michi95, I’m not sure you understand why I think the replacement for Volume Logic is still needed.

Volume Logic and Breakaway (because they’re both products from Leif) do an awesome job of balancing out audio and applying smart compression when needed.

I need to be able to take an hour long wave file and run it through Volume Logic or Breakaway Live and have the output be a corrected wave file.

That’s about it. The Volume Logic DSP for winamp did exactly that. I’m still able to use it to this day but it’s in "trial" mode because I’m no longer able to activate the copy of Volume Logic I purchased years ago.

If we had a replacement for the Volume Logic plugin for Winamp, you could use that.

I’m still not sure why we can’t get a Winamp plugin for Breakaway Live. We need something to replace Volume Logic.

I need a process to run a large .wav file through breakaway and then end up with a corrected .wav file written to the hard drive.

I’m currently using an older version of winamp with a demo version of the old volume logic plug-in for winamp. I have the output settings of winamp set to disk write a .wav file.

It works but I’d like to find a better way.

that’s exactly what you can do but you’d have to have the old volume logic program to install. it’s from back around 2004 and Octiv doesn’t even exist anymore.

you’ll also have to have winamp of course and you’d have to configure the volume logic as the output in winamp then in the configuration of volume logic, you specify disk writer as the output for volume logic.

once you’ve done that..you add your file(s) to the list and hit play and you’ll see Volume Logic processing the file as it writes it out to the disc as a wave file.

i have it because i purchased it back in the day and kept the installer but i have to run VL in "trial" mode because i can’t re-register it since the company no longer exists.

I would venture to guess that the Dj community as a whole is not really aware of this product yet.

I ask about the Mac platform because every Dj I know in Central Florida is running Scratch Live on a Macbook Pro.

I’d certainly buy this product if I could run it on my laptop with my software..if that counts for anything.

I just wanted to know if we’d ever see a version of Breakaway Dj for the Mac platform that could work with Scratch Live…

back to Apple and Serato for a second..

As a working club Dj, you couldn’t pay me to use anything but a Macbook Pro for hardware and Scratch Live for the Dj software. Know why? They’re reliable and they do exactly what I need them to do.

My original post had to do with Breakaway Dj working with Scratch Live on Mac hardware. I’d like to get Leif’s thoughts on this..

"You’ll find two USB 2.0 ports and a FireWire 800 port for connecting faster peripherals."

    Check your facts.

Before you slam Scratch Live..have you actually used it in a club setting?

I hate to be the one to rain on the parade but I read through this entire thread and there are two things missing, as far as I can tell.

    1) no mention for Serato Scratch Live.. THE main software that club Djs use
    2) no mention of the Mac operating system.

Go into almost in club in the US and go visit the Dj booth and you’re likely to see a Macbook Pro running Scratch Live.

If Breakaway Dj will work with Scratch Live on a Macbook, I’ll buy it. 🙂
