Folks, hi.
What is happening to Breakaway Broadcast Processor? Are we been cheated by Leif Claesson? Please, tell me we aren't. And if tell we aren't, show some prove.
It's impossible! Four years without a single upgrade, nothing, not a word from Leif or his business partner about nothing, not a single assistance or help desk to the BBP customer.
It seems like Leif uses us to get his "Stairway to Tellos".
I can do a lyric also based in what me, and many others are feeling now:
"There's a swedish, who is shure, all that matters is Tellos, and she's making a Breakaway to his cars…
When he gets, there he knows, now the Breakaway has gone,
Without a word to the breakaway customer…"
Its so ridiculous our customer situation, as ridiculous are what he's doing to us.People are talking about Leif saying in his Facebook page, that for him, its more important to develop his car system than a new BBP version? Are this correct? Are this really true?
I became two option, one could be wright, or both:
1) BBP turns to an abandonware
2) Leif uses us as an entrance to Tellos or other company we wants to be. He appears to Frank Fottis, Tellos invites him, tell him to kill BBP and voilla: "Leif is inside Tellos and we are abandoned".I really want an official word, from Claesson, Edwards or his partner in development Jesse Graffam.
From this moment, I'm claiming Leif make us like idiots.
It's ridiculous, he is humiliating us!Again: if I'm wrong, please prove and be humble to apologize myself to Leif and all the team.
Waiting.
Probably: forever.January 12, 2015 at 2:24 pm #14014timmywaParticipantI'm thinking this kind of negative and cutting commentary doesn't necessarily help to encourage or motivate Leif to do anything for us. Again, I'll state my complete satisfaction with Breakaway in it's current state. It still blows away many other hardware and software options. Are there better options and newer technologies or methods of sound processing available, of course! But what is abnormal about that? I was 6 years old, absolutely LOVING my Atari 2600! But, my buddy up the street had a ColecoVision and it blew my Atari out of the water! Did I stop playing my Atari, or even stop begging my parents to buy more games? Nope. Because I was satisfied and happy with my game. Yes, there was better and I could always go to my buddy's house and play.
Ultimately, posting this kind of crap is NOT HELPING. I still have faith that Leif and co. will bring something out soon. Meanwhile, I'm totally happy with Breakaway and will continue using it. And if it doesn't happen, oh well. There's Stereo Tool, A/XE, 9/XE, Orban PC1101, and on and on….
January 15, 2015 at 8:31 pm #14015Energy RadioMemberBreakaway is at a point where it is working well and sounding very very good. Yes, it would be nice to see an update with some new tweaks, presets or 'toys', perhaps even the 'Undo' algorithm, if that's viable.. but the thing is, Breakaway works excellently as it is. Let's not exaggerate here, Breakaway is consumer level software, very good software at that, and reasonably priced considering the work that went into it and what it does.
For me, using Breakaway for the last few years has put my faith in Leif and the team, and whether or not the software gets an update, if this is as good as it gets, that's fine. I don't think you'll find anything else out there for the price that does the job better.
No doubt there is a very good reason why there has been no update. If there was a critical update required, I'm sure Leif would have it on his priority list and it would be dealt with.
Give the guy a break, like all of us, he is allowed to earn a living. From that perspective you cannot blame him for putting the bigger projects first, it is good business sense to do so.
Leif has given us ground-breaking software. Be grateful.
All good things come to those who wait,
Patience is a virtue, and virtue will be rewarded

January 16, 2015 at 6:13 am #14016kes11MemberIf Breakaway is so bad that it warrants the kind of negativity we see here then why are people STILL using it? If it's that bad and "outdated" then why not go with the latest Omnia, Orban, Wheatstone or Stereo Tool offering? Being negative is not going to make an update come faster and it's not going to motivate the developer or his team to move it up on the list or make it a priority. So please if you really want a new Breakaway keep checking back or catch Leif on Facebook. And if you need something NOW then check out Omnia 9/XE or the latest offering of Stereo Tool. In the meantime, I am going to continue to wait, enjoy my version of Breakaway and look with optimism for a day in the future that I hope will see a Breakaway update.
January 17, 2015 at 1:27 am #14017pap169MemberGuys as mentioned from Leif and from some mail to Keith some time ago there should be an upgrade early 2015,to be honest I don't expect any new version coming up.
And I think we should come to realilty that BBP is abandonware. It 'll come the time that will not be supported from sound cards and drivers and then will be the end.
Probably the Santa Cl. in the next year (2016 or 2017 or who knows) will bring something new.
P.S. And I hope the BBP not become like MBL4/Sonos which now is freeware.(I hope you know the story……)
And as for the negativity I think it is because of something so good become abandoned without any whisper from developers of what is really happening and if ever be updated.
January 17, 2015 at 3:39 am #14018totalradioMemberHey pap, perfect comment!
And was ridiculous someone saying Breakaway is for consumer market, even with a feature list which includes the word *broadcast processor*
Sorry, but broadcast isn't consumer market .
I'm following RadioDJ software which is made by a Romanian who distribute freely am excellent software and make upgrade every mont .
So, why Leif and Keith treat us like ghosts?
The Tellos paychecks is very filled with zero .
BBP is dead. Stereo Tool is here, better than BBP and the hardware processor like Orban or BW. I'll never buy a crap Omnia
So, BBP is the past and officially declared as an abandonwaree.January 25, 2015 at 8:34 am #14019radio oude stijlMemberSome say negativity isn't helping. And that is true. But saying nothing and blowing kisses to Leif because of this 4 year old software isn't helping either…
FACT: Leif promised a new BBP in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014. Where is it?
FACT: Leif puts more time in developing his carstereo than in a new BBP
FACT: Breakaway is NOT working fine… Using the best audiocard available (Marian Trace) for FM output you have to use an old driver because the rest of the world (Microsoft, Marian) kept on developing and Breakaway is NOT keeping up with those developements… How long before something really breaks down?
QUESTION: where is Leif on this forum? And where is Jesse? Is he pulling away from Breakaway as well?I'm not angry about Leif joining Telos. I would have done exactly the same.
But it's the silence and the broken promises (isn't that the same as lying?) that makes me feel very, very disappointed
Basically all software Leif developed on his own before is abandonware and so is Breakaway. He just hasn't got the courage to say it I guess…January 29, 2015 at 6:57 pm #14020davbMemberTotally agree!
If not anything else, some reply from guys would be considerable.
At least that. Ignorance is not a bliss – not in that case, that is.Major updates needed.
To be honest, BBP is great broadcast processing software on the market,
but it needs improvements (composite clipper, issue with marian trace @ drivers, etc.)But let's keep reasonable language here, folks.
Wishing you all the best. Regards!
February 12, 2015 at 4:58 am #14021JesseGMemberI haven't "pulled away". 🙂 And just to add one more fact, Leif was already part of Telos, through Linear Acoustic, for quite a few years before Breakaway existed, and a couple more after that before Breakaway became public. They already had a dominating market share of audio processing for television (this year was the 13th Super Bowl using Leif's processing btw).
I'll agree that Breakaway needs a refresh at least to keep what's existing still working. At the very least.

I wanted to install Breakaway Live or Breakaway Audio Enhancer on my netbook/tablet that runs Win8.1 x86 (the real deal, not RT), but when I try to start it, it just says to contact support@oreans.com. I tried to email them but i'm not sure they'll have an answer for me… Do you have some ideas? I got to run BL even on my old 2004 laptop with a P4 and also my other small Atom netbook Samsung NC10… I guess this has to do with Win8.1 but I don't really know what's going on. Tried running it as an administrator but it didn't work.Got a quick reply from Claesson Edwards support:
quote :HelloThe current version of Breakaway is not compatible with windows 8. We plan to release a new version early next year that will be compatible.
Breakaway support
So I have to wait… New version, hum? Early next year, hum?…[/quote]
So… we're in the last month of the first quarter of 2015. Before I start asking the wrong questions, can somebody define "early next year" for me?
Is it reasonable to assume the release of the new version will happen in this first quarter? Or is this just another broken promise?March 4, 2015 at 4:51 pm #14026twelch1980ParticipantMan. You are sure beating this subject to death man.
Things will happen when they happen.

Why? Updates are promised for 3 years in a row now (or is it 4?). The most recent promise is as recent as the one mentioned above (october 2014). Made by Breakaway Support.
I've said this several times before and I will repeat it again: I love Breakaway (use it on-air) but Leif promised something again and again and is now playing dead as far as Breakaway is concerned. Either tell us Breakaway can be added to the list of abandonware or… deliver!I'm sorry, I can't let go.
