KeymasterInteresting idea. What would be the right price for a version with scheduling support?
Best regards,

KeymasterThis is a bug in BBP — I’m pretty sure it’s fixed in the latest version. Download the latest version from the forum and it should work.

KeymasterHenk, make sure ST is also generating a pilot into the RDS input in Breakaway.
Breakaway expects both Pilot and RDS on its RDS input.
If you feed only RDS, Breakaway will pass it, but it will be unsynchronized.

KeymasterIt does seem like those games use the sound card’s driver directly, instead of using the default driver.
Is there anywhere to change what sound card to use, inside the game?

KeymasterThere’s currently no support for ASIO dj apps, even in the pro products, but that’s something I do want to support in the future as it’s somewhere where breakaway would be really useful.

KeymasterWow!
Thanks for the bug report — it’s definitely time for an update. Once I get home from my travels I will install Vista SP2 on a machine and start debugging.
I apologize for any inconvenience. For now as a workaround, see if you can run it with Audio Realtime Priority OFF, and Wave instead of DS.
Best regards,

KeymasterRicardo, I believe 0.90.77 doesn’t have the problem. Can’t swear on it, but I’ve never heard of this problem for that one, it seems to be a more recent thing.
0.90.77 is still the only one that is downloadable from the main page — luckily!

KeymasterThe first thing to do is to try to figure out where the clicks are coming from, by a process of elimination.
For example, use a different program to record Pipeline 1, and see whether what you received also had the same glitches.
If so, we know it’s not SAM, plus you could post the clip here, which may allow us to gues.

KeymasterNo difference except that there’s two instead of one. I added one to allow correction of more problematic links.

KeymasterGREAT explanation! Exactly the kind I like 🙂.
Thank you, Arjen.

KeymasterWow.. sounds like a major flaw in the dsp pipeline of edcast if the internet connection can affect speaker output.
Anyway, I saw the red flashing meters with my own eyes today at a transmitter site. Audio was fine though, only the indicator was broken, but this is a definite bug.
When I get back home (after my 3-month trip to europe and the states) I will set up several computers for long-term testing and get to the bottom of all this.

KeymasterAlright, let me try to clear up the confusion:
– The only way to get this to work at all is to run BBP at 50us pre-emph. 15 will not yield proper peak control.
– With lossy links between the processor and the transmitter, you get what you get.
Optimal performance is reached by running BBP at each transmitter site. Sub-optimal performance is reached by taking the computers out.
Best of luck!

KeymasterWhat’s the CPU usage on your machine when you’re running all this together?

KeymasterSveneu, that’s the question I answered. Marian Trace 8 is the best card to feed an FM transmitter.

Keymaster
Let’s say I’m using my 1st PC to measure tilt. First thing I do is using the paralell port trick in bbcal, set the tilt on the screen until my squarewave looks right. If I then connect the output from the second PC into the same card, bbcal still running, set the BBP on PC2 to 60hz squarewave, and adjust the tilt output on BBP until the squarewave looks right again, is BBP calibrated correctly now?
Yes, it should be!
Finally, for simply adjusting the tilt, does the soundcard being used need to be 192khz or will any soundcard be ok for looking at the 60hz squarewaves? I’m not using this for MPX measurements just to get the tilt correct.
Any sound card will do — 192k is neither required nor used.
