Hi All,
Wondering if anyone has a similar issue and or knows a fix.
I have Breakaway Broadcast Processor ASIO.
Audio comes out my Automation Software out SPDIF Out on the Audiophile. Straight back into SPDIF In on the Audiophile (small high quality RCA cable joining them). It then is processed by Breakaway. It then goes back out the Analog Out and off to the Transmitter.
I’m finding that I’m getting lots of weird crackles and after a few hours it gets so bad, its like full time distortion and ‘clicky/crunchy/distorting’ sounds. I fixed it once by restarting the Windows Audio Service but sometimes only a restart will fix it.
I’m using the M-Audio v5.10.0.5074 Driver.
I think the issue is related more to the Sound Card. I’ve got multiple computers with M-Audio sound cards and it seems to do this on other computers too. All running Win 7 SP1.
Anyone got any ideas on how to fix this? I was playing around with ASIO4ALL last night to see if I could maybe bypass the SPDIF Out and In process but I couldn’t get it to work.
Appreciate any feedback in advance,
Cheers,

July 2, 2012 at 6:01 am #13347ethannzMemberBreakaway Broadcast Processor ASIO doesn’t seem to have Virtual Audio Cables like BBP Live does?
July 2, 2012 at 7:06 am #13348Dj BuikMemberYou are right, my bad, BBP ASIO does not use Virtual cables.
It sounds like that something is running out of sync.
Are you using the MPX out (192 KHz) from BBP, or are you using only the ‘normal’ audio output?
Post your BBP setup screen, so we can see your settings.

Much appreciate your help in advance!
I’m using FM Out vs. MPX.
July 2, 2012 at 11:51 am #13350Peter TateParticipantDear Ethan,
I had a massive amount of hair lost over Windows 7 64bit. To this day I’m not sure which fixed it or if it was a combination of both.
What worked for me was to untick the box that says "priority" in BBP (I’m not sure of the real name as of typing). But I was also stuffing around trying to turn off all the speed stepping in the bios too. It’s listed on windows forums as a possible fault to audio applications. This is brought on by the new video cards (that are really a small pc themselves) and the changing buss speeds between them and the motherboard CPU.
You might think what has this got to do with audio? The thing is it messes with the CPU’s clock speed and "IF" the audio software isn’t upto speed it doesn’t know how to handle the changes and glitches.
I run fully automated internet radio stations that are "all in one box" it was very frustrating.

Thanks very much for your comment. That is helpful to know thank you.
I’ve had a hunt and compiled of list of things which could apply to my setup I could try. I have a feeling its more tended towards Driver issues. I remember installing the very latest driver from M-Audio and on each reboot the device stopped showing up. So I uninstalled the second to newest and its remained working but with this issue.
I’ve tried unticking Breakaway as a Priority and will continue to monitor. Hopefully this will resolve the continuous random clicks.
Thing I’ll try:
– Look and disable Intel Speed Step in BIOS if exist
– Look and disable hardware acceleration in windows
– Disable CPU Throttling in the BIOSWhat sound cards are other BBP ASIO users (any M-Audio? What drivers and OS?)
July 2, 2012 at 9:41 pm #13352MilkyKeymasterI have used an M-Audio 192 card in ASIO for many years now BUT the two differences are that I am using Windows XP 32 bit, and I am using Breakaway DJ. No problems to report at all.
July 3, 2012 at 10:11 pm #13353djscoobyMemberHi ,
unfortunately i can’t help you as i have the same setup and exactly the same problem..
i my case the problem appeared a month or 2 ago i really cant remember when,
but the crazy thing is that this mashine has been running for months with this setup with no problem at all and some time it was really heavilly loaded.. !!!!so my better guess would be drivers or bios setting but unfortunately i really cant advice you more as the pc is on a remote location and its not that easy to stop it and check what is the problem exactly as it plays On air so i just installed another pci audio card on it as i havent got a lot of time or a spare pc and i used radio automation output to realtek …to….maudio line 1/2 analog…bbp asio…pll exciter
When i will have some time and a spare pc for a couple of days i will definitely check on it and give you a heads up if i find a sollution/root of cause..
in the meantime if you find anything by yourself please share if you dont mind…
PS : Keep in mind that after a couple of tests i did at least in my case, the problem is only from spdif , analog lines works fine..
i cant however test if its the input or output that does these crakles, as the pc is far far away 🙂Also in my case i havent updated any driver or windows os, for months , tried it before a week but card has still the same problem…
…i am starting 2 beleive it has something to do with card h/w maybe…OS:win 7 x64
July 21, 2012 at 12:57 pm #13354rebelMemberDo you have a I5/I7 Sandy bridge Intel processor? There are documented issues involving PCI sound cards, which may be your problem.
July 22, 2012 at 12:43 am #13355djscoobyMemberNop, i have intel quad core system, and also i monitored dsp latency tool and havent seen any lag, when i have a spare machine for broadcast i will test this card on another pc just to see if it works, i really cant think of anything else..
thanks rebel for pointing out…
July 22, 2012 at 5:43 am #13356ethannzMemberHi All,
Thanks for all the tips and comments.
I’ve tried disabling heaps of things such as the C3 thing in the Bios / Hardware CPU accelration etc on my Asus Motherboard in the bios and so far no clicks.
I’ll keep monitoring past 24 hours and see if its resolved.
Will keep in touch
Cheers!
July 26, 2012 at 11:42 am #13357djscoobyMemberEthannz if its not too mutch trouble , please update here if the problem is resolved permanently after some days..
thank you
July 26, 2012 at 7:05 pm #13358ethannzMemberHi guys,
Sorry about the delay.
Yes it has resolved all the problems. Not one glitch in four days! 🙂
Very happy. no more restarts for me. I may do it on a weekly basis anyway.
It seems to be Asus motherboards with the C1 and hardware acceleration options in the bios.
Cheers,
