Ah, mikehende! Glad you found Breakaway. It’s significantly less confusing and complex than that other processor. I wanted to recommend trying this, but it felt kinda weird recommending a competitor on their forum.
I hope you can find a preset and configuration that meets your needs.
edit: I don’t currently have it installed, so any support I can offer is very limited.

December 15, 2020 at 7:44 pm in reply to: Fine Tuning Breakaway Audio Enhancer – All about Interfaces, Buffers and Rates #16265MrKloroxParticipantThis post is excellent and enlightening. Thank you. I nominate it for a pin.
MrKloroxParticipantI believe the current solution is to wait for the update to Breakaway products that contain an updated version of the virtual audio cable, which Windows recently broke. We’ve been told it’s in the works. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was coming soon as a holiday gift.
MrKloroxParticipantWhen I run ST as a plugin from within Breakaway One, I can say the CPU usage is higher than the Breakawayone HD core. However, how much more depends almost entirely on what processing effects you have enabled, obviously. I use a few higher CPU effects when set to low CPU intensity (Pi3) at 150% quality. This results in the BAOne VST host (with only STereo Tool running) are about 7.5% while the BreakawayOne core application processing a single HD core at low quality/latency remains around 2.5%.
I hope this is helpful.
edit: None of this is with MPX processing, or FM or anything like that enabled. So I can’t speak for that impact.

MrKloroxParticipantFair enough. Yes, that’s probably a good idea. I’ll let you do the honors of creating it though, so you can outline what’s reasonable to wish for (ie fixes/QOL improvements as opposed to new features, etc) in the opening post.
MrKloroxParticipantAlso, when suggesting BAE to friends, their most common complaint is that it doesn’t support multiple outs. I try to then direct them to BA1, but they assume they’ll get sick of the nag/reminder every few hours. If they could leave their headsets plugged in and get sound from their speakers at the same time using just BAE, I think they would be more likely to buy a license.
Just a thought that crossed my mind after posting, and I seem to be unable to edit.
But really, any updates to either app would be appreciated. Folks like them, even when nothing is technically busted.
edit test: Okay. somehow I’m able to edit this one, whereas in my last post, the button disappeared after I clicked it.
Getting an extra Speaker out for the Pass-Through license would also be excellent, and I’d buy one to have extra outs for sure, even though the native version of BA1 supports Common + asio in addition to the cores.

MrKloroxParticipantOh rad! Can we speculate about what it might contain?
Hopefully an improved tray icon that shows when the app is disabled, or offers a simple way to disable by right click or something.
Possibly the improvements to the bass clipper that some Omnia products received.
Perhaps some new or updated presets?
MrKloroxParticipantHave you tried launching the BaRemote.exe application directly?
MrKloroxParticipant@Milky Do you mind sharing what forum you’re asking these questions in? I’m always looking for places to lurk and learn about audio processing. Less so in regards to the broadcasting side of the processors. Thanks!
MrKloroxParticipantAgreed. However, I’m pretty sure the concept of BreakawayOne is to provide near-Omnia processing with minimal ability to make it sound bad. Meaning those extra controls you want are intentionally not included in the product. This my interpretation.
However, I’d be happy to buy an upgrade that allows extra, more advanced configuration. In the meantime, I use another software processor as a VST plugin from within BreakawayOne.
Though for a final color shaping or attenuation, I believe you would want to look for the OUTMIX entries in the preset AMX files.

MrKloroxParticipantDrama aside, I appreciate your processing advice and presets you’ve shared across your accounts. As a fan of both BA1 and Stereo Tool, I’ll be looking into these. Thank you.
MrKloroxParticipantOk, is there a way to report posts or PM an admin? I’m not seeing how.
MrKloroxParticipantHi. Glad to have a more secure forum. Sadly this current layout doesn’t show the latest topic. You have to scroll down and look at the latest post time instead. I don’t know if this is changeable, but it would be an appreciated inclusion.
Secondly, the microphone banner is kinda tall. You have to scroll down a page-length to get to the topics.
These are my only notes for now. Thanks for looking into a better forum!
MrKloroxParticipantAre you asking how to make BreakawayOne startup with Windows in fullscreen display only mode?
Try looking for C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\BaRemote\BaRemote.txt to see what command line shortcut options you can use. I know for certain you'll need the Management Package at least to make it start with Windows.
Basically what you want to do is install the service so BreakawayOne runs in the background at startup. Then you would want to launch BaRemote as a startup item with the command line options you need. These seem relevant. I don't have the management package, so I just use the wheel_adjust=1 setting in my breakaway app shortcut.
- host=xx hostname (or ip)
- password=**** password (not necessary for localhost connections)
- port=xx port number (optional, defaults to 8200 if omitted)
- retry retry connection indefinitely without ever displaying retry/cancel dialog. will also reconnect after connection lost.
- retry=x retry for x seconds then display retry/cancel dialog. if connection lost, will display retry/cancel dialog.
- displays_only Starts up in "Displays Only" mode. Clicking on any display takes you back to normal mode.
- wheel_adjust=x Use mouse wheel to adjust sliders (rather than change page). x=gear ratio, for example wheel_adjust=1
This thread should give you a basic idea of how to add command line options to a shortcut: https://superuser.com/questions/29569/how-to-add-command-line-options-to-shortcut
MrKloroxParticipantHi. You're probably trying to apply a processing preset to your Speaker Output. You need to make sure you've chosen Audio Processor. 🙂
To export all other settings, choose Common> System> System Information> Backup (Save) Configuration Zip (bottom right corner).
