This filtering is not perfect.
I had only a few minutes at the end of the game Portugal vs. Ivory Coast. So, please tweak the settings and upload your own superior easyQ Vuvuzela preset here !

michi95MemberI have just received a PM from whispurr.
➡ Case closed !
She had inadvertently bypassed Breakaway.
@ Teresa (aka whispurr)
No problem.
That’s what friends are for.I will answer your PM in detail later (maybe tomorrow).
Now it’s time for FIFA World Cup !
Italy vs. Paraguaymichi95Member
I can’t imagine with the speed and range maxed out – regardless of preset – that you should be having this issue if BAE is processing the audio. It’s hard to believe that you have audio files that are 20 or 30 dB different from one another.
I agree.
I checked whispurr’s preset settings:
"Easy Listening, Range 100, Power 52, Speed 99, Bass Normal, Bass Shape 0"
with different audio sources (very loud and very quiet).
It should do the job.
Maybe pushing Power 52 to 100 could make the output a little bit more constant.
Though I would prefer to use Reference Heavy (cleaner sound) instead of Easy Listening (really damages the original sound characteristic with Range 100).whispurr are you sure that all files are processed by Breakaway ?
Are there any differences in In/Out oscilloscopes and meters ?michi95MemberI forgive you Jim ! 😆
Odd or not – jcr102 wants to process the signal from his external CD player ( ➡ soundcard input) !
Breakaway Pipeline should be set as input to process files playing on your computer, but not for external sources (soundcard input) !
➡ Read Readme-BreakawayLive.txt (inside your Breakaway Live program folder) !
michi95MemberHave you read Readme-BreakawayLive.txt (inside your Breakaway Live program folder) ?
quote :I can hear the CD playing on my receiverUsing an aux (or CD) input connected to your PC soundcard output ?
Why do you want to use your (external) CD player ?
This way you are degrading the audio quality, because the digital signal (saved on the CD) has to be converted into an analog signal (except you are using a professional digital connection, but I think you were talking about an analog connection, right ?).
This analog signal has to be converted into a digital signal inside the soundcard -> Breakaway processing -> and has to be converted into an analog signal again.
Every (D/A = digital/analog) conversion degrades the audio quality. It would be much easier and better to use your internal PC CD/DVD reader to play the CDs digital (without the need of additional conversions).
-> You can rip the CDs (using the free Exact Audio Copy software) to your harddisk and stop wasting your time (opening and closing the CD drive every time you want to hear music from another CD) !
A 1 TB harddisk can save approx. 1500 audio CDs (as uncompressed WAV, 1:1 copy) !michi95Member
I haven’t had this problem in the past
With the same talk radio mp3s (without volume jumps) ?
Using the same settings:
"Easy Listening, Range 100, Power 52, Speed 99, Bass Normal, Bass Shape 0" ?
On the Setup window I have:
Input – Interface = KS, Audio Device = Breakaway Pipeline 1, Buf Size = 441, Buffers = 4, Rate = 44100, Channels = 2
Output – Interface = DS, Audio = Realtek HD Audio Output, Buf Size = 480, Buffers = 4, Rate = 48000, Channels = 2
Bypass – Realtek HD Audio Output, Manage is checked
Common – Audio Realtime Priority is checked, Adaptive SRC is checked
Test – Mode: Pass through
These I/O configuration settings have no influence on the processing characteristic (for example volume) !
As long as you have no clicks or pops in your audio playback your I/O configuration is ok !I am a Breakaway Live user.
Breakaway Live has more presets than Enhancer.
I will look into the Enhancer presets to figure out what preset is the best for files with extremely different volumes.Using Range 100 (your Easys Listening settings) is for your purpose the best choice.
Do you have tried other presets with Range 100 ?
It might be that some settings (especially Range 100 and other presets than Easy Listening) do not sound good with normal music files.
So for sure, it is impossible to find one preset (plus slider settings) that fits all kind of (different) audio sources.michi95Member
How do I get it to normalize the volume between files, not just on one mp3?
Breakaway (working as post processing system driver) does not "know" where one mp3 file ends and another one starts.
So it already tries to make one file (original quiet) louder and others (orginal loud) quieter to match a relative constant volume by analyzing and processing the whole incoming audio stream in one go.For files at extremely different volumes it can improve the volume (make the differences smaller), but cannot create a perfect result.
Some presets are better for files at extremely different volumes than others. What preset and what settings (slider values) do you use ?
michi95MemberHe must be so busy to build V1.0 versions (no time for this forum at the moment).
Or, Jesse what is the reason for Leif’s inactivity here ?
(reminds of a Passive Aggressor !)michi95Member
the two waveforms seem almost identical.
Is this the way it should look like, Jesse ?
Maybe I am wrong (?):
The waveforms cannot look 100 % identical due to the principle of kernel streaming (mixing) !?
I remember my own tests approx. two years ago when I have done a comparison between VAC, Total Recorder Kernel-mode virtual device driver (KS) and the (old) User-mode virtual device driver.
Only recordings from User-mode virtual device driver gave me exact (bit true)
copies of the sources (16 Bit, 44,1 kHz WAV).
http://www.totalrecorder.com/tr_drivers.htmVery important:
Obvious most people here (and in other audio related forums) prefer using Cool Edit based audio editors (-> old Cool Edit Pro 2.x or Adobe Audition 1.5, etc.).
You can open with these editors an audio file hundred times (using clones of the same source file) and you will get hundred different waveform drawings !
Very small differences indeed (but there is always some kind of random interpolation).
That’s why I have used Wavelab 5 for quick waveform comparisons, after I had discovered this problem in Audition 1.5.So, I don’t know if this random waveform drawing appears with other audio editors, too. (@ radioDJ what audio editor do you use ?)
➡ clone an audio file and open these with your (Cool Edit based or others) audio editor, then you see the difference.PS: Forget about my PNG advice (if you do not need an exact lossless representation).
Generally it is correct (for schematic window content), but for hi-res waveforms (even with two colours) you can create smaller files with JPEG compression.
If you need an exact pixel by pixel (lossless) file PNG is still the better choice (though the file size is bigger as with JPEG @ 1:5 or 1:10 compression ratio) !@ radioDJ
So, have you done an update build ?
michi95Member"Transient AGC processor"
This is a wrong term (misunderstanding of Benny).
I think, too that he means an AGC processor plus an extra transient processor !?Mother google gave me this link:
http://broadcastengineering.com/audio/j … evel_1208/quote :The system uses an adaptive loudness control algorithm that simultaneously involves three basic circuit designs. These include an adaptive AGC, a transient processor and a distortion-free brick wall limiter. For the leveler (AGC and transient processor), Jünger Audio uses a unique combination of level detectors to instantly analyze the incoming audio signal. Dependent on the analysis, the resulting gain change is applied. Two gain change elements together are working in the chain — the transient processor as the fast gain change element and the AGC as the slow gain control element.michi95Member@ vpnmaster
Please, do not use JPEG format for such waveform pics.
For this purpose JPEGs are the wrong choice.
Use PNG instead !
It creates much smaller files (for pictures with limited colours) and most important the PNGs will be lossless !JPEG format is only recommended for pictures (or screenshots) of very complex picture content such as real camera shots (humans, animals, sceneries, buildings, etc.) with millions (or thousands) of colours.
But for schematic pictures (with limited colours) like program window content PNG is the standard format. So, please next time use PNG (or if you still have the original BMPs, please replace the JPEGs here with new PNGs) !
If you are not sure how complex a screenshot is (how many colours it has),
you can do the following:
1. Try PNG format and see how big the resulting file would be as PNG file.
2. Try JPEG (but please with higher compression ratio as you did here)
and see how big the resulting file would be as JPEG file.michi95Member➡ Breakaway Live !

@ All
If you are not sure what Breakaway product is the best for your needs or just want know the difference in detail (trying it on your own PC):
You can install all Breakaway trial versions (Live, Enhancer, Broadcast, etc.).
All these applications are independant (the individual trial periods too) !michi95Member
upcoming Passive Aggressor preset
Ok, I wait three days.
If nothing happens, I will send an explicit report to United Nations and Amnesty International !
Waiting for this preset is like torture. 😥
I am sure that I am not the only one, that checks this forum more or less every half hour (for weeks !) to see if there is an update (with Passive Aggressor preset). -
