I am wondering one thing, does anyone know about Asus Xonar soundcards? A hardware reseller is recommending it to me, but I did not think of Asus up to now…

Your opinion?

Audio
Works great.
But not (at my tests) at ASIO mode.

Stavros, it’s really heeeeavy extreme….
Too much compression, no headroom and peaks @ -2db…

And the name of this software that you can adjust the output level ??? 😯

Nice also the selection of bandwidth but, for 128K mp3 with LAME there is a "wall"
at 17500Hz. I’ve change the configuration file of edcast to have 19000Hz at 128K
but the results are not so good.
Tracks with freq. close to 19-20Khz sounds better if you lock the encoder bandwith
at 16000Hz.
That was also Leif’s suggestion and has absolutely right.

Disable everything, be sure that everything (Compressor,Expander,Limiter) are not Enabled and
to be 100% sure, click at "Bypass all" button also.
Pure BBP sound on SOS!

Still want a way to have AAC streams 2db lower than the others….

SOS4 supports AAC+ v1 & V2.
http://support.spacialaudio.com/wiki/SOS_Changelog
Simplecast…not yet.

Running SOS4 on my server at demo mode last 2 weeks seems to be very stable.
I use it to create one wma stream@128,one mp3@128 and 2 AAC’ streams @28 & 40kbps
all of them from the same source….winamp 😉

The only problem, as we know, AAC need to be -2db from the other streams but there
is no way to adjust via SOS4 😥
Thanks, and I’m quite serious. Someone take my money and let me buy Leifcast!!!

I need an alternative to Edcast.
Hi Sgeirk,

to be honest, I use Edcast (winamp plugin at BBP) without any problem.
But, I have one issue at the standalone version when I select to close (shutdown) Edcast.

Did you try SOS4 (Spacialaudio)?
Testing SOS4 last week seems to be very stable (the latest version fix couple of problems)
and supports LAME and AAC+ v1/v2.

***Edit***
As the thread name is "2010 Wishlist", I wish….I wish
RTA analyzer do not change to red so easy at 0db.
I believe at +0.2db – +0.4db will be great. 😉

hmmm, I have a different problem with SOS4 (same company as SAM..Spacialaudio).
Sam,Sos and Simplecast use almost the same encoders (SOS4 with AAC+ also)

BBP 0.90.93 installed, all softwares can use pipelines but for a strange reason
can’t feed SOS input from pipelines.
I can’t select pipelines for SOS input as at the list there is only my audiocard (Emu0404).

SOS4 has also "Audio Output" selection.
There, I can select the pipelines… 😕

HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!

Compare to the "resolution" and detail of the audio at http://www.rawfm.com.au/ — I think you’ll hear what I mean 🙂.

Leif,

RawFM BBP has exactly the same problem with the clicks-cracks as I have !!!

Adjust on Enhancer:

All Targets:100%
All Gains:18db
Max Atten: close to 5db
All Attack: close to 20

Then, set all Release very low!! 😉

Nice to hear that it works!!
To be honest, I didn’t have the time to test the above configuration this time.

I use this card 6 years now and I think that is one of the best cards that I hear all these years
with great options from the patchmix to route the sound.
The most funny is to route and use Asio channels/strips on Emu

Sgeirk you can have great sound and also digital in/out with Xonar.
It’s not a PRO audiocard but from my tests works great with BBP.
Maybe…little bit better and more stable from Emu together with BBP.
NOT suggested for ASIO use of BBP.

Regarding dedicated PC’s for BBP use:
