I am also very interested to try this Briansbrain..
i have 70+mbit wifi bridged link(*tested speed) @5 Km , for a lan purpose, so bandwidth is not a problem, also i can test over internet with 1mbit adsl line over another broadcasting location (*but lets say ~ 600kbit just to be safe cause its a bit unstable to max it out)…
Is it possible to try this over lan & go better quality with pcm codec ?
@ boki what do you use for your STL link software/hardware, if you can say of course..🙂 ?
djscoobyMemberThank you milky & didac for your answers…
@didac… Try the lastest drivers for maya and aslo make sure that the card is connected directly to root usb port and not usb hub… as i have found over net a lot of people has issues with this card if its not conected directly to usb root port…
@milky, i already have used bbp dj (my own licenced version of course with vdj & herculs console for hours with no issues at all.. ) so the problem here is i dont know if the problem is on software or this particular card…The card is connected (in this case) over a usb hub..(as there arent any free usb ports available…this pc has only 2 and the one is defected unfortunately), so after some investigation i have seen that the card when pc is restarted is named as usb audio device (NOT maya) and is running normaly…
But..
When the problem ocurs the card changes name to maya44.. And also the asio control panel of the card is not seeing the card… So its definitely a problem with the usb hub & the card…
If i find another pc to test it i will post back the results… (But i am pretty sure the problem will be solved if i connect the card over a root usb port..)
But of course it may be the software (visual disco mix) that’s causing the issue…Thanks again guyz for helping me…
djscoobyMemberI though this was the case but i asked to be sure that it wasnt my fault..
BTW radiorio what happened mate with the project , i know you have personal issues and of course its a free-time project but i am just wondering if there will be any "riocast" in the near future..
Thank you for the reply
djscoobyMemberHave someone suceeded in sending metadata from txt file to shoutcast v2 ? with the latest edcast?
I can send over icecast&shoutcast 1.9 version fine but version 2 wont work.. At least does anyone know how to send metadata from text file to new shoutcast ?Thanks in advance
djscoobyMemberThank you ethannz, i will try it too and post back…
djscoobyMemberEthannz if its not too mutch trouble , please update here if the problem is resolved permanently after some days..
thank you
djscoobyMemberNop, i have intel quad core system, and also i monitored dsp latency tool and havent seen any lag, when i have a spare machine for broadcast i will test this card on another pc just to see if it works, i really cant think of anything else..
thanks rebel for pointing out…
djscoobyMemberHi ,
unfortunately i can’t help you as i have the same setup and exactly the same problem..
i my case the problem appeared a month or 2 ago i really cant remember when,
but the crazy thing is that this mashine has been running for months with this setup with no problem at all and some time it was really heavilly loaded.. !!!!so my better guess would be drivers or bios setting but unfortunately i really cant advice you more as the pc is on a remote location and its not that easy to stop it and check what is the problem exactly as it plays On air so i just installed another pci audio card on it as i havent got a lot of time or a spare pc and i used radio automation output to realtek …to….maudio line 1/2 analog…bbp asio…pll exciter
When i will have some time and a spare pc for a couple of days i will definitely check on it and give you a heads up if i find a sollution/root of cause..
in the meantime if you find anything by yourself please share if you dont mind…
PS : Keep in mind that after a couple of tests i did at least in my case, the problem is only from spdif , analog lines works fine..
i cant however test if its the input or output that does these crakles, as the pc is far far away 🙂Also in my case i havent updated any driver or windows os, for months , tried it before a week but card has still the same problem…
…i am starting 2 beleive it has something to do with card h/w maybe…OS:win 7 x64
djscoobyMemberok Jesse i will try with other drivers after holidays cause i cant stop the radio all the time during holiday season , and will post back here with my findings…
Thanks a lot for the tip..
Merry Christmas and a happy new Year to all..
🙂
djscoobyMember

You answered yourself.
I’m not sure they did. Can you explain that more in depth for me?—
@ the CPU use, that might not be what’s happening when Breakaway hangs for whatever reason. It might be hanging before he CPU goes up, and finding out what’s causing that hang (since it’s an interaction between Breakaway and something else) could be difficult to find.
I would assume you’ve tried different versions of your soundcard’s drivers, and tried (lots of) different latency combinations on your soundcard driver’s control panel. ??
Yes I tried with 2 different ASIO Cards and also differemt versions… The last time i did a reinstall of BBP and the issue semed to be resolved but after some time (1 month+ aprox) the problem reappeared…
Since i lowered the priority yes i can remote when it hangs and also the PIRA alarm can now work and restore the sound cause previously with Realtime the PC was useles when it happened, but the problem is still there..
Heres the setup : Win 7 x64 – Maudio 192 – BBP Asio (latest Version)
Automation output to ->SPDIF OUTPUT (Direct Sound i beleive since the automation doesnt support asio)
BBP Input –>SPDIF IN (ASIO)
BBP OUT –> LINE 1/2 (ASIO)Now the problem :
==============
When theres no input for some seconds the BBP ASIO Hangs the CPU cores (especialy if its realtime the PC is usseles and i have to hard reset it)Software running :
==============
PIRA ALARM monitoring : MAUDIO-SPDIF IN for sound
AIROMATE output : Line 2 (virtual cable from BBP Asio) for RDS
HOTRADIO automation Software : MAUDIO-SPDIF output as Direct Sound or Wave (don’t know exactly)
BBP Asio : (*IO described above)What i think the problem may be :
==========================Since i havent used this setup before a lot can cause it but, because of the fact that when the audio comes again , the cpu returns to normal use and BBP cpu operation restores to 15 to 20% of cpu, i asume it must be a bug in BBP cause when i use the above setup i eliminate completely any noice that an onboard audio card has (ex realtek i used before) since the input and output are directly from m audio and signal / noice ratio are the minimum you can archive..
I cant think of anything else expect maybe any plugin currently running on BBP (running now bass efx-impact Chunk-Edcast for encoding)
………IF anyone can think of anything else please do tell 🙂
Thanks you all for helping me..
Best Regards
Sakis
djscoobyMember
How did you find out it is BBP that locks up the PC?
Because BBP Asio by the defaut (AUDIO REALTIME PRIORITY-in IO settings) is in realtime priority it locks down the pc…
You cant remote it and thats the bigest problem since its on th TX site…So i disabled this setting, and now it works in above normal priority so i can remote and stop it when it hangs the cpu and restart it..
But the problem is still there as i noticed yesterday.. So if anyone has any idea on what the issue may be, please do tell..djscoobyMemberGuyz can anyone help ?
Maybe i didn’t explain the problem right, let me explain it again…
I have this setup
automation output -> maudio spdif output ->bbp input (maudio spdif in *RCA to RCA cable) –> bbp output *MPX* (maudio line 1/2 out)
When i have silence for 5 seconds+ breakaway hungs the cpu
When sound is back bbp works fineOS : win 7 x64
BBP Asio Latest version
Plugins : impact/chunk , bass efx , edcastPlease if anybody can help i’ll be very glad.. When BBP hangs the CPU the PC is useless , i can’t even remotely connect to it..
Thanks in advancedjscoobyMember

I have also a moded m-audio 192 does it need tilt ? and if yes could somenone share the value please ?
Thanks in advance
🙂
The M-audio card needs to be modded to bring it’s square wave distortion down to an acceptable level to be tilt adjustable, it still needs to have the tilt set.
Again, as mentioned many times before, there is no common value for any card as every soundcard (even of the same type) will have a different tilt value, it also varies depending upon what you are connecting it to so unfortunately, the only way to set the tilt is to measure and set it up yourself as per the instructions on the main website.
Thanks yorkie for the advice i’ll do that…. When i get and oscilloscope..
Btw i also have another 192 khz capable card… Its called quartet from infrasonic… have you or anybody else used it whats you opinion its worth to replace m audio with this ?
Thanks in advance
djscoobyMemberI have also a moded m-audio 192 does it need tilt ? and if yes could somenone share the value please ?

🙂djscoobyMemberToday i noticed a raise also on cpu even when the bbp (asio version) is set to low latency..
Strange…Can anyone comfirm that??
I’ve had again 60 % aporx. CPU usage and when i try to switch it to LINEAR mode the audio started to shutter… then switched back to low latency and all was ok but still 60% cpu use.. 🙁
Then shut it down and restart it and as expected cpu use : 20% at linear mode..
But in 2-3 days aprox. the problem will start again…Anyway if leif finds a solution to this it’ll be perfect..
Good day to u all guyz.
