timmywaParticipant
Would it also feature HPF and LPF functionality?
timmywaParticipantI think Leif would take issue with using the $30 product in place of one he sells for 10 times that! At least he did when I suggested the same!
timmywaParticipantLeif, will this update also include a fix for Live’s interface freezing bug? Or has there been any progress on that?
Thanks!
timmywaParticipantGit ‘r done!
timmywaParticipantJust demoing Live .79 on my p4 3ghz ht system running xp pro with 3gb ram. Creative audigy 2zs pci. When I’m just listening and tweaking with the controls, at some random intervals the meters and scope freeze and I can’t adjust controls for a few seconds. The audio continues and is being processed just fine, the interface just freezes. I’ve not had any previous BA installs, other than RTA.
I watch the cpu util % and it seems to stay normal during this pause. Is this a function of the demo limitation? What can I look at?
Thanks.
timmywaParticipantThe company I work for is now buying Dell Servers that boot entirely from SD Card. That is incredible! They provide the OS already "burned" on the SD Card and BIOS boots from that! Forget the speed increase (that’s clear!) but look at the big drops in wear & tear and energy use! I would assume that would give plenty of room for the OS and a pretty decent amount of windows updates.
Anyone work with this kind of hardware? I’m waiting for us to get our first ones in to go check it out.
timmywaParticipantSo does this run off of Breakaway? If so I’m a huge idiot! This is my work pc, nothing but winamp installed.
timmywaParticipantI had no audio playing on my system and the two top meters were running back and forth, like there was. None of the blocks were filling in. Just a black screen. Below is a cap with audio playing, the top two bars do not match/sync with what’s playing. I’ve tried KS, Wave, DirectSound. Winamp was playing in 24-bit and non-24-bit.
timmywaParticipantGood Idea! I second that!
timmywaParticipantThanks, Aubadge!
I appreciate your input.
timmywaParticipantJust wondering how slim someone can run XP? what services can I disable? What non-essential programs or whatever can I eliminate without compromising stability?
timmywaParticipantThanks, Conor for the info. I’ve heard that you can even run XP without explorer.exe. I can’t imagine how you would be able to navigate/start/stop programs without that interface.
I’ve gotten myself into trouble by disabling too many services. I really am not fluent in any Linux OSs so that’s not really an option. I also think that Breakaway won’t run on it.
I would like to hear from the seasoned vets here on how to trim the fat on a fresh windows xp install. The only other item I would be running is free AVG for anti-virus. Yes, I need to have networking on this system as I would be streaming from this system.
Thanks again.
timmywaParticipantYeah, i scowered the manuals and online forums. I think they may have mis-matched the processor with the motherboard… Who knows. So in setting up a dedicated winxp box for strictly BAL Zara Edcast & shoutcast… what extra services and startup programs can I set to disabled or manual and not compromise system stability? I turn off indexing, i turn off zeroconfig as there’s no wireless. there are a few others I set manual or disable entirely like desktop themes, etc…
I guess my main question is how slim can I get XP to run??
Thanks again!
timmywaParticipantCool input, folks! Thanks. I did end up putting xp sp3 on it. Now to figure out why the CPU-id reported 2.4ghz Processor is only running at 1.79ghz….. Fun Fun!
timmywaParticipant
Then again, Plutonium is a good sounding preset. I suppose there is merit to including it in BAE. Alright guys, you win!
Excellent! So… the obligatory follow-up…. When?
Thanks, btw. You’re product and personability is 2nd to none!
