New version — with a new preset!
I wasn’t really planning a new release, but you guys have to hear this new preset.
It’s called "Eruption", and it’s by Johnny Lundholm (Radio 88, Gothenburg) and myself.
It’s the fatter, meaner cousin of Plutonium. Multiband is slightly modified, but the AGC is radically different from other presets, in that it’s extremely fast. It removes pretty much any trace of long-term dynamics — while still allowing the short-term dynamics and punch you’re used to from Plutonium. It corrects for level differences *very* quickly, and quickly pulls even quiet parts of songs out of the mud.
It’s a must-hear for anyone who likes heavy processing 😉. Check it out, let me know what you think.
BBP ASIO 0.90.83
BBP 0.90.83
BA Live 0.90.83Don’t put this straight into your on-air processor machine.
Test it on a non-critical machine first. I’m travelling (in Sweden at the moment), and have been for two months, so my testing facilities are somewhat limited.

September 13, 2009 at 9:25 pm #8311AnonymousGuestMy new favorite preset with Plutonium now a distant second 😀 . By the way I see you are using a new domain- ceaudio.com. I guess that’s a bit easier to remember.
Wow, thanks! 🙂
And yes, ceaudio.com is a little easier than claessonedwards.com — who can even spell that, anyway 😉. We’ve got breakawayaudio.com too.

Wow that’s for sure!I was playing around with it, and this gave me a chuckle.
Check out the silent part of this Bryan Adams clip; it’s a rather amusing demonstration of Eruption. (Use headphones)

September 14, 2009 at 1:55 am #8314AnonymousGuest😯 WOW !!! Can’t stop listening to Baba O’Riley (The Who) with Eruption !
You may also try "Get here" by Oletta Adams and compare Plutonium versus Eruption.. Very quick recovery, indeed !
Can’t wait to put this version on-air.. Will just leave the PC running overnight to check for stability and if all goes right – it’ll be on air ASAP ! 😀
Nice work Leif and Johnny – as always…

September 14, 2009 at 4:56 pm #8315TDCatMemberHehe!! I’m afraid it’s a bit too rich for me 😀
My personal preference is that the AGC should always be ‘a slow hand on the pot’ for processing with the multiband offering fast release times.
That said, I listened to a fair number of tracks and the detail revealed is great on some tracks (listening on HD650’s).
Great work as always!!
Torsten.
September 14, 2009 at 5:53 pm #8316celarMemberNow background noise has nowhere to hide!
We switched to Eruption, and our morning guy got a call from his doctor. Told him he’s got a heart murmur.
<rim shot>
A lot of people agree with you. For those people, I recommend almost any preset except eruption. 😀
Same here, something I mentioned some time ago and also asked if it’s possible to have seperate AGC and MBL speed controls.. Any chance of this Leif? This is still a major disadvantage of BBP against other products in my opinion.

I’ve listened to them on headphones, at various different levels.
I notice very quickly exaggerated background noise and analogue tape hiss, apart from this, was there something else?September 16, 2009 at 10:54 pm #8321LeifKeymaster
I’ve listened to them on headphones, at various different levels.I notice very quickly exaggerated background noise and analogue tape hiss, apart from this, was there something else?
No, that’s it.
Some people love over-the-top fast AGCs like this one 🙂. Other people do not.
Breakaway has proven it can do transparent levelling since the very beginning. Intentionally audible leveling, on the other hand, has never available before. For some people, this appears to have been what was missing 🙂.

This may possibly come. No promises though.
Those other products have inferior back-ends which end up distorting the audio when doing peak control. I guess one has to weigh the pros and cons.

September 17, 2009 at 3:23 pm #8322AnonymousGuestI really enjoy the sound of Eruption. The Bass bump is welcome. The AGC is a bit fast for my taste, but it’s quite workable.
Well done.September 17, 2009 at 7:54 pm #8323LeifKeymasterThank you 🙂. Cixel, try running Eruption with Speed 30. I’ve been listening to it that way all day, works for me. 🙂
