Ok gotcha. Thanks Jesse; that makes sense.
celarMember
As an example, here’s the Plutonium preset:
Fascinating to study these parmameters, Leif!
I have one question: Plutonium is a 6-band preset, but there seem to be 7 sets of multiband parms in that listing (numbered 0 through 6). Is it using all 7 of those somehow, or is it just that one of them is unused?
celarMemberNow background noise has nowhere to hide!
We switched to Eruption, and our morning guy got a call from his doctor. Told him he’s got a heart murmur.
<rim shot>
celarMember
Eruption corrects for level differences *very* quickly, and quickly pulls even quiet parts of songs out of the mud.
Wow that’s for sure!I was playing around with it, and this gave me a chuckle.
Check out the silent part of this Bryan Adams clip; it’s a rather amusing demonstration of Eruption. (Use headphones)
First in regular Plutonium:

Now in Eruption:
celarMemberYeah, Breakaway Live has a commercial; I’ve heard it a few times from my Live demo. Not sure what the periodicity is but it plays every so often.
celarMemberMany thanks!
"Two speakers"… dude, this feature is even helpful in calibrating one speaker.
celarMemberExcellent, Leif!
Damn, I would have been doing it completely wrong using the RTA. Funny….
celarMemberWOW- fantastic, I never knew you had to move the mic around while calibrating.
One question about your instructions: I always assumed one should use white noise to calibrate, since white noise frequencies are of equal power. Can you elaborate on the use of pink noise for this purpose?
A thousand thanks, as always.
celarMemberOkay. Now for karaoke, you’d need to do some mic processing! (Which I suppose you could indeed jerry-rig a Breakaway preset to do)
So I’m figuring two instances of BBP for this application: One on the singer’s mic, and another for final program out.
celarMemberJust wanted to say thanks once more (duplicating my earlier thanks) for this. I have already started playing around with it, and today ordered a Behringer ECM8000 mic for this project next month. Thanks to you, the mic is the only thing we have to pay for.
celarMemberDude!
I was literally planning to buy RTA software next month for a project.
Dude!
That timing is so weird. Wow, thanks.
Hey do you have a PayPal account or something; are you accepting tips for this? Great free project.
celarMemberOh, my. Have I made a major boo-boo? I’ve set up a server running BBP (not in production use yet, but I hope to bring it live in the near future) which has a dual-core AMD Opteron 1216 HE processor.
And as far as I can tell, everything’s been working great on this machine. But can you tell me what caveats to watch for, running on this AMD chip?
Sorry, perhaps this was a major oversight on my part.
celarMemberThanks! Very well-spoken and well-thought. (As always Leif!)
celarMemberLeif… I was surprised to hear you refer to "the uncopyable Orban sound". Is there something inherent about Orban that makes its sound uncopyable? (I’m asking on behalf of those of us who might want to get that sound using only BBP, either with the current version or a full-control version…)
celarMemberJust a question: The online station that’s going to air the show, do they use some sort of processing? If so, then you might not even want to process your show before sending to them (to avoid double-processing which sounds bad).
