Hello all, I am new here. Just installed BAE and have a few questions please.
BAE seems to work well for volume normalizing but I am mainly seeking multiband compression so every instrument in every track will sound at around the same volume level. Is there any special way to optimize BAE for this please?
Next, which preset under Reference Heavy might be best for normal mp3 playback please? Thx, Mike.
p.s. Milky if you see this post thanks for alerting me!

December 15, 2020 at 8:55 am #16255mikehendeParticipantOhh, my apologies, can any Mod/Admin please move this thread to that forum please?
December 15, 2020 at 9:55 am #16259MilkyKeymasterHi Mike! You made it!
I have moved your query to the correct thread. You make the coarse adjustments by selecting a preset. You can work your way through the ones provided to see if any approximate what you are trying to achieve.
Then you make adjustments using the sliders provided for Power (Compression Ratio), Compression Range and Compression Speed. If you hover the mouse cursor over each of the sliders, a pop-up will explain what each one does.

December 16, 2020 at 8:25 am #16270MrKloroxParticipantAh, mikehende! Glad you found Breakaway. It’s significantly less confusing and complex than that other processor. I wanted to recommend trying this, but it felt kinda weird recommending a competitor on their forum.
I hope you can find a preset and configuration that meets your needs.
edit: I don’t currently have it installed, so any support I can offer is very limited.

December 17, 2020 at 10:26 am #16278mikehendeParticipantThat name sounds familiar Mr. Klorox, where did we meet?
December 17, 2020 at 11:53 pm #16279MrKloroxParticipantI was trying to help you to configure a different processor on their forum. I had mentioned possibly needing Breakaway Pipeline at one point to correctly route audio through your DJ software. I also sent a preset, but it wasn’t what you were looking for.
December 18, 2020 at 5:06 am #16280mikehendeParticipantRight, I remember, we were trying out both Stereo Tool and the other Multiband Compressing softwares which did not work well for me as they both were coloring the sound but thanks a million again for your very many efforts!
Milky was the first one to mention and recommend BAE years ago and I had tried the demo and it had worked great for volume leveling but since OTS has a built-in AGC/Compressor/Limiter for volume leveling and does a good job at it I did not see the need to use anything else for that purpose.
Thing is, at that time when I had tried BAE’s demo I wasn’t looking into Multiband Compression, it’s only a short while back when Milky mentioned it again and that it can help with Multiband Compressing that I decided why not give it a shot? So I just purchased it and will try it out tomorrow and will report back on Sunday.
I have a very specific REGGAE mix which was recorded with a lot of mids and highs which I will play outside of OTS and also I have some tunes I play in OTS which has louder Mids/Vocals too. If these specific tunes can all play with around the same level of vocals/highs then I will know where I’m at with BAE and then work on it from there.
December 20, 2020 at 10:33 am #16284mikehendeParticipantWell guys, I just listened to an hour of music with BAE running and as mentioned I played some problem tunes and from different sources and BAE worked very well.
So, not sure if I will need to do any tweaking at all but I will report back if ever needed but I am very happy with BAE, appreciate it guys [Milky], Happy Holidays to you all and be safe! Mike.
