This is simply not true.  8)

Ok. I stand corrected. Breakaway has not been updated for more than 5 years, does not run on the recent OS, the developer has other priorities and, although promised several times, there is no clue whatsoever about the release of a new version. Iff such a thing will ever exist.
In my book that is abandonware btw…

in reply to: Audio Enhancer vs Broadcast Processor #14225

Be aware though that Breakaway is now abandonware and will not be updated.
Running it on W10 for example is not possible. It also doesn't play nice with some of the latest drivers of some soundcards.

TIP: Stereotool however is still being developed and updated and is very, very powerful

Any chance Breakaway will ever be packed in a VST?
Have you even read this thread?  😮

    i agree.
Me too…

Please, if you haven't got a clue what this is about and start ranting about users in what is just your 2nd post, it's better to remove your account and go elsewhere…
Because you're either a troll or mentally challenged. BTW this is my last reply concerning your posts.

It has been a while since my last post but came in tonight to check and see if there has been any chatter.[CUT] From my days working with Bob and the gang, when Leif makes a move, everyone will know it and only when it's time.

On that note I wave and watch.
So basically what you're saying is that Leif waited 5 years for the arrival of W10 and now we have to wait for another year for "the dust to settle". Are you mad?

Yeah, it sure would be a welcome sight to see Leif make an appearance on here and say either "I'm continuing development with Breakaway" or "I will no longer be further developing Breakaway"
I agree.
when he stated there would be updates, he probably wasn't as busy with projects that take up a lot more time yet which will earn him more money
Like ehm… his car stereo you mean?
clearly, breakaway isn't going to be abandon ware yet, otherwise we would have been made aware by now in some form.
No we wouldn't. Breakaway is still in betastage. So no strings attached for the author. He, very cleverly, made sure of that. There has never been a 1.x version.
work with omnia has to take precedent over everything else
That's fine with me and a lot of people. What's NOT fine is the lying about updates and disrespectful silence towards users. At least be honest about not going to work on Breakaway anymore. But hey, admitting that would probably hurt sales…
the software is still good software
No, it's not. Sure it still works for now, but the rest of the world moved on and there are new drivers (ASIO!), new hardware and a new OS out there. What if for example W10 turns out to be a problem? This software hasn't been updated for 5 years and needs an update. Even Jesse Grafam agrees to that…

This is a bit harsh to say all this about Leif. I do not defend anyone but…
Just ask yourself what You would do on his place.
If I was Leif I would at least talk to the users of my software…

in reply to: BAL new version #14134
So it seems like if Hans can continue development with Stereo Tool that Leif *should* be allowed to still develop Breakaway, unless there is something in his contract that says otherwise.
That is probably true. But we will never know.
any reason why not? Do you not want to support the product anymore? It is being abandoned? is it now considered abandonedware?
Those are all legitimate questions that Leif simply refuses to answer. He's probably more interested in selling this software than supporting it. He was smart enough to never launch a 1.x version, so there is no legal need to support the software.

The last update was years ago and Leif 'sold' the second generation of Breakaway we were waiting for to Omnia to market as as Omnia.9. Since then he has abandoned this forum and tells everyone who asks that there will be a new Breakaway. That has been going on for 5 years now. So yeah, this 'state-of-the-art' software is 5 years old and desperately needs an update…

Is there going to be a new version of BAL released anytime soon? After reading the forums going as far back as 2013 I am seeing a pattern of common issues and no real fixes internally.
Nope…
Just came in here to say that in the last 3.5 weeks Leif and I have been working all day, every day, including weekends. And all day really means that: Get up, eat, go to office, work, eat, work, eat, work, go home and sleep.
Don't do it Hans… just don't.
You know what this is about. Don't get pulled in…
