Been runnin Breakaway Broadcaster since 2011 without a hitch on Windows 7 Pro. All of a sudden the program wouldnt load. Tried several things and decided to unistall and reinstall. The uninstall program hung saying it could not find a certain .dll After that it wont appear in the uninstall in control panel…did a search and unsistall showed up but ti still hangs. Attempted reinstall but that hangs at "checking CPU" i am stuck…any help would be appreciated
May 13, 2016 at 10:56 am #14240lan04MemberAVG virus was the culprit after an update….Did a system restore and made an exception in AVG and all is well again.
May 25, 2016 at 5:18 pm #14241tardolusMemberBreakaway Broadcast processor just suddenly stopped working. I uninstalled it and reinstalled, nothing changed. Also breakaway icon is just "blank white page" and the main window or system tray icon wont start. In task manager it is visible but it just wont start… 🙁 I started Windows in recovery mode and there I can start it like nothing, of course without music since audio cards doesnt work on recovery mode…
I have Fujitsu Lifebook A512 with 64bit Win 7, BBP is version 0.90.69. Help! :-[EDIT: Also: when trying to install BBP again, it just hangs in "Please while determining your CPU performance".
May 25, 2016 at 5:26 pm #14242tardolusMemberI have this same issue! I only have Microsoft Security Essentials, but BBP just wont start, even the program icon is just "blank white page". Help is welcome! And yea, uninstalling doesn't work either. Win 7, 64bit. BBP suddenly just wont load.

May 25, 2016 at 9:22 pm #14244yorkie98ParticipantThere's another thread just come up on this same subject. It seems it's an issue with AVG anti virus.
May 26, 2016 at 1:39 am #14245AlcyoneMemberSame problem. AVG isn't the issue. Rather, it seems to be a permissions related. Occasionally, I receive an error message saying Access Denied (with the path to the program exe). Using compatibility mode, "run as administrator" and taking ownership and giving your account full permissions to the program files (x86) and Users directory doesn't help.
I hope a solution can be found for this because BBP is great software.
May 26, 2016 at 4:12 am #14246JesseGMemberYou may also want to consider updating to the latest version of BBP, version 0.90.95

just in case there was a bug fix that was addressed. Also to anyone who may be reading this, AVG has been a thorn in many system admin sides. If you want a free anti-virus that's much faster, much better detection/heuristic rates, much lower false positives… Avast is #1 Free AV for years now.

Interesting. Have you tried disabling it while installing/running Breakaway, just to see if that's a problem?May 26, 2016 at 6:14 am #14248tardolusMember[quote author=JesseG link=topic=5304.msg18835#msg18835 date=1464237623]

May 26, 2016 at 5:34 pm #14252JesseGMemberWhat version of Windows are you using?
Did BBP stop working while it was already running, or did it stop working when it was trying to start running?
If BBP stopped working while it was running, have you checked "programs and features" / "add/remove programs" in the control panel to see if anything was installed/updated around the time it stopped working? (some software updates don't show up in there)
So you've tried adding an exception in your anti-virus, and tried disabling your anti-virus to see if Breakaway can work (or reinstall)…
Then can you see if you're able to:
- save screenshots of the settings you want to save
- restart Windows
- boot into Safe Mode (press F8 key a lot before the Windows loading screen displays and select "Safe Mode")
- uninstall all versions of Breakaway
- restart Windows
- boot into "Safe Mode with networking"
- install the latest Breakaway Audio Enhancer and then install whatever other versions of Breakaway you need
- see if it works (without sound of course)
- restart Windows
- see if it works
And if doesn't work:
- shut down Breakaway
- disable your anti-virus
- run Breakaway again
- see if it works
An "Access Denied" error could easily be caused by an anti-virus software, since it's hooking (intercepting) the file system (among other things) in ring 0, the deepest level of access within Windows.
[edit] i merged the two topics about this [/edit]
