Many users do not feel safe about their actual deviation, until they measure it on air somehow.
Indeed. It would be really helpful if your transmitter had a display of the actual peak deviation in kHz.. As long as that meter is accurate (which it really should be in an all-digital transmitter), then you know where you are.
Best,
///LeifLeifKeymasterMichi, LOL 🙂. Alright, fair enough. I should nail down the 1.0 feature set and go for it. I’m tempted to add VST plug-in support though.
There’s of course also the whole idea of the up-sell. Pretty much everyone selling more than one of anything has an up-sell to better products. In this case… BAE –> Live or DJ. And still to come, the surround sound version of BAE.
True that. To be frank, I’m delighted over the feature set and presets in the $29.95 BAE. The FM Mode is a free bonus, not a reason to add all the presets from BBP 🙂.

LeifKeymasterIt’s standard full PCI height, not low profile. It’s also a consumer card, not a pro audio card. Unbalanced analog at -10 level in 1/8" connectors aren’t ideal for a broadcast environment 🙂.

LeifKeymaster
what do you think about the "Audio adjustment" vs "Modulation adjustment" concept?
I’m not sure I understand the difference, since Audio directly controls Modulation on FM.
How about letting the user choose what dB input level will equal 75 kHz deviation, and leave it at that? 🙂

LeifKeymasterCome on Stavros, let him get it out the door already 🙂
LeifKeymasterOh i’m counting in hexadecimal, so after 0.99.99 is 0.99.9A. Will we get to 1.0 in my lifetime? Who knows 🙂
Anyway motor city will be in the next live release. Celeste will be in if Lee XS sends me a live version of the preset.
Live will see a lot of improvements in the near future such as:
Toolbar (finally)
Standby/hibernate crash bug fixed (just like in bae)
PA features for venues with both live-band and DJ
Keyboard control of volume and bypass.Best regards
//LeifLeifKeymasterWow, that’s strange! Sounds like a sound card driver issue.
Could it be that you’re using a laptop and pressing the mute button on the laptop itself, which controls both a physical mute on the sound card AND windows mute function? Perhaps it’s getting confused because the internal sound card is not the default audio device when using Breakaway (the pipeline is, instead).. It’s the only explanation I have, but if that’s really what’s going on, that’s a pretty unreliable design.
If that’s it, how about unmuting the speaker (using windows controls)? Maybe they’ll be in sync again, then. This is purely a guess.
Best,
///LeifLeifKeymasterFor an FM station with streaming, BBP ASIO + LIVE is the best combination.
BBP ASIO shouldn’t do steaming (not ideal sound quality) and BBP LIVE cannot do FM at all.
Best,
///LeifLeifKeymasterIf no audio drivers are involved, where’s the actual source audio for the stream coming from? All generated on the server itself?
If so, 2008 x64 should theoretically be fine. If it ain’t broken, don’t mess with it 🙂.

LeifKeymasterI actually run Windows 7 32-bit on my development system nowadays, but I do indeed run XP 32-bit (XP Embedded) on any dedicated audio systems.

LeifKeymaster
By how much would you recommend turning down the final drive for a Rock webcast?
I LIKE this question, and I agree it’s a matter of turning it down, not up. -1.0dB clears it up considerably for me.

LeifKeymaster
any conclusion on this issue ? will you fix it plzzzZzZzzZZZzzz?
I can’t fix it. The crash isn’t caused by BBP, it’s caused by that driver. It’s actually impossible for an app to cause a bluescreen — only a driver can, and that driver is JulaWDM. It’s a fact of Windows architecture, apps can only crash themselves, not the whole computer. There’s really nothing I can fix — I don’t have access to the Julia driver source code.
It’s only logical that 64-bit audio drivers are buggier and less tested than their 32-bit counterparts, because 32-bit is still the norm, and 64-bit in really not necessary for audio workstations, at least not yet.
I have just ordered a Juli@ so I can test with it more regularly. But, I will be using it with a 32-bit OS.

LeifKeymasterHi Michi!
Any idea why BA Live build 94 wrote the dump.wav to C:Documents and SettingsMichi
Yes, actually.
To write INI files etc, I check what folder Breakaway is running from, and make sure the file ends up in that directory.
On the other hand, "dump.wav" is just written to the current directory. So, if you for example have a shortcut to Breakaway Live with the "Start in:" blank, the current directory will be your user folder.
So, you must have (for example) started it with a shortcut once, and started it by clicking on the EXE once, or something like that. 🙂
Best,
///LeifLeifKeymaster
Camclone, Leif upload 0.94 just yesterday!!
You are the No1 beta tester on the field!!!
From development…to "On Air" ❗ ❗…and without back up 😯
Indeed.. I would not have done this to my station. With computers being as cheap as they are, and me allowing customers to install the software on a backup machine as well, there’s really no excuse not to have a backup if the application really is mission critical.
