I think it's actually been four years. But in it's current state, Breakaway is an incredible piece of software for it's price. Yes, there's been huge strides in the science of audio processing and incredible features like Undo and Chameleon/Solar Plexus have been released and are fantastic. But who's to say that any of that will make it into the "new Breakaway"? If so, they'll certainly be for a premium price. If they are included, why would anyone spend the $1500 on Omnia 9/xe? So there are some interesting issues going on in the House of Claesson… I'm still feeling confident that there will be something new soon and it will blow us all away.
timmywaParticipantDaan,
I think there's also some requirement that some support files need to be installed in the same directory as Breakaway. I couldn't tell you which, but for even edcast to launch in breakaway, I had to have bass.dll and some other files that I can't recall in the same folder. Sorry that's not super helpful, but it may steer you in the right direction.

Hello everyone, This is my first post. Today I installed the trial of the breakaway audio processor and was surprised that I cant select a sound card for a input I can only use a pipeline to get audio from programs? The processor sounds great but I wanted to run a console feed into it? My question is how can I run a sound card as a input and what version of breakaway do I need to run a live feed in?
[/quote]Waleed,
Try the different selectors between KS, WAV, DS, etc and see if you don't get things to show up. (KS is most recommended)
timmywaParticipantI'm enjoying this on Breakaway Live:
Rustonium
Final Drive -2.0db
Range: 50
Power: 100
Speed: 50
Bass Boost: 0
Bass Shape: 0
No effects, No Challenger
No HPF, No LPF, Phase Linear
Noise ReductionVery present sound, not too fatiguing. Playing Country music: http://americascountry.us Listen either 128 Mp3 or 48 AAC+.
timmywaParticipantChallenger is not a plugin. It's in the normal settings page. Along with HPF/LPF filter type and such. There should be a button roughly in the middle for that feature. Unless you have a really early version that didn't include it, it should be there.
timmywaParticipantI don't know many plugins. Leif had some posted here.. Things like auto-balance, phase rotator, attenuator, etc.. but since stereo enhancer is built-in, called Challenger, I wouldn't imagine an external one being much use. You may have to search around the forums to find links to those plugins.
timmywaParticipantGo to the I/O settings and be sure you have Effects enabled. Then click out of that screen and go to the normal settings screen. you should see effects there, click Edit and you'll be taken to the interface to enable/disable any dsp plugins. You enable them, then browse and click ok. Then click re-load to turn them on. Click Config if the plug has a config page.
timmywaParticipantYup,
That's how you get folks to do nice things for you… Smart cookie here.
timmywaParticipantJust from what was said, it needs to be cleared up that compressed, as in MP3 vs WAV, is not at all the same as compressed, as in Volume or Dynamics. MP3 is a file compression, where it makes the files smaller by removing "unneeded" data. Volume/Dynamics compression is taking loud and quiet audio and making it roughly the same levels. So running an MP3 through Breakaway will have nothing to do with it's file size or lossy quality. Yes an uncompressed or lossless file will ultimately do better through breakaway, but breakaway won't necessarily make things sound worse on an MP3. It's a whole different subject for saying audio processing can bring out audio artifacts in lossy compressed audio files… I hope I cleared this up.
timmywaParticipantOr, even more efficient:
In1: Pipeline 1
Out1: Realtek HD
In2: Pipeline 1
Out2: HDA SPDIFThat way you're not re-hopping your audio around.
timmywaParticipantShadow,
The basic idea is to point your application to one of the breakaway pipelines. So, instead of the audio settings in the game pointing to Realtek Audio, point it to Breakaway Pipeline 1. Then Breakaway outputs to Realtek. That's super-basic, but it gives you the idea of how it works.
Or, you could go into your sound settings in control panel and set breakaway pipeline as your default output/input and any program that is pointing to default will feed audio to Breakaway. The problem there is any and all programs will feed through Breakaway, instead of those you specify, in the first paragraph.
Good luck!

I tried to test the latest version of VAC, 4.13, I think. I found the jitter measurements shown in the test within Breakaway were MUCH higher than with the included Pipeline version. I had to bump the buffer size and numbers way up (highest) to get it around 10%. While, with the built-in, I was at 882 x 4 and had 0% jitter. I wonder what your buffer settings in Breakaway were to find good jitter measurements.
timmywaParticipant"next year" is a lot like "tomorrow"…
timmywaParticipantIf you right-click on the icon in the task tray (near the clock), and hit About, it should take you to a registration page. I don't know, because I've never had 2 licenses, so I don't know how that would work. But see if you need to enter the new key into that area.
