Oh, I’ve definitely used a virtual cable to dub music I’ve processed with BA1 for playback in car before I came across the streaming route. Hell, 20 years ago, I used Octimax and my cassette recorder to make car-compatible mixes of shitty Napster rips in high school. This kind of thing would be right up my alley.

I think a file-based option would be excellent, and as I mentioned, already exists in other forms from Telos. And as for plugins, there’s nothing too big or complex about it if you look at what other products get squeezed into a single VST plugin (FL Studio in its near entirety for example).

However, I honestly don’t think CE Audio would charge a low enough rate for those to be profitable while being affordable, especially if they include any extra exposed settings than BA1’s HD core. The Telos Omnia file-based implementation was thousands of USD last time I researched, but that’s not exactly as simplified as something like Breakaway… so I dunno.

Again, I’d be interested in this to be able to “remaster” music ahead of time for consistent-sounding playback. I would like to be able to render out a better-sounding audio track of a movie and add it to the video container as an alternate audio track for playback on the living room tv. I want to be able to put a bunch of pre-processed mp3’s on my broke cousin’s DAP so she can listen to bass music on her boombox. There are uses for sure, and recording from a virtual cable is such a time-consuming slog.

edit: Optimally I’d prefer a VST that I could use in a DAW so I could just batch-process the audio with additional plugins, rather than a straight-up file-based option.

As much as I’d love to be able to buy a file-based or plugin-based Breakaway, I can’t see this being a business decision Leif and John would make. The bigger income comes from the broadcasting-capable modules, and that aspect would be inapplicable from a plugin or file processor. As a fan of Breakaway One for its processing capabilities, who couldn’t care less about the broadcasting capabilities, I’m all for a file or plugin-based implementation.

I know Telos has Omnia Tools or something that allows for file-based processing, but I don’t know anything else about it. It doesn’t look like it uses the same framework as Omnia 7/9 and BA1 from the screenshots, so it’s probably not Leif’s to port. I wish we knew exactly what was out of bounds with regard to Telos-owned things.

Oh, Leif, this should go without saying, but please include all the updates to your Omnia line that fit within BA1. I remember reading about a bass clipper update a while back, for example.

Could we also get a sub-harmonics synthesizer? I know Omnia has Solar Plexus, but I don’t know whose it is (Telos’s or Mr. Gould’s, etc) and whether it could be implemented. I realize there are VSTs that do what I want, but they don’t sound right when applied to the input where the plugins go… they fit much better after Multibands, as I’m sure you know much better than I.

What kind of update are we talking about here? Full-on framework update to the NF code or whatever it’s called? If so, that takes care of the DPI and scaling aspect. Otherwise, it needs a built-in scaling slider from 1x to 4x (8K desktop resolution is coming and will hit us before we know it).

Can we get support for plugins? (particularly Winamp DSPs on input — for pre-leveling, subharmonics, declipping, etc).

Outputs to more than one device? I see folks wanting to swap between headphones and speakers and getting frustrated about having to configure it each time.

Update the pipeline to a newer version that supports greater than 16-bit depth?

Again, I haven’t been using this software as much as I used to, so I’ll have to add more as they come to me.

Please sell us the multiband dynamics detector and expander component of Undo so we can pair it with Hans’s Declipper plugin to get proper Undo at home.

The VST host container cannot be properly resized by dragging the container borders… However, I can force a size using keyboard commands and third-party apps.

Can we get an update to the VST host to allow 64-bit VST2 plugins (or VST3’s perhaps) rather than the basic 32-bit VST2s only?

Can we get output metering that shows LUFS-I, LUFS-S, LUFS-M as well as dynamics information (LRA, etc)?

I’m sure I’ll think of more to add when they come to me.

Hi. I never figured out how to get HE-AAC to work in the custom encoder, but I got LAME working. Here’s mine:

    encoder:lame.exe -r -s %samplerate% -b %bitrate% -x – –
    Mime Type:audio/mpeg
    Bit Rate: 320
    Sample Rate: 48000

POS1 was the one who brought up Stereo Tool. Secondly, lol @ deflecting and reducing this person’s issue to a whim.

This is where I like to combine processors to mix and match effects that work well together. Specifically, I mean to introduce a VST plugin for subharmonic synthesis, sort of like an Epicenter does for car audio. The only one I know of that works with BA1 (VST2 32bit) is the TrueBass filter in the Stereo Tool plugin. (http://help.stereotool.com/7.83/true_bass.shtml) But these two processors work synergistically.

However, I’m not sure why you’re not hearing ANY difference with the Deep Bass slider. That should at least make you hear SOMETHING, if not exactly what you’re looking for.

“The program would be commercially unsupportable if he were to release “tweaks” on the fly for each personal request.”

While true, updated versions of this software framework exist, and I don’t mean the illicit stuff. Let’s be real, BreakawayOne is a restricted/simplified Omnia 7/9… which is pretty fantastic, right? However, that software has been receiving updates in the 4 and a half years since the last BA1 release, and there’s no way it’s all premium stuff that only pro or funded stations could afford. They used to have patches and notes, but I can’t seem to find them anymore on the Telos website, but I seem to recall reading about bass clipper improvements among others. I’ve been dying to try out SolarPlexus and compare it to TrueBass (I love subharmonics).

As an outsider looking in, this appears to be something fairly trivial. Secondly, it would nip this “seeking of newer versions than 3.19.43 and ending up at a nefarious place” thing in the bud. I stand to be corrected.

This is a topic I wish I could send direct messages about, rather than say anything here. What’s happening is the Napster phenomenon, and I won’t elaborate publically. Leif is old enough to remember when this happened because I was using his software back then too.

AFAIK it should be 3.19.43 from 2018/6/29

At least that’s the latest one available on the official breakawayone.com website.

Okay, after some playing around with other virtual soundcards (Voicemeeter), I landed on one with a buffer combination that works (Voicemeeter VAIO). BAE ignores VAC-based virtual cards like Breakaway Pipeline, which is what made me think it was not intended to do this. So download Voicemeeter Banana to get the driver.

    Input: KS, “Breakaway Pipeline 1” (duh) 480, 4, 48000, 2.
    Output: KS, “VoiceMeter vaio”, 240, 4, 48000, 2.
Audio Realtime Priority and Adaptive SRC enabled.

I did not open a DAW and try to record from it, but I’m able to listen to it by using “Listen to this device” and it doesn’t have any noticeable latency. There’s the occasional pop, so the buffers don’t seem perfect yet.

I spent a while trying to get BAE to record processed audio some years back, and it seems explicitly programmed to disallow this. What you want is a feature of BreakawayOne.

Yeah, the Downloads page has the latest links. However the Home-Audio page that hosts all the BAE info contains links to the older version.

    @Milky
, could you let Leif know this so he can update that link and reduce the number of accidental 1.40 downloads?

Nice! Also, the latest version of BAE is 1.42. This may or may not have an impact on the reliability of the virtual soundcard driver. Glad you got it sorted.

Which version do you have installed? Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling? I just loaded it up on my Win11 laptop and it seems fine so far…
