I’m having issues here with an EMU 0404 card, I’m actually trying to setup a machine to run BBP on one of our translators, using an EMU 0404 card.
Here’s my setup: stereo input lines (l/r) +4dbu>
emu0404 (patch mix software)>
breakaway input set to take the EMU as WAV input 44.1khz>
breakaway output set to EMU as WAV output @ 192khz 2 channel>
mpx output from one of the two channels of the emu card to the exciter.I’d think this would be simple. But that card is difficult to figure out!!!
I tried using the winamp line in feature to get audio to breakaway…I could get audio IN to winamp…but not out into breakwaway. Thanks for any help!

Once these are installed, in patchmix, simply click the little new session button near the top, go to the 192khz tab with the product default selected and click ok, this will now be outputting in 192khz mode. The recording inputs will also be locked at 192khz so you may need to select 192 for the input in BBP but I do know there are issues around the routing of this card which make it very difficult to use it as both the line input and the mpx output card. I have never managed it myself. It may be necessary to use a different card for the line input.

December 10, 2009 at 6:27 pm #9158sgeirkMemberYeah, I thought about using an 0202 I have lying around as input and the 0404 as output…or vice versa. Damn!
I have the latest patch mix software…it’s just confusing as hell…I end up with the input and output mixing together.
If breakaway’s pipelines would show up somehow in the patch mix software…it could work.
December 10, 2009 at 11:19 pm #9159GeorgeMemberHi Sgeirk,
First check that your card are locked to 192K internal.
If not, click the button with the small circle "Session Settings" and select 192K Internal.
If the 192K is not in the list, create a new session and select "product default" from 192K tab.Try the following:
-Mute all the faders on the patchmix except "PCI Card in R & L". Be sure for PAN -90 at L input and +90 at R channels at the strips.
-At the "MAIN INSERTS" add (right click at the first one) an "Insert Send (Output to ASIO/WAVE of Physical Out)".
Select "HOST WAVE L/R"-At the "Wave 1/2" strip, right click at the first empty box of the "INSERTS" and add an "Insert Send (Output to ASIO/WAVE of Physical Out)" again.
Select "PCI Card Out L/R"On BBP Select both Emu @ 192Khz for In/Out.
Now the sound comes from Analog In of Emu and via the BBP goes to the Emu analog out.
If you want to send the same signal at digital out also, add under the pci card out L/R a new insert with "PCI Card S/PDIF L/R"….I think that this should be work.

GeorgeDecember 11, 2009 at 2:28 am #9160sgeirkMemberI will give that a shot tomorrow. So I take it you are or have run an emu 0404 using line inputs and a line output to feed a transmitter?
Thank you.
December 11, 2009 at 12:21 pm #9161LeifKeymasterI have, feeding mpx straight to the exciter, and George’s instructions sound spot on.

December 11, 2009 at 3:10 pm #9162sgeirkMemberGeorge, I can’t thank you enough. It worked spot on. All the best!!!
December 11, 2009 at 7:46 pm #9163BokiMemberis there patchmix ultility for e-mu0202 .. or it’s only for 0404 ?
December 11, 2009 at 9:12 pm #9164yorkie98Participantlatest drivers for 0202 are here:
http://www.emu.com/support/files/downlo … Platform=1
Don’t know if it includes a patchmix utility though as an 0202 has much less features than an 0404.December 11, 2009 at 9:54 pm #9165sgeirkMemberFor building a dedicated processing box, I prefer using the 0404, but my next card purchase will definitely be the Marian Trace card. $250 USD?!? Throw it in a $600 machine, purchase Breakaway and you’ve stepped into world class processing for just a hair over a grand. What a wonderful world.
December 12, 2009 at 1:00 am #9166GeorgeMemberNice to hear that it works!!
To be honest, I didn’t have the time to test the above configuration this time.I use this card 6 years now and I think that is one of the best cards that I hear all these years
with great options from the patchmix to route the sound.
The most funny is to route and use Asio channels/strips on EmuSgeirk you can have great sound and also digital in/out with Xonar.
It’s not a PRO audiocard but from my tests works great with BBP.
Maybe…little bit better and more stable from Emu together with BBP.
NOT suggested for ASIO use of BBP.Regarding dedicated PC’s for BBP use:

GeorgeMarch 11, 2012 at 8:45 am #9167viberamaMemberI hate to bring up a very old thread but has anyone had any success with get the EMU 0404 working the ASIO drivers? And what exactly is that configuration?
For the life of me I can’t get it to work and I’ve tried just about everything suggested here.
I have no problem getting the regular Breakaway Broadcast to work but the delay is too much for the on-air talent. I’d like to reduce that delay with the ASIO drivers but whatever I try I can’t get an MPX output.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
March 12, 2012 at 10:20 pm #9168GeorgeMemberCan you try this? : viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2145&p=11221&hilit=0404#p11221
Don’t forget sample rates both for EMU and BBP

GeorgeMarch 13, 2012 at 8:05 pm #9169viberamaMemberNope those instructions do not work. I do not even have those options to chose from.
