Output sound device is set to Pipeline 1 but i get unprocessed audio on the output jacks on the m-audio card.
That is normal.
When you select Pipeline 1 as output inside the Breakaway I/O configuration it is always the same unprocessed signal as on the input.➡ Don’t set output inside the Breakaway I/O configuration to Pipeline 1 !
You have to set this output to your normal device output name of your audio card.
Pipeline 1 has to be set inside the Windows system audio dialogue as default device (Sound playback called in Windows XP)➡ There is a file "Readme-BreakawayLive.txt" inside your Breakaway Live program folder.
Read this carefully.
You should have read this readme before, because it automatically pops up at the end of the Breakaway Live installation.michi95MemberBBP (Breakway Broadcast Processor) is meant for analog radio broadcasting (FM/AM …).
Breakaway Live is meant for digital broadcasting (and all kind of other things on the digital level).quote :Breakaway Live ……Professional grade audio processing for business, studio, mastering, microphones, monitoring, live use, and any form of digital broadcasting.http://ceaudio.com/index.php?option=com … Itemid=137
BBP vs. Live audio quality:
viewtopic.php?p=7508#p7508quote :is there sometihng wrong with my ears?So if you prefer the sound of BBP (on the digital level), it is a proof that either your ears or your audio sources or/and monitoring system have a wrong calibration (have a lack of high frequency response or are damaged).
So you better ask your eyes (watching the oscilloscopes output in BBP and Live) instead of your ears !Louder is not better !
You have to decide:
Are you broadcasting mainly for members of the mobile phone speaker audiophiles generation (who do not know the difference between music and noise) ?
Or do you want to create a high fidelity quality sound ?
There must remain a certain grade of dynamic range. It’s all about to find this small sweet spot of compromise between dynamic range on the one hand and consistency on the other hand.
This is the reason why so many people here are waiting so desperately for the next (beta ?) release including Jesse’s legendary Passive Aggressor preset !michi95MemberA) I think that this guy has finally got the message.
or
B) Leif has defeated him once for all !And I don’t believe that any "reputable" cracking team will continue the "work" he failed to do.
If they want there would already be a proof.
➡ there won’t be any attempt in the future !
I hope so.michi95Member@ Jesse (or Leif if he reads this)
Has Leif changed (or will change) his general trial policy ?
Reading this:
http://ceaudio.com/index.php?option=com … Itemid=137
it seems as if all Breakaway products have (or will have) a 30 day trial period.
Is this true (a change) ? 😕
Or is this another error on the new website ?michi95Member
Only thing I found so far is the "more testimonials" links on the main page goes to a 404 instead of the address that’s in the menu.
The same with Breakaway Live and Breakaway DJ (links only work from address in menu !).
I agree the design is fantastic.
I cannot imagine how to improve it any further.
It is close to perfection (except these broken linkings).michi95Member
some core methodology to the way he works…
….Stuff nobody will appreciate or know about directly, as usual for behind the scenes stuff, but none the less a big deal….
…but what he’s working on now will give Leif more time to code, and hopefully more time to not code.
Aha !
I understand.
No doubt, finally Leif tries to realize my advice to clone himself.
Hello Dolly !
Some kind of cheap working sheep. It could be perfect:
While one Leif codes the other Leif can sleep in his (or their) bed.
Very economic.
Why should be a bed only used 8 hours a day ?
A waste of resources !
The optimum are two cloned Leif plus the original version (24 divided by 8 = 3 !).But what happens, if the two clones have the same ideas output for new (independant) additional Breakaway software products and endless (so called) beta releases as the original Leif ?
This could lead to the problem to create more and more new clones to finish
the coding daywork for all these additional software products.
I hope this will not end in a cloning (Leif population) explosion.
Though this could be a new kind of bundle:
Buy one Breakaway Broadcast Processor licence and get your 24 hours audio software engineer (one of the thousands Leif clones) for free !michi95Member
No my dreams are full of
Sorry, I had forgotten the "w" letter !
It should be "now" and not "no" (I have corrected it).My problem:
After 8 years glorious presidency of George W. Bush I have a subconscious aversion to the letter "w" !michi95MemberOh man yes, the legendary Passive Aggressor preset.
It’s working miracles.
A few weeks ago I was dreaming about beautiful women.
Now my dreams are full of dirty (or clean ?) Passive Aggressor fantasies.
I already considering to name my first son Passive Aggressor.
Passive Aggressor Smith.
Would be such a cool name !michi95Member
you might try ….. the combination of Adapt-X (winamp plugins to load DirectX plugins) and DirectiXer (turns any VST plugin into a DirectX plugin)
1. Both are not free.
2. Both are somehow outdated.Free alternatives:
VB FFX-4 Rack (Winamp DSP, VST and DX Plugin to load DirectX plugins)
http://pagesperso-orange.fr/vb-audio/us … dxrack.htm
It is old, but not outdated.
It’s a vintage must have tool !And Acon EffectChainer (a DirectX and VST capable universal wrapper and multi-effect rack – DX and VST plugin !)
http://www.kvraudio.com/get/2497.html
http://www.acondigital.com/us_Downloads.htmlVery good (classic) limiter, compressor and other free FXs:
Kjaerhus Audio Classic Series
http://www.acoustica.com/plugins/vst-directx.htmPersonally:
I load the VB FFX-4 DSP plugin with Breakaway Live and the Acon EffectChainer (DX plugin) into it (because most of the plugins I use, are VST plugins).
Besides the rack saving/loading capability, especially the mute and solo functionality (VB FFX-4 and Acon Chainer !) is very handy.May 5, 2010 at 4:46 am in reply to: Help pls re: using Live on line in for listening on Vista #10652michi95Member
ideally I want to keep watching TV on the TV (!)
You still have the wrong (traditional) perspective.
With a HTPC it works the other way round.quote :Standard PC units are usually connected to a CRT or LCD display, while HTPCs are designed to be connected to a television. If you desperately need (Breakaway) processing a HTPC would be a better all-in-one solution.
And besides audio processing you have the opportunity to process video (FFdshow, AVISynth, etc.) plus the most flexible recording and editing system for a very small amount of money (compared to traditional separate expensive hardware boxes).
Not only the sound card/chip, but also your video card,….
Using the PC as TV receiver itself (HTPC) latency is not really a problem, because there are different ways to delay the video to sync to processed audio (using FFdshow etc.).
So the latency appears only when you zap from one channel to another.Latency is only a problem for all kind of man-machine interaction.
For example singing or playing your musical instrument through Breakaway Live processing.May 4, 2010 at 12:38 pm in reply to: Help pls re: using Live on line in for listening on Vista #10643michi95Member
I’m trying out Live and I’m trying to process some analogue stereo audio via the line-in jack. It seems to me that this discussion is full of misunderstandings.
As if everybody misunderstands everybody else to at least some degree.I have read the whole topic again and again.
But it is still not clear to me if we are talking about manual volume slider adjustment or some kind of software based fading.
There is no disadvantage for a system used for broadcasting as there’s no way you’d try to adjust your listening level by adjusting the player. //Leif
Is this an answer about the BA Pipeline Config enabled volume control ?
Or is it based on the suggested usage of Volumouse ?Please, Leif try use other words for "as there’s no way you’d try to adjust your listening level by adjusting the player".
My English is too limited to understand what you wanted to say with these words.
Maybe this topic is infected by a special "misundertanding virus" ?
😕michi95Member
Leif, you were right, as always I guess. 😮 The fading works as usual again! Thanks!! By the way is there any disadvantage using this option? ❓
Yes !
But, there is a very simple and much better solution for this "problem".
I have just stumbled over it.The problem with this tweak to enable Volume Control inside the Breakaway Pipeline Config
tool is that you are fooling Breakaway’s processing (a little bit).
When the user tries to lower the volume in this manner, Breakaway will see a quiet input signal and do it’s job and increase the level again, until it runs out of range. In fact, this very situation is the reason the volume controls are disabled by default, as conceptually, it cannot work. And, when things fail even in theory, practice doesn’t stand a chance.
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=371&p=4758#p4758
The more you decrease, the more Breakaway’s internal processing will be irritated.
But in practice if the level decreasing and increasing range for the input is very narrow, more or less +- 6 dB the impact is relative marginal. That is the reason why I have used the Volume Control tweak in Breakaway Pipeline Config, too.
But now (since Yesterday – happened by coincidence to this discussion here) I am using Volumouse.
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/volumouse.html
This is a freeware tool that can "hijack" the global control of the mouse wheel.
It is even possible to use it without pressing an additional key (change default options) !
If you need the standard control of the mouse wheel back it is quite simple:
Disable Volumouse in the tray and you can use the mouse wheel as before. It does not work with Breakaway Pipeline (not on my machine).
You have to select the device that you have selected as output inside the Breakaway I/O configuration. In my case I have selected "Realtek HD Audio output" (master volume control
inside Volumouse options).I highly recommend to tweak the "More" settings inside Volumouse options to your
individual needs.I think Volumouse is an absolute must have tool !
And finally a clean solution for this volume control "problem". 😀
