All defaults, French Kiss preset.  No DSP plugins, no crap = amazing sound.  Challenger stereo enhancer turned on with defaults.

Seeing RCA connectors for audio inputs and a microphone input starts alarm bells ringing straight away with me that this must be a cheap transmitter and most certainly not what most would consider a Professional unit.
It's unlikely that you can disable the internal stereo encoder, my guess is that it's all on the one board with no way to defeat it and connect a MPX signal straight to the exciter. I notice there is an RDS input socket but this is just combined with the already internally generated stereo MPX signal.
If the audio sounds very flat and lacking in high frequency, maybe in BBP, you have pre-emphasis on but if you are using the L/R outputs and not the MPX out, maybe the de-emphasis is selected on, which will mean that the pre-emphasis is not getting passed on, it's being reversed before the output.

Thanks for the reply.  The transmitter is a piece of junk.  I'd urge anyone to avoid most Chinese transmitters as they lack quality for a number of different reasons.  In this case, pre-emphasis is disabled at the transmitter and enabled in breakaway without de-emphasis checked. The sound quality problems are minimal but existent nonetheless.  For our small radio station we will be replacing the Chinese junk with a Tugicom transmitter.

Thanks for the reply. I tried to use that MPX input but I get screeching high sounds with no base or mid range.  Am I doing something wrong?

Same problem here.  No logs.  Event viewer just shows exception (not much help).  You might consider a batch file or task scheduler to automatically restart it every so often.

Breakaway is MUCH better as a standalone product that Stereo Tool.  However, I've found the best solution is to run Stereo Tool as a DSP plugin through Breakaway.  I let Stereo Tool handle the Stereo, Declipping, Natural Dynamics and Base Boost.  This is how I've achieved the loudest, cleanest sound.

You may also want to consider updating to the latest version of BBP, version 0.90.95
http://claessonedwards.com/download/breakaway_broadcast_setup_0.90.95.exe
just in case there was a bug fix that was addressed.

Also to anyone who may be reading this, AVG has been a thorn in many system admin sides. If you want a free anti-virus that's much faster, much better detection/heuristic rates, much lower false positives… Avast is #1 Free AV for years now.

Proof? 🙂

(note: "AVG Internet Security" is not the same thing as "AVG Antivirus Protection FREE" and they chose to not have their free version in those tests several years ago because of how bad it was testing, mmmkay)

I updated to the latest version and all is well.  Thank you.

Same problem.  AVG isn't the issue.  Rather, it seems to be a permissions related.  Occasionally, I receive an error message saying Access Denied (with the path to the program exe).  Using compatibility mode, "run as administrator" and taking ownership and giving your account full permissions to the program files (x86) and Users directory doesn't help.

I hope a solution can be found for this because BBP is great software.

I very much appreciate the response.  Unfortunately, I don't see the icon in the system tray.  It's as if it's running hidden (like what can be done through task scheduler).  But I'm launching the exe directly.  It shows in task manager but no notification icon or user interface.

Mine also hangs on benchmarking cpu.  Update 1511 is installed.  Is there really no solution for this?

Also, disabling/enabling User Account Control through the registry makes no difference.

So is this software completely dead in the water?  I upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 (64-bit).  After, launching breakaway broadcast processor, it wouldn't show on the screen or in the notification area.  I would see it in task manager, but it didn't seem to be doing anything.  I tried to uninstall and reinstall but the installer hangs on benchmarking the CPU.  I tried to go into my App Data folder and run the breakaway.exe file, but that didn't work.  Running as an Administrator or using compatibility settings (windows 7, etc) doesn't help.  Is it time to finally ditch this software?

The problem is my transmitter only has one input for the audio and mic. I assume the wideband input is built into the audio input considering it has programmable RDS on the front panel. That means the same sound card that runs my processed audio also has to carry the RDS pilot tone. The problem is, I can’t figure out anyway to do this. I tried using a stand alone RDS generator to output to a breakaway pipeline and then using that pipeline as the input. Not only does the RDS REFUSE to show up on any receiver, I get crappy mono sound coming through my audio.

Looks like I’ll just have to give up on this as there obviously isn’t a way that’s going to work with my setup.

I appreciate the help regardless.

I think part of my problem is that I’m running Stereo Tool through Breakaway and the sound generated by Breakaway is automatically inputed into Stereo Tool. Therefore, when I enable the RDS output to the pipeline, it’s creating a loopback. I’ll continue to hack through this and post my results. I’m reluctant to spend the money on airomate. Perhaps a free RDS generator exists.

Whenever I try to set anything to kernel streaming in the I/O config I get an error that says "failed to create input pin". Is this because I need ASIO?
1) We are all volunteers here. Not all are technical experts.

3) Many do not even know what RDS means.
4) The developer, who obviously could help you, is currently absent from the forum.
5) May I suggest that, when you enter the forum, you check your attitude at the door? You’ll get a lot more help if you ask concise questions in a concilliatory fashion, and show some temperance if the answers are not to your liking.
I apologize for my attitude. I understand the situation here. I will poke around a bit and see if i can find a solution to the issue, then post my results here so others will know what to do. There’s a pretty good guide on this site regarding airomate, but that program isn’t free and the trial version doesn’t give you the functionality to conduct a proper test before you buy it. I will also try bennylein1985’s suggestion.
