Yeah… I wouldn't recommend using Octimax or Volume Logic for streaming, period. It has phase distortions that effect lossy codecs in a negative way.
January 23, 2014 at 5:06 am in reply to: can breakaway work with real tech need help here problem ? #5528JesseGMemberBeyond the obvious, that you should make sure "Bypass" isn't enabled…
Breakaway's input should be the Breakaway Pipeline, and the output should be your Realtek Speakers output. You should also set the default communications soundcard to be the Breakaway Pipeline to make sure nothing uses the Realtek by default.
Also make sure any volume controls in the audio path before Breakaway are turned up all the way, so that Breakaway has enough signal to work properly. To control the output levels, I recommend a combination of Breakaway's Volume control, and when that's all the way up to 0dB (maximum output level), setting the Realtek Speakers level in the properties for that soundcard's playback so that it gets as loud as it can without distorting whatever's hooked up to it (or as loud as you'd ever possibly want it), and then turning it down just a little from that setting.
And of course, if the program that you want to run through Breakaway isn't going through it, make sure it's set to either use the default soundcard, or to use Breakaway Pipeline. Two ways of doing the same thing.
JesseGMemberThe version of Breakaway you're using was designed to now allow outputting to a virtual audio cable so that it wouldn't be used for streaming. That's what the Breakaway Live product is for, so since you're on a trial already, I suggest you try Breakaway Live to see if that has the features you want. 🙂
JesseGMemberThose settings seem to work decently for all of the different Reference presets. My recommendation was supposed to have been originally for the Audio Enhancer version. I use "Movies" on BAE for my system audio (when i need it unbypassed for things like youtube) because it sounds the least processed to me. Reference Settings are closest but you might like Reference Jazz as well. Reference Classical should sound a bit less processed on many things, but it's also using one less band so it won't be able to spectral balance as efficiently and may possibly sound less transparent on occasion since more frequencies will be effecting each other.
JesseGMemberPlease help us know where to start. Maybe some screenshots of your different Breakaway settings and soundcard driver settings?
JesseGMemberI can't connect to that stream. Is it still up? What is the correct URL? I tried getting the two URLs from the playlist that does download, in multiple players, and none of them connected.
JesseGMemberNew York as always used the downward expanders, hence there isn't an additional version that does.
What version of Breakaway are you using?

Now that's weird. Never heard of that before. If the problem isn't solved here, please let us know what was happening. Totally strange. 🙂JesseGMemberSomething might already be using the soundcard then…? Is it set to be the default soundcard in windows or set to be used by something else? Try making the default recording and playback card be something else and restart Windows. If that works, then you have something else on your system that's using the audio driver.
JesseGMemberSomeone did find the cause of their problem for this in the stickied topic. They had multiple and/or wrong soundcard drivers installed for their on-board sound, and they simply removed the offending driver, from what I understand. You can try checking out what soundcard drivers you have installed, try updating those etc. It's also worth trying a different method to access the soundcard, but I can see why you'd want to stick with KS (Kernel Streaming) since the latency is much much lower than the other methods of accessing soundcard drivers.
JesseGMemberThis is a question for Keith in sales 🙂

A while back I installed Breakaway 1.3 on my Windows 7 HP laptop and had the similar problems with the audio as previously posted. I had to run the wizard every time I rebooted or started my laptop up in order for the Breakaway plugin to work. If I didn't there would be terrible hissing coming from the speakers.
Could you please detail what steps you took to research and attempt to fix similar to the fix that was discovered above?December 29, 2013 at 4:34 am in reply to: Breakaway 1.30.02 with transparent toolbar for Windows Aero! #5076JesseGMember
Then comes the pain-staking work to make sure it doesn't double-process anything that's already been processed by it, while still making it have an accurate amount of dynamics based on the input. (testable by comparing the processed original with a processed copy using various levels and types of limiting/clipping before it)
