I've given up! Whoever figured Breakaway is a mixing wizard!
I tried guide myself using these chains seen here to no avail. Maybe I lack proper plugins, I'm not the guy who owns 344 million VSTS, I like to pick a few good ones for my needs.
I'll consider BA1 once I can afford. Dollars for me are 4x more expensive  :-\
Do I get full functionality with trial version? How much time can I test, what's the limit?

Don't know if it is going to help, but here is my experience with Lenovo and W10:

    • The pc came with DolbyDAX2 audio driver. I also installed Realtek because I like its flateness for raw stereomix recording.
    • In order for breakaway (BAE) to work properly, I had to disable in "StartUp" (ctrl + alt + esc -> startup tab -> right click: disable) both DolbyDAX2 and Realtek. The Realtek driver gives me no issue, but the DolbyDAX2, being an "enhancer" itself, was giving me a weird conflict with my BAE. Like the sound was going through both drivers instead of just one and causing peak cracks.
    • I also noticed the same conflict after installing iTunes.

So my suggestion would be to disable other drivers, restart and install Breakaway and try again. I don't know if this problem is from Windows, Breakaway or Lenovo, but in my case this is what's going on.

    Update on my experiments:

First I recorded an audio, raw, with no modifications on the microphone or the soundcard mixer. As flat as my gear allows (BM800 condenser + Roland QuadCapture soundcard + Audacity)
Then I exported to high quality mp3, and played it in Foobar2000 to play it as flat as possible.
Then I recorded my stereomix in audacity again, but with B.A.E. enabled in Regulator mode.
Then I tried to use lots of Waves VSTs and Nomad Factory Multimax to emulate the same sound with a similar curve shape.
No success. B.A.E. is ridiculously hard to emulate properly!!!!
The closest I got was using a multiband compressor -> limiter -> amt multimax. But it got really "heavy" and dull. It lack the smooth dynamics of B.A.E.

I have some questions to the pros here:
    – Does B.A.E. use EQ?
    – Does B.A.E. use the reverb enhancing trick or just SRS WOW?
    – I saw a product called Isotope Ozone that has a "match" function to emulate other track curves. Does anyone here uses or used it and can confirm it works? (It's an expensive plugin!)

PS: I could just keep recording my stereomix to get that pretty B.A.E. enhancement, but this type of recording belongs to the era of tapes! And I'd like to keep it in the past.
I need something more practical and faster, to figure the right plugins in the right chain and make a preset so I can automatically enhance any audio I want with a single click.

Never tried RME. I'm a begginer in the world of audio processing, started 2015.
In the future I'll start my racks. I'm thinking about trying Waves Multirack to get a sense of it before inverting in real gear.
The Roland QuadCapture is my entry soundcard. It has a decent performance with hardware like AMPs, but in Windows something is hogging it. I'll try Amplitube or Guitar Rig too see if its not a software problem. When I do it I'll report back.

A friend DJ once told me the same thing when we were discussing Howard Stern audio processing.
But I always look for a "setup", or a "preset", call it what you want, a "standard", a "profile", whatever! I just want to have THAT sound, more or less, no matter where I record or with what gear.
This is why I love Breakaway, because it gives me always "THAT" sound, no matter what computer or player I play a certain track.
But if you want this experience recorded, your only choice is to record your stereo mixer, like we did old style with tapes!  😀 Needless to say this is not viable for live broadcasting or mastering.

But I think I am getting close:
In my searches, I found a VST called AMT Multi Max from NomadFactory. It comes really close to the sound of "Regulator" from B.A.E.
I'm currently fine tunning it. But I'm not that good yet, if someone wishes to try, please write here or upload your presets so I can try.

My current problem is: If I enhance vocal clarity in MultiMax, it gets too warm for music. If I enhance the lower range for boominess in music, I get mud in vocal clarity. I know I have to chain it to other VST's, but I couldn't figure it yet!

    — PS: I always do mixing with Breakaway disabled!

in reply to: Reporting iTunes conflict #5778

I did. I uninstalled Breakaway and left only the Realtek driver. It sounded normal. The problem only happened with Breakaway installed.

Its like, imagine you record your stereo mixer with breakaway enabled. Then you listen to the already enhanced recording with breakaway enabled. Its like I had 2 breakaways enhancing the sound of the other.

Maybe iTunes has a "breakaway" of its own. Many audio drivers and players do have internal enhancements. For exmaple: In WMP you can enable SRS WOW, my DAX2 Dolby driver also has an enhancer. If you try with breakaway you can get a really dirty sound really easy.

    Thank you for the support.

Address was right. It was the first thing I suspected.

Btw, if you want to delete my previous and unverifyed account request you can do, I'll no longer need that.
It has the same e-mail as this I'm using, but it is a "gmail" instead of hotmail.

Thank you JesseG for the answer.

I tweak my computer to the end to no avail.
Then a bug happened in another forum I participate. The website was failing to redirect me after login.
One moderator from their support team told me it was a "cookie" problem. I then decided to nuke cookies from my computer, together with all temporary files and clutter.
I swept my computer with a tool called "WiseDiskCleaner"* and then restarted.
To my surprise, my Windows now switch back and forth from Breakaway to DolbyDAX, no problem! I wonder where the problem was… some messed up setting or clutter conflict, god knows!
So this problem is solved!  😀

About the bypass button, hitting it for some reason do not sound the same to me. Sounds weak, too weak. Maybe the DolbyDAX also has some type of enhancement algorithm in it, even though I keep the equalizer flat.

I still can't get rid of latency though. I want to record music, guitars, eletric guitars, keyboard, etc. with "live" VST effects emulated in VSTHost. The same problem happens if I emulate the plugins in a DAW. I have to figure why this ugly latency is happening. It is not too much, but enough to prevent proper playing. What is weird is that my microphone is just fine! Also, I had already tried changing buffer size, but it solved nothing. I tried changing cables, checking grounding, checking CPU usage, etc.
My soundcard is a Roland QuaCapture. My pc an i5 7200U 8GB.

*A rather dangerous tool, but I knew what I was doing, but I don't recommend for everyone. It can seriously damage Windows.
