I merged the two topics. Let’s keep this in one topic since you’re new to this sort of thing, and to help people help you better. 8)

If you already have fiber ran 1km, then you’re probably looking to setup a network of some kind. If you don’t have fiber in the ground yet, then definitely go wireless. It’s almost infinitely cheaper than running fiber, depending on what you have to run it across.

Also check to see what is in CRON, to see if any php scripts are there. But if the box was pwnt, it’s pretty easy to hide stuff from the web admin user/s. That being said, this was done with an exploit, and if that wasn’t patched, then… yeah. πŸ˜‰

There’s probably some code running somewhere in php that’s just re-"installing" this to the public pages. The first part of the battle would be to figure out what exploit script is being used via php, and find out where it does everything by default. The php script for the root access probably has a name and credits in it.

It has a built-in firewall (not microsoft) that prevents all connections except to the web server (which currently has no known exploits) and the remote control. The website only allows access by specific IPs, and the remote uses an AES-secured completely custom protocol. All of the Microsoft networking stuff that normally is the source of many remote exploits, doesn’t even exist on the OS image. Leif & LA guys (and now Omnia a bit) have been working on optimizing the XP Embedded (a special ultra-small version of Windows made for doing hardware devices) in these boxes for the better part of a decade as well.

In other words, it’s locked down pretty dang tight. πŸ˜‰ But yeah, have your IT guy call Omnia so they can address any concerns your IT guy has without having to RTFM, and probably get some info that’s not in the manual too.

Can confirm it’s NOT fixed. This isn’t hard tho. πŸ˜‰ Just re-launch your browser, and go to ceaudio.com/claessonedwards.com and the Java execution request still pops up.

you could always try removing your soundcard drivers (the actual soundcard, not Breakaway Pipeline) from the device manager, and re-scan (PnP) to re-install the soundcard drivers. sometimes that’s a quick fix.

Assuming you didn’t install this properly (or they screwed up the installer), it’s not finding "LOCAL_APPDATAdsp_edcast". So i would try and create that directory, see if that fixes it or what happens next. πŸ˜‰

Personal preference, and what the listeners and also your trusted opinions (on great reference systems with experienced ears) tell you. The same goes for any adjustments to it. You might try Rustonium, that’s a very solid and mature sound that is good on basically all content, except for maybe a classical music station. You won’t sound as good as Rustonium in an Omnia.9 (not to mention Undoβ„’ etc) but it sounds pretty good anyways. Zenith through the clipper also sounds ok, with the final drive turned up a bit if needed. πŸ™‚ For rock, you would be silly not to at least try Motor City. I recently combined Motoro City with the most insane bass sound I’ve ever created πŸ˜€ which I’ll probably be sharing with some stations first, then eventually dropping for the public to play with. (believe me, i have even more deadly weapons that wont be public hehe)

that much above 75kHz and something isn’t calibrated correctly. have you corrected for any bass tilt or high frequency rolloff from the soundcard using Breakaway (and ideally a scope) yet?

That is for loading Winamp DSP plugins… not VST plugins. Both are ".dll" files, but they are supporting completely different methods of access.

You need a Winamp plugin that loads VST plugins, there’s a few topics on this forum about it.

Only the broadcaster products like Breakaway Live offer that as a feature.

The network has a ton of Linear Acoustic stuff, especially used on live events. What might be happening is your local affiliate is doing the audio damage. Have you tried getting a copy of a *confirmed* untouched network feed to compare? 8)

The output of your player should be at 100%, if you’re talking about an all-digital audio path. Having the input too low will do what you’re experiencing and there isn’t a way around that, other than turning off the noise reduction (multiband downward expanders). You should end up with basically the same sound quality, and same loudness, but with less gating.

The inner workings are based on over half a century of innovations that are still largely missing from studio gear. The outcome is designed in part to take advantage of non-linearities of the human auditory system, aka psycho/neuro-acoustics. For instance when you turn up the bass, and it makes the treble sound more quiet even though the treble hasn’t changed at all. Balancing the average spectral response can "unmask" a huge amount of detail within the sound.

Wait till you hear Undo though, once the new versions of Breakaway come out. That’s really the missing half of the puzzle, a HUGE innovation in audio DSP. 8)

By the way… nice setup. πŸ™‚ And @ your amp question… the amp is supposed to amplify the sound with as little change or coloration or distortion as possible. Everything in a proper hifi setup should be designed to be as transparent as possible, so that incredible sounding music sounds incredible, and crappy music sounds crappy. You can’t really make crap sound good without reducing incredible to good as well… using mostly linear gear like that. Breakaway is *extremely* program dependent, using a TON of technology that is designed to prevent "bad things" from being done to already incredible recordings. For the most part. The upcoming Breakaway stuff has even more innovations in regard to that aspect.
