if you use LR in BBP with an external SG it should be fine. What series cards are you using? I run Nexgen and we’re on the 6000 series. If your card does 192,it should work fine..i believe some of the 5000 series did 192 sample.

Jesse, you may want to put the worms back in the can;-)..Leif had high praise for the modded m-192..Of course there is a large price difference between it and the Lynxtwo. So we’re back to the Marian Trace Alpha as the best buy in a DC straight card unless further discovery is made.

Thanks Jessie.Maybe leif might want to show the Lynxtwo card is straight DC on his list of tested cards.Even though it’s more expensive that the Trace Alpha, some stations may already have this card in their arsenal.Case in point,i know someone that modded a M-audio when they had extra LynxTwo cards.Could have saved that expense .

    @ Rodeojack.
It was always a work in progress on the BW processors. If you ran them hard the clippers got too happy. One thing that irked me was if you had the processor at the xmtr and had a power blurp ,the processor would power up but not the processing mode,U had to go to the site and do a complete reboot. As you know the UK loves 240ac over there .The boxes lacked the clarity that the Omnia boxes have.I owned the 6exi and the orban 8500 and did beta on the omnia 3.Overall i would give the BW boxes a C grade. But they were great at BW on service .I remember the first dsp-x.I could not believe how horrible the presets were.I agree that their xmtrs and exciters are excellent. That little one watt is a beast.

ps FWIW,the newer box like the mini FM and AM SE were very nice.I believe that was when goran tomas was on board.he’s pretty sharp.

Rodeojack, I have placed the xtra and DSP_X in a couple of markets still running them. They sound good and very competitive. One of BW’s problems was a channel of distribution which may be an issue for Breakaway here in the USA.Having a seller like BSW or Broadcasters General Store or SCMS can help move your product.Omnia and Orban do very well with the resellers.I use Breakaway on air, too.Been a fan forever.Leif and i have exchanged emails for a long time. These guys know their processing and have an amazing product.Looking forward to the new box,it will be a killer.(8600 & O11 watch out)

For the bucks, the 286A is superb. The Urei LA4 is a classic .i’ve used a bunch of different mic processors including the Aircorp 500 ph,Symetrix 528 and 628,.My favorite now is the Vorsis M1.Aphex 230 is ok,but has a weak power supply that really runs hot and has been a issue.Like audio processing, everyone has favs for mic processing as you can see.If you tune that 286A right, you will love it.I know a station running it with an AT2020 mic(99.00).Awesome sounding mic chain and cheap…

May have some issues.Getting that thing verified or type accepted by the FCC could be a major hurdle in the U>S>. and expensive…..
