    A day or two ago, my audio became inaudible, as though it were muted. After a fruitless investigation of wiring, audio controls, etc., I finally discovered in the Breakaway Audio Setup Wizard, "Breakaway Pipeline 1" is displayed as the input device (no other options exist), the output audio device displayed "[No Output Device]", and nothing displays in the drop down. Under Sound video, and game controllers in my (Windows XP Pro) Device Manager:

    * Audio Codecs
    * Breakaway Pipeline
    * Legacy Audio Drivers
    * Legacy Video Capture Devices
    * Media Control Devices
    * Video Codecs

    There are no yellow alerts. In the Breakaway Pipeline Properties window –> General Tab, under Device usage: "Use this device (enable)" has been selected. Under Sound and Audio Devices Properties –> Audio tab, "Breakaway Pipeline 1" as default device for both Sound Playback, and Sound Recording.

    Is this familiar to anyone who can point me in the right direction for making things work again? Thanks in advance.

    you could always try removing your soundcard drivers (the actual soundcard, not Breakaway Pipeline) from the device manager, and re-scan (PnP) to re-install the soundcard drivers. sometimes that’s a quick fix.
