I have a new hobby:
I’m counting suspicious posts in this forum.
Obvious not every ordinary member here receives the great honor to be punish… ehh…reviewed and edited by Jesse for the severe crime of begging.

Sorry, Jesse but it is not my fault.
It’s Leif’s fault !
Remember the Happy Easter Conspiracy !
Here is the proof:
viewtopic.php?f=5&t=956&p=6882&hilit=easter#p6882
viewtopic.php?p=6887#p6887
History is on my side !

And who needs a Passive Aggressor in two or three months, when the war will already be over ?
It is never a good idea to hide a superior weapon (and not use it) for too long (until the day comes when it is no longer superior).
Who knows what tomorrow brings ?
Leif is in my trap.
He won’t do it again (a quick build).
But maybe this is what I am really looking for (to hold up Passive Aggressor as long as possible) ? 8) πŸ˜€

@ All

Stop begging.
Start praying.

But seriously:
Forget about this whole conspiracy nonsense !
The answer is:
Leif is busy (with other more important things to do).
And that’s it !
BTTF trilogy
I normally don’t like sequel films at all, because it is very often based on "let’s make more money with the same story".
I hate Matrix 2 and 3, because I like the original Matrix film so much.
But BTTF trilogy is definetly one of the rare exceptions ( ➑ ‘Godfather’ just as well).
An intelligent romantic, sci-fi, family drama and comedy trilogy opening the philosophic perspective (where we come from and where we are going to).
Once in every year I have to watch one of these (just to feel better).
cassette-tape from the early 80’s
From time to time I listen to one of my late 80’s, early 90’s cassette-tapes with radio and TV recordings (before we got a VCR I recorded TV comedy on audio cassettes).
I am always astonished how good (interesting and vivid) these sound.
Ignoring the noise and ‘phasing’ problems it is fascinating to listen, because the micro dynamics (transients) are so much better than todays flat loudness.
Todays limited macro dynamics is an advantage, but the general degree of micro dynamics compression is much too high.
Over the last ten years it has been getting more and more difficult to understand what people say in movies or TV, because most processing ignores the natural calibration of the human hearing system (unnatural, damaged transients).
The interaction between ears and brain to decode is based on our natural environment (all the things we hear from the day of our birth and during our childhood).
I am not kidding:
To create an almost perfect sound processing it could help to consult brain researchers and neuroscientists.
But Jesse described Passive Aggressor as a preset that keeps an eye on good micro dynamics (while adjusting macro dynamics in an intelligent way).
So let’s hope that it solves some of our problems.

Is it only me or do you count the seconds until Passive Aggressor arrives, too ?
It reminds of Samuel Beckett’s ‘Waiting for Godot’. πŸ˜₯
I really should read the older topics before I post, but thanks for your attention πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜‰
No one can expect that new members read all older topics.
In my opinion we are all here to help each other.
With information and experiences.
And I think that very often it happens, that a somehow naive newbie question leads to an idea or inspiration for others to rethink some (doubtless !?) concepts.
In my opinion this is really important because if your source isn’t sounding well, you just can’t make it better using a sound processor.
I disagree.
But I understand that this opinion is based on your experiences.
And yes it is true: most sound processors (even Breakaway, sorry) make many bad sounding sources only less annoying, but you cannot feed them with crap on the input and get high fidelity on the output.
But if you overcome this whole loudness war thing, there is still room for substantial progress in real enhancing sound processing.
With combinations of high quality 10 band (or more) multiband compressor/expander/limiter plus EQs, denoising and intelligent transient tools (not SPL !) already today you can work miracles.
Of course you must know what you do if you don’t want to produce plastic sound that we all know from some (many or even most) of so called remastered edtions.
High fidelity audio engineering is an art.
And it is really a problem today, that we have so many (plugin) tools (coming with preset settings) as if it would be possible to do serious audio engineering with your fingers in your ears.
Kitchen radios are forced to sound as if they are ghetto blasters.
But very often when I play some of these "power" productions with my good old Yamaha hi-fi system, I have to think of ‘Back To Future’ the motion picture with Michael J. Fox from 1985 (this scene at the beginning of the movie when he uses the new monster speaker amp system created by Doc Brown – if you don’t know what I am talking about ➑ watch the movie !).

Maybe Passive Aggressor is too good for a public release ?
Something that Jesse, Leif and Frank want to keep exclusively for their private listening experience.
…Passive Aggressor…..
Another practical question >> When it’s finished, how can I add it into my currenct (activated) version of BBP?
The problem is:
It (Passive Aggressor preset development) is already finished.
Jesse has been teasing us here for months with this "legendary" preset.

But it seems that we have to wait for new Breakaway versions (1.0 release ?) using this new framework structure (Jesse talked about).
And obvious Leif is so busy that we have to be patient.
If Leif had done what I have suggested him months ago (to clone himself),
Passive Aggressor would already be here !
NOW, can anyone tell me why the BreakawayLive.ini file is not in my Breakaway directory??
There should be another .ini file called "EffectMuxer.ini" inside C:Program FilesBreakawayLive.
Can you find this one ?
➑ Try to use the windows search (search for "breakawaylive.ini").
It must be somewhere, because without it Breakaway would not work.
In Windows XP this file is inside the program folder.
Maybe the location for this file is different in Windows 7 (Vista) ?
What Windows version do you use ?

Or:
If you cannot find it even with the Windows search, I guess that on your Windows all files with the ending .ini are considered to be system files and are hidden by default ?
Have you ever seen any file with the ending .ini anywhere on your system ?

In Windows XP pro you can open any folder and then use the menu to navigate to:
Tools ➑ Folder Options ➑ View ➑ Hidden files and folders ➑ Show/or do not show hidden files and folders option

Though on my XP system all .ini files are still visible when I switch to "Do not show hidden files and folders".
But this could be different on newer Windows versions.

For Eruption preset you do not need to enable obsolete presets !

Only the presets at the end of the preset menu list with the extra ending "OB" are so called obsolete presets (older presets).
viewtopic.php?p=8235#p8235
As greatstart already has wrΓtten, if you want to have these too, you have to edit the breakawaylive.ini file (inside your Breakaway live program folder) with a text editor.
Very simple:
In the [Master] section add "ObsoletePresets=1" !
➑ Save it (as breakawaylive.ini !)
I am a new user, getting on in years and not very technically minded ….downloaded Breakaway and could not believe how much better my backing tracks, sounded-absolutely brilliant.
People have different needs.
And if Breakaway is perfect for Ubique’s needs to enhance his backing tracks, then YouWaShock has enough quality for him too.

Obvious he does not want to win an award for 21th century audio engineering.
So, I don’t believe that a not very technically minded person will try to learn how to tweak detailed settings of a multiband compressor.

(this is Sonitus Multiband included in Sonar ❗ )

Let’s wait what Ubique will say !?
…you don’t wanna peak limit before it hits any broadcast audio processing. You will have better results by just mixing properly.
That would be a perfect world. πŸ™‚
….using Sonar for sequencing……….I would like to have the sound from the Sonic Cell processed by Breakaway Live as it is being recorded into Sonar…
So, I guess you are using an ASIO driver for the Sonic Cell.
Without an ASIO driver the latency (the delay) would be too high (monitoring the audio signal thru Sonar) for MIDI sequencing.

Adding Breakaway Live as an extra processing while sequencing/recording would add also extra latency.
So, you can go into the Breakaway Live settings -> I/O Configuration and try to enable ASIO for your Sonic Cell.
But I think the overall latency would be too high.
Another problem:
For recording/sequencing and its step by step logic the Breakaway processing does not make sense, because it is meant as a final processing for a complex mix.

You can try to use it for a single instrument track, but I would recommend to use Breakaway Live only as final (mastering) processing for your written WAV (post Sonar):
viewtopic.php?p=7953#p7953
Keep in mind that in unregistered trial mode Breakaway Live periodically plays a promo jingle (approx. every 30 minutes) !
PS. Breakaway as a VST Plugin would be brill!!!!
This won’t happen (Leif has so much other things to do).

So maybe a good alternative for your recording/sequencing sessions to spice up a single instrument or voice track inside Sonar is this freeware VST-plugin (and Winamp DSP too):
YouWaShock
http://sites.google.com/site/youwashockvst/
It is very simple to use, but is based on the high quality multiband mastering tool
