Thank you Milky.

Peter TateParticipantHi Guys,
I’d like to offer the suggestion that advancing the current version of Breakaway One is totally locked to the End Of Life for the Current Omnia product that contains Lief’s code. It doesn’t take too much thinking to work out that Omnia wouldn’t be to happy loosing sales to a PC based product. Not withstanding the fact they offer similar too. Which is NOT lief’s code (i beleieve).
That said…. yes there are some things needing a fix in the current Breakaway One.
I upgraded from a duel instance of the old one. One instance did Streams and the other fed an AM txer. There were phase inverting functions in & out of the second instance. These were handy. But the thing that is missing in the Basic and Full AM cores in the new version is a Final Limiter. Since moving to the new one i get an overload problem when the content is largely talk and mono. Chasing this problem down it beoamce very clear there is no final limiter after the Multi band stage. Could this come back please?
I too would like a manual or some decent explaination of the functions. My current concern is Phase Rotation. What is it really meant to do? In AM transmissions positve peaks can be greater and voice isn’t always symetrical. Where I can i make sure the source files observe this.
On the point of more advanced versions being out there on dark sites. Yep might be time to get more trustworthy Alpha or Beta testers.
I’ve seen 3.19.52 and I wouldn’t pay the extra. I agree Breakaway is not meant for expert users. Leave the ability to royally screw things up to that other camp (stereo something). From what I can see Lief seems to be on the side of sound first. That other camp I feel he is a coder first and some one suggests they get. You need to have some one that knows where the line is…. Lief is possibly that person.. Hence why we don’t see new versions every 5 days…. There’s no need. Cheers All
Peter TateParticipantThank you I will check that out. I too thought blaming the “third party” was not right. To be clear even the one they recommend doesn’t show up. Thanks again. Cheers
September 23, 2019 at 11:23 pm in reply to: it’s possible "breakaway one "that will start when start computer? #15298Peter TateParticipantWindows Key + r to get the run command up. Then type in – shell:common startup – and then hit enter this will open the startup folder for everyone on windows 10…. Drop a copy of the desktop icon in there…. Set the properties of the icon to run minimsed if you dont want breakaway to open up.
I also create a shortcut on my desktop to get back to this folder quickly. This assumes you have already set the pc up for auto login too.
It might not be the right way — but it works here!
cheers all
Peter TateParticipantWaves – direct rip from a CD – album version (as long as it's not completely different to the radio version) – compilation albums tend to run processing to make them all sound the same on the album – waves played to air in your automation system – storage is cheap today there is no need to data compress.
Peter TateParticipantThanks heaps for the explanation Jesse. Very informative and appreciated. Yes, I can see there would be people that would take benefit of what leeway the system has and run a mile with it! Thanks again! That's all I wanted to know… The cone of silence approach was getting old (like me). 😉
I use Twente as a base preset and pretty much start dialing most settings back from there. I look for a more "believable sound" one that is nicely leveled and survives (what I call) the clock radio test. The Clock Radio Test refers to spectral pumping of the mids where advertisers have the message "they pay you for". It's no good when the vocals of a song or the words of an advert get swamped by heaps of bass or other bands. The Believable Sound refers to how it sounds compared to what you put in.
Today's music is arguably already smashed…. Today's smart boxes need to know when to just "sit back"… does breakaway one do this?
cheers buddy
Thanks againPeter TateParticipantHi Jesse….. Nothing major…. I simply turned off bass enhance (I Think). It was a fair time ago.
Can you give me the final word please on being able to stay on the older? That's truly what I'm after. Thanks buddy.
Peter TateParticipantThanks teletronix-telecom….. I found what it was…..
Peter TateParticipantI can't be the only person not happy with the new Breakaway One? Every person I know that likes it has this overly loud and muddy sound. No thanks!
Found my AGC problem. Only one left to solve now is this licensing thing. What gives please?
Peter TateParticipantAm I missing something? This can't be the right way to treat a paid up customer!
Peter TateParticipantI'd have to say ST vs Breakaway has to come back to personal choice. Breakaway has a lot less buttons and knobs to screw things up royally. ST has gone a bit to far for me, it's very fatiguing. Then you need to think about the environment you are deploying these software processors in. If you run LIVE talent the game is over with both of them…. ST being the one with the longest latency. Yes I know you can get the latency down in Breakaway by using the lite version. But it's not quite there either. I've sung the praises of Breakaway for many a year and yes I'm a legit customer. But the day I wanted to go live on my internet stations that's it this discussion is a mute point. Both would be tossed out.
Peter TateParticipantIt's VERY hard to get clean anything with mp3's as source files Matt. Just trust your ears and be VERY fussy on what you put to air. Agressive processing is actually fatiguing! That's not good for long term listening!
Peter TateParticipantDon't touch it! Close the lid! Walk away! Do it now!!!!!! It's perfect as it is. Well done!
Peter TateParticipantJust thought I’d ask. Not being a forum hound I figured it might have been an obvious question rather than a weird one.
Would be nice to see an upgrade for BBP etc. One can hope! 😉
Peter TateParticipantDear Ethan,
I had a massive amount of hair lost over Windows 7 64bit. To this day I’m not sure which fixed it or if it was a combination of both.
What worked for me was to untick the box that says "priority" in BBP (I’m not sure of the real name as of typing). But I was also stuffing around trying to turn off all the speed stepping in the bios too. It’s listed on windows forums as a possible fault to audio applications. This is brought on by the new video cards (that are really a small pc themselves) and the changing buss speeds between them and the motherboard CPU.
You might think what has this got to do with audio? The thing is it messes with the CPU’s clock speed and "IF" the audio software isn’t upto speed it doesn’t know how to handle the changes and glitches.
I run fully automated internet radio stations that are "all in one box" it was very frustrating.
