MemberAwesome, you finally upgraded from… whatever that thing you had before was. 😀 Now you need some voice processing. 😉
JesseG
MemberStillwell/Schwa is great stuff. directly associated with Cockos, the people that make Reaper, and several original ex-Nullsofters. fair price, no copy protection, definitely worth supporting if you enjoy anything they are selling.
There’s also a new 165 simulation out there, just came out…
http://www.delamancha.co.uk/sixtyfive.htm
not sure if I would recommend it since I haven’t tried it, and in the paste their plugins have seemed quite bloated in the memory department… since they use SynthEdit as a framework. so, worth checking out possibly though.I’m sure there’s others, link em if you know em. 🙂
p.s. the two DBX units i would love to see accurately simulated… are the 286A and the 268A. everyone should be familiar with the 286A voice processor by now, but very very few people know what the 268A is, and I have one. 😀 It’s a two band intelligent agc/limiter with bass & treble enhancers… designed by Robert Orban. 8) Sounds dang smooth and transparent too. Now that I’m thinking of it again, it operates a little bit like Breakaway’s current AGC/WB1/2 setup… just with slower AGC and faster WB than most of the Breakaway presets use. All dynamics with OverEasy, of course.
JesseG
MemberDBX 160A is a pretty gentle compressor even without the OverEasy circuit enabled, in comparison with a brickwall limiter. Unless you modify it.
Anywho if you want a sound like what you’re describing, you might try one of the many Winamp plugins for broadband compression/limiting, or the combination of Adapt-X (winamp plugins to load DirectX plugins) and DirectiXer (turns any VST plugin into a DirectX plugin)
Optionally you could just use the VST directly within Breakaway once that feature is released in an upcoming update. That will really be ideal because then you don’t have to be concerned about headroom/clipping, and won’t have to mess with any of the aforementioned "wrapping" methods. There’s a HUUGE amount of free VST plugins for compression/limiting out there.

Member
Of course when Leif releases his long awaited (no idea if even in development yet..) IP STL program, it will blow all the others out of the market on both features and price, until then Airlink STL is perfectly useable in my experience.
It is in development, I’ve seen working source code from a bit over a year ago. It’ll eventually be available. 8)May 5, 2010 at 2:01 am in reply to: Help pls re: using Live on line in for listening on Vista #10649JesseG
MemberMilky might be right cos I remember that too and remember it being a cool new "feature" when BADJ came out.
Have you tried that demo yet?

MemberThe board itself has 4 expansion slots actually…
PCI Express x16 1
PCI Express x1 1
PCI Slots 2
Of the two PCI slots, I’m not sure if they handle 3.3v cards, or also 5v cards. I have worked with server mainboards that don’t handle 5v PCI cards, so this originally not being a mainboard designed for server use is a good sign, believe it or not. 🙂Nice price too. 😉

Member
My gut feeling though is I won’t find an inperceptible video/audio latency with Live. As I say, I have no problem with the simpler Enhancer in that regard.
Then it should be possible with Live too, and is simply a configuration issue. Good luck in figuring it out. Perhaps look at your BAE settings in expert mode and try copying those over to live?May 4, 2010 at 6:26 am in reply to: Help pls re: using Live on line in for listening on Vista #10642JesseG
MemberThere’s two things you can try for starters… tweaking the input and output buffer size & count to get them as low as you can without any glitches (screenshot just so you know where i’m talking about, don’t pay attention to any settings on my screenshot, they won’t apply to your specific card/hardware/os/etc)

And trying a lower latency filter set than "Phase Linear", such as "Low Latency"

And making sure that the HPF (High-Pass Filter) is set to "Off". Of course "Add Delay" should be on "0 ms".
With all of those things done, you should see a much lower latency, probably no perceptible difference between video and audio.

Member
Vista’s default ‘Recording’ device is currently ‘Stereo Mix’ ‘Realtek High Definition Audio’ which I haven’t changed since installing Live.
Bingo. Try line-in, since it’s what you want to record from. 😉JesseG
Member
Wow, this is pretty impressive… though we could never get it that clean over a 128k mp3 stream.
In which way would you say the Passive Aggressor differs from Rustonium?
Are you planning a tease on some "muddy" Rock tracks?
I’m looking forward to seeing this Passive Aggressor on the next release 🙂
Audio
Actually… the source files for both the Hot 10 and AC 10 are Lame V0 VBR, and Lame v3.93.1 "aps cbr 128" gets pretty dang close (especially with -q 0) for streaming. Combined with there not being any pre-emphasis or clipping needed, then I think you could get even MORE clean over 128.JesseG

file name says all. i’ll do another one tomorrow or some such… for a more adult/lighter style. 😉
Why 130% modulation ?
This is already de-emphasized (you didn’t think i wanted it to sound that muffled, did you?). I just output from Breakaway Broadcast with the reference level at 0.0dB, and de-emphasize enabled. That way people don’t have to run it through MPX Tool to hear how it sounds. The emphasized version is perfectly peak & modulation controlled, no worries. 8)Also… I’m uploading the top 10 AC tunes run through Passive Aggressor as I type.

Ready or not ?
Or is this preset project canceled ?Still under development ?
If yes, more teasing, please !Or is the release of this preset restricted to the v1.0 release date ?
Something for my unborn grandchildren ?
As for next release, we will have to see when that comes. For now I am letting the current revision sink in, and I can think about any problems as they come, if I find any more. Leif does have the latest version, so whatever happens, no worries, eh? 8) You will probably hear this with the next updates, and I’m confident this will make it to Breakaway DJ as well. It should sound epic on a large sound system…
Sam "Buca" Michaels once told me that no broadcast audio processing is suitable for large pro-audio systems. He will have to hear this and see what he thinks.

Any help is much appreciated
MPEG2? or Layer-2?
I think you mean Layer-2.
Have you tried TooLame with Ed-Cast yet?

Memberyeah that’s a nice deal Q106, plus you don’t have to deal with international shipping, etc.
